Event Post: Patron Gods

THE RUNDOWN

On the morning of March 15th, you will find a letter resting in a place you're unable to miss. Maybe on your bedside table, maybe taped to your mirror, maybe even inside the pair of socks you were about to put on. Each envelope is a gentle pastel color, corresponding to the god who's chosen you - Hope is purple, Fear is green, Rage is red, Delight is yellow, Sorrow is blue, Confusion is orange, and Tranquility is gray.

Each letter reads:

Congratulations! You have been chosen! [God name] thinks you're a great fit for their team! All you have to do is spread their emotion, and you'll get a blessing - and if your team wins, you get the grand prize: one (1) request for each member of the team, no payment required! Or you can band together and request one big thing, it's all up to you! So find your allies, get started, and let's win this thing!

As you're wondering why whoever wrote this doesn't seem to know any punctuation besides exclamation points exists, you may feel a mild sense of competitiveness creeping over you. You kind of want to win, and if you're naturally competitive, that desire will be even stronger. You'll also discover that when you meet someone else on the same team as you, you feel a sense of camaraderie - maybe you should help each other out? Either impulse can be easily ignored, but that's no fun! Wouldn't it be way cooler to work together and beat those other, crappier teams? Yeah, we thought so too.

After reading the letter, a friendship bracelet in the color of your patron god will appear on your wrist. It can be removed easily enough, if you want to hide your team affiliation or just hate friendship bracelets, but with or without it you'll still feel inclined toward friendship and teamwork with your teammates! (Screw all those other guys, though.)

THE DETAILS
What your characters can do to help their team win is pretty much up to you - the sky's the limit, as long as it induces the emotion of their team. Scattered in shops around the city are items that might help with this: hopeful greeting cards, scary fake spiders, jars of glitter, and other assorted small things. But you don't need props to get a reaction out of someone, right? It can be as big or small as your character wants - you could insult someone to make them mad, tell them a sad story, pretend you're your own identical twin and confuse the hell out of them. Or, for the more extreme folks... well, terrifying attempted murder and spiking someone's drink so they'll have a good time isn't out of the question. All that matters is inducing the correct emotion. Have fun!

Any character that participates will receive a blessing from their patron god. Please read the page carefully if you have any questions about how these work! One good thing to keep in mind is that if your character has a similar power already, or simply doesn't want that particular power, they can give it away or trade it. Your characters will receive the blessing spheres on March 21st, the day after the event ends. We'll be keeping an eye on participation, but it would be very helpful if you let us know, in plotting posts, on the CR meme, or anywhere else, if your character is not participating, so we know to leave them off the list of who gets a blessing.

Finally, the grand prize is - as stated in the letters - one request for each person on the team. If requested individually, these would be a smallish reward. For example, a kind of food they've wanted, immunity from another event, healing of a wound, or a special weapon. However, if most of the people on the team band together and agree on one thing, the reward can be much bigger - for example, an entirely new building in the city. Maybe you really wanted that cafe! Now's your chance. Smaller groups of people on the same team could also join together to request a slightly bigger reward to share, if they wished.

Marian will not be participating for Fear's team (and will be sending him an irate message lol) but think of all the confusion you could cause with a time traveller at hand. (Well and technically anyone could "borrow" Marian's device... although she would resist that pretty hard :o )

Emily and Faith things, for your handwaving convenience!

Teammates can absolutely feel free to handwave this conversation, and if it happens, wherever in the city, everyone can pls feel free to handwave Faith being... her usual self, lmao.

And then on the day after the event, she'll chat with Delight about how she didn't do a good enough job, find out about the fun new hiatus option, and go comatose for a while. :)

TEAM FEAR

Okay, after Shuuya gets over the fact that he's on this Team, he'll be pretty willing to help anyone out on Team Fear. So, if you're the man with the plan, Shuuya will be super willing to help you out!

Shuuya's ability, Deceiving Eyes, allows him to copy another person's appearance. But he has to know how they look, smell, and sound before he can do that (so, sorry, pictures won't work. You're free to get creative, though.) He can use this against some people to strike them into a Fearful mood. (Just don't expect him to do this for Ned. He doesn't want to get shot.)

If you want to abuse him for your Team, just talk to him long enough to become friends, then pretend to be annoyed with him or hate him, and that'll spike his Fear right up as he begs your character to hit him to make it better.

If you would like to plot for either of these to happen with your teammates, please feel free to inquire! I'm game for all the CR this will bring!

Henry's on Team Tranquility!

Despite not knowing the meaning of chill, you can count on Hotspur to be ultra competitive. So aside from his normal efforts trying to keep the peace as a guardsman, he'll be making the most of the only skill he possesses that might spread some tranquility: massage!

Yep, you read that right.

Someone with such an intensely physical way of life is no stranger to it, and he is in fact pretty good. So for a week he'll be available for teasing out those painful knots and relaxing your muscles with his strong, skillful hands. And for throttling the filthy-minded.

If anyone on team tranq wants to assist, let me know! We must have musicians, etc. He can probably dredge some poetry (and prayers for the catholic squad) from memory too, if we're looking for more ideas.

He'll be willing to humour positive emotion seekers, since the last thing he wants is the negative emotion gods overpowering everything in the near future, but also he's pretty susceptible to rage (his temper runs hot) and confusion (because over a year on and you future people are still ???).

Kate is on team Hope and - sorry, bro - but completely uninterested in this contest. So she'll be on autopilot/handwaved for the majority and working at the clinic as usual because what is having a life or fun? Although I would be interested in having her meet some new CR - so if you're on team Hope and want to take advantage of the teamwork/friendliness boost, or if you're on another team and maybe want to poke at her and see if you can get her to feel competitive enough to try and inspire hope in people (ha... ha... how do you do that...), or if you just want to have a random unrelated thread, let me know!

Dylan, meanwhile, is on team Rage and once she gets over the "wtf I am chill all of the time" lies, she'll be all about this because it sounds sort of fun. She'll definitely want to organise things with fellow Rage squad people and be into the whole Team aspect of the thing. Outside of that, she'll be going to annoy people in various ways because sure, let's get into the spirit of the thing.

Jill will be making a callout to everyone who wants to tell the gods to shove it! She'll be working to inspire rage, and since she's seen people express negative feelings/attitudes about/at the gods before, this seems like an easy way to do it.

There will be a network post and then a means of letting people act out their rage by joining a mob/protest at the various temples. Jill will be finding/providing you all the things you could want to throw at the temples... and possibly at people you don't like while you're at it, including toilet paper, rotten eggs, and various other rotten fruits, etc.

All Ragers are of course welcome to help with this coordination/activity and everyone is welcome to participate!

Oh boy. Ardyn is on team rage, which is going to be probably hilariously easy for him to achieve in some regards... at least around certain people. He can be a team player if he sees any use in it, and therefore being talked into working with fellow teammates won't be all that difficult to do.

However he will also be prone to doing his own thing to make others rage, which may or may not lead down the path to some negative CR with him. This will be anything from teasing/cajoling to actually utilizing physical pain to make people angry -- but the latter only if discussed about beforehand first!!

So basically if you want Ardyn to be a jerk to your character for the sake of this competition, let me know?!

She's planning to host a competition! All you'll have to do is make it through a game session of Bunkers & Badasses with her! She'll tell you the prize is something amazing~ And you'll be a fool not to want to try and win it! You all love playing Dungeons & Dragons so it'll be easy right~!?

She'll be changing the rules, making items that don't make any sense and giving you impossible battles to try and win!

As well as that, she's going to confuse people by pretending she's on their team and doing whatever it is you guys are up to! \o/

Will Graham | Team Fear

Okay so, Will is a ball of pent up fear in his natural form anyway! Just going to let Will's imagination run wild with this one.

But I was thinking, maybe I'd have him show people the Wendigo and Nightmare Stag that he sees when he's hallucination/imagining? Possibly have him venture off into the Silent Hill zone for this since that's where your personal monsters appear?

I was also going to have him start a convincing rumor that the food in cans and meat you're all eating are human flesh!

Other ideas I had, were to have Will tell your characters things about themselves they wouldn't want to know or want others to learn. Such as if your character is capable of committing a crime, what that crime would be and so on?

Fear is contagious, so if I can get Will freaked out enough, I can hopefully spread that feeling xD I'm open to ideas and really want to go all out on this so if you have any suggestions let me know!

So Sans got stuck on team Delight for the duration of the event, for reasons a bit beyond him. He's got nothing against her personally and will probably do what he can to help out his team where it doesn't require too much effort, but tbh his horrible jokes are just as likely to induce rage as they are happiness, if not more so. Unfortunately, sleeping the entire event away is right out.

He's had a ROUGH couple of months. He's still wrecked over the disappearance of Papyrus, Hermann, and Newt, and he had some really rough times with Frisk and Chara just the week prior. Mettaton's arrived and is majorly salty at his bony ass. His utter disaster of a namedrop thread accrued a lot of hate during the IC anon event, and to top it all off, he's had to deal with considerably more monster racists than usual.

He's fucking exhausted. He's grinning and bearing it like always, but he'll be doing the bare minimum unless someone can spur him out of his stupid misery hole.

HARMLESS TEAM CONFUSION TROLLING

So, I hear you like your things randomly in different places. Tyki hates gods but will be rather tempted to win or participate a little bit. He will be using his power to take random objects in your homes and stick them to other parts of your house.

That couch on the roof? That's him. That random sock hanging from your wall, probably him. Why is your plush bed sticking out of the wall? Power to Choose. Try not to get too confused.

Feel free to make whatever post/log/etc reflecting this as he'll be making rounds and trolling whatever apartment/house he wanders into. With his power he can walk right in through a wall if he wants.

TEAM FEAR NIGHTMARES

So Ushahin isn't too fond of the gods, but creating fear in people is pretty easy for him. I'm going to be throwing up a post for him where he gives everyone their most favorite nightmares! To make things extra fun, he might mix things up, and give you all each others nightmares instead. Either way, making you all not want to sleep for the next couple of days is going to be his goal.

Late comment here is late, because I only just sorted out what Kain'll be doing! He'll be doing the backstabby side switching thing that he does... with the teams. So he'll go around pretending to be all friendly and on others' teams, and doing his best to confuse the hell out of them in the process.

FASHIONABLY LATE Team Fear opportunity!

Mewtwo has decided to do his best to scare the shit outta people, and so I am looking for volunteers! Does your character have a deep, dark fear? Or even just a regular one? Want a misanthropic cat monster to read their mind, find out their fear, and them construct a scenario in which it will be used against them? If so, you've come to the right place!!

Things Mewtwo can do to scare your character:
- Mind reading, both to find out what they're scared of and to scare them in and of itself
- Telekinesis - this includes manipulating the body, so for example if you're afraid of not being able to breathe or move...
- LEVITATION, HOLMES
- Weather manipulation - ngl having him make a tornado sounds pretty awesome, is anyone here afraid of tornadoes
- Memory wiping, so no one remembers him creeping up and mind reading them
- Generally being pretty scary

(Things Mewtwo probably cannot do: make you think someone who's not here is. If you're scared of someone in the city, though, he might possibly team up with them?)

Mewtwo is definitely up for hurting people, and nnnnnnnnot totally against killing maybe? He will probably not be targeting children, though. Let me know if you are interested! c:
