Event Post: The Housing Crisis

THE RUNDOWN

For reasons Sorrow does not feel at liberty to discuss, he's decided the Door is not working quite the way he would prefer. Is it the amount of crabby people it keeps bringing in? The amount it sends away? The creatures it brought this time, or the clocks? Who knows. What matters is that he's going to try to fix it, and that means messing with it.

Luckily, this won't affect the residents directly. Unluckily, it sure is going to bring a lot of weird stuff into Hadriel. Or maybe that's also lucky? If you've been hoping to redecorate, now's the time! Or maybe you're sick of your roommates and you want to move house, and now you've got a great opportunity! Kinda seems like Sorrow might be trying to get rid of the living creatures and just bring in fancy avante-garde furniture. And who could blame him?

If you're really, really unlucky, you might be in the wrong place at the wrong time and experience the wonderful surprise of having something appear right on top of you. Hopefully something small. Fun!

THE DETAILS

The Door being tampered with causes objects of varying kinds to appear all over the city starting on August 16th. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to where the smaller objects appear - you could wake up to a new chair in the middle of your living room, or stumble across a pile of... something in the middle of the road. There are all different kinds of things, and some you might even want to keep! Others... maybe less. Because who knows what they are.

In the southern half of the city (and only there), a cluster of new housing will also appear. These houses are a little strange and warped looking, and completely devoid of furniture - so you'll have to get your feng shui on with whatever you can find around the city. But they're perfectly livable, and as soon as the event is over Hope will hook them up to water and power. So if you've been hankering for a change of page, here you go!

Hey, mods! Just a quick one here. How much liberty could we take with designing this furniture-for-Beetlejuice-aliens? Like, for example, since Leg Table is a smash hit, how likely would it be that there was, like, Hand Chair, or a nightstand with a top platform that sits at a 90 degree angle? Any specific repeating materials or, like, motifs we should keep in mind when designing our own (if that's okay)?

You can be pretty free with it! The general guidelines are furniture or totally useless decorative objects, weird-looking and possibly unusable, with nothing magical or having extra powers/abilities in any way. Beyond that, go for it!
