Monthly Rundown: September Edition
We are making our way steadily toward the end of Arc 2! The Null are in the game now, the gods' investigation will be heating up, and... well, the city's still got weird stuff going on. It's a real packed month, so hold on tight and remember we're always open to ideas and participation!
As always, if you ever have any suggestions or feedback you'd like to offer us mods, remember you can always drop us a line here! Also, please remember to hit up the Current AC post if you have AC for the month! Characters accepted in August do not require AC proofs, but we do require a check-in on the post!

SEPTEMBER PART 1: JUST GETTING STARTED
The beginning of September means the end of the Bad End event. Those mirrors, and all that come along with them, will disappear on September 5th. What are Hope and Sorrow going to do with all that energy they just collected? Well... you'll just have to wait and see, since they won't pop up to chat for a couple more weeks. Planning an investigation takes awhile!
On September 10th, as usual, our new arrivals appear through the door. Along with them will come a few swarms of Jauchekafers, large beetles from the Shadowrun RPG setting.
Jauchekafers feed off chemical and biological waste from humans - but when upset or alarmed, they're perfectly happy to swarm and attack people, too. Being about two and a half feet long, their bites can do quite a bit of damage, and that's not even counting the toxicity that might be passed on from their diet! Then, on September 12th, we will have our bimonthly CR meme.
SEPTEMBER PART 2: FIRE FESTIVAL
Not all disasters are caused by the gods. On September 14th, a dropped match - or a stove that someone forgot to turn off, or a candle that fell over - will spark a fire that ends up threatening a good portion of the city. If anyone wants to volunteer their character to be the one who accidentally (or deliberately) starts the fire, let us know! If there's no volunteer, then it'll just always be a mystery how it started. Either way, the north half of the city will be in danger of fire, from around the library to the colosseum - most of the housing and a lot of the shops! The fire will burn out by September 17th.
It's up to you whether your character's home or workplace is threatened or damaged by fire, and it's up to you how they'll deal with it. (Though we will request that you get permission before completely destroying anything currently listed on the Locations or Housing page). However, there'll be help available from the Hadriel City Fire Brigade, who suggested this event (specifically, Haze, thank you)! More info will be available in an OOC post before the event.
Shortly after this, on September 20th, there will be a network post from one of the gods involved in the investigation, with a little more information on that!
SEPTEMBER PART 3: PARTY ROYALE
Rage and Delight have been gone awhile. What are they up to, anyway? Shouldn't they be back by now? Yes, of course. And they're coming back, with a event to mark their return - though it won't be obvious at first that's what it's for!
On September 22nd everyone will wake up to find they've been given a paintball gun with a note attached that simply says be the last one standing. Upon touching the gun, they'll be filled with a desire to do exactly that. Woo! Citywide paintball match, what could go wrong?
Except... oh come on, you knew there'd be a catch. When you get a direct hit on someone with your paintball gun, they'll fall to the ground completely unconscious - barely breathing, just steps from dead. What seemed like it was just a fun game turns out to be something a little more serious. What have you done? It all gets even weirder when these unconscious bodies disappear on September 26th. All those still awake might be freaking out at this point, but they'll still have the desire to win this battle royale. Can you resist it, or will you give in to the competitive spirit of rage?
And what about those who were hit and lay unconscious for days? No worries. (Well, worries for the people still playing, but they don't count.) The unconscious folks will, on the 26th, awaken inside the colosseum... where an awesome party has been prepared for them! They might be the losers, but they sure get to lose in style, as Delight is throwing a combination 'welcome back' and 'sorry you got paintballed to death' party! Awesome!
Over the course of the event, after the 26th, anyone who gets paintballed will immediately wake up at the party. On the second-to-last day of the event, September 29th, a banner will appear on the colosseum that reads CONGRATULATIONS WINNERS and the party will be open to all... and everyone who participated in the event will get a prize, depending on how long they managed to survive! The party will continue for one day more, so everyone can enjoy it, and then it's all over. More information for this event will be available in an OOC post later this month, and you can thank Nico for suggesting a paintball match (because otherwise this was going to be an actual bloody battle royale)!

Also, does the paint have to be in paintball form to knock someone out, or is any contact with it enough to suffer the effects? For example if a character broke the gun and got some splattered on them, or something.

And any paint from the paintball guns will have this effect, so if it exploded on someone they would also fall unconscious. However, other paint in the city will have no effect! Pouring a bucket of paint on someone, for example, would probably just piss them off and ruin their clothes.

and bruises and other injuries from unprotected paint pelletsthat will inevitably befall the population? Will everyone be cleaned up in time for the party?no subject

But what about Tranquility's temple? It's on the other side of the river, but is it likely that sparks might jump the water and land on its roof? Again, not eager to burn Trank's house, just looking for safe places to send people.
