Event post: Who What Where Wendigo
THE RUNDOWN
THE CURE
THE AFTERMATH
THE OVERVIEW
Hope is still pretty exhausted and he needs a little help running things. Luckily, Fear and Rage are able to step up to the plate and give him a break by providing food for the people in the city!
Except, of course, some of the food they provide is a little too close to home. This would be nightmare fuel enough, but it's taken a step further by the new secret monsters that managed to sneak their way in through the Door when nobody was looking: wendigo spirits.
Wendigo are monsters featured in the video game Until Dawn. Their spirits are relatively harmless and they won't hurt anyone... until someone resorts to cannibalism and consumes human flesh. After this happens, the spirit descends upon the person with a curse, possessing them and forcing a horrific transformation.
Characters possessed by a wendigo will find themselves transforming into a monster over a period of twelve days. During the early days, the character will retain some humanity, but slowly lose their higher thought as the transformation progresses. Their skin will turn a mottled white, their limbs will elongate, and they will be gifted with superhuman strength, speed, and resilience. By February 26th, they will be full wendigo (if they're not dead yet).
Fully-transformed monsters have little desire beyond killing. While their eyesight has faded somewhat, they are highly capable of tracking their prey by sound and movement. They can also mimic other character's voices to lure their prey into compromising positions, and they're intelligent enough to not fall easily into traps. Lastly, it's rare that they keep any semblance of the people they were before the transformation, but strong emotional connections with people may still resonate with them. Or not- it's up to you.
THE CURE
The main cure to the wendigo possession will be death, as it will be far easier for Hope to separate the souls of the wendigo from the character's body after the character is dead. However, characters who possess Hope's Blessing (Rey and Big Boss), as well as other characters with healing-focused powers, will be able to halt and potentially reverse the transformation, though they will not be able to cleanse the character of the spirit entirely.
Hope will eventually make a post on February 18th and agree to cleanse the victims of their curse and their possessing spirits, but only if the character is on the altar in his temple. As one might imagine, this would be far easier to do if the wendigo were A) more human, or B) captured and forced into place somehow. We'll leave that part up to you.
Otherwise, upon death, the spirits will be freed from the character's bodies and they will be resurrected as they were before the event started, curse-free.
THE AFTERMATH
Any wendigo not dealt with by the 1st of March will be killed by Rage as a personal favor and slight apology to Hope.
The wendigo spirits may not be possessing people anymore, but that doesn't mean that they can just disappear. Hope will force the spirits into the tunnels, as he has for the other monsters that show up, and there they'll reside, completely harmless- unless some unfortunate tunnel explorers get lost and hungry someday in the future...
Additionally, Hope will yell at Fear and Rage for messing up the food supply and then replace all the infected food. No more accidental cannibalism!
THE OVERVIEW
Edit: Ami made an awesome and helpful writeup of the effects of the wendigo powers and transformation for reference here!
► February 14th: The food supply is tampered with and characters who eat infected food will be possessed by wendigo. They'll start feeling bursts of uncontrollable anger and a deep-seated hunger.
► February 18th: Hope post! The transformation is impossible to ignore at this point.
► February 22nd: Transformation is nearly complete and characters may begin hunting at this point, as hunger and rage overcomes other emotions.
► February 26th: Transformation is complete. Wendigo time!
► March 1st: All wendigos still alive will be killed by Rage.
Questions!
Re: Questions!
also there is that question; is it still cannibalistm if a character isn't human?

I'd be down for any form of cure (or death). Let's go for the most possible chaos and sadness, though, that sounds like it'll be fun!
She will most definitely be attacking literally anyone who wants her to. :3 Let's do this~~

Ruh, Healing, and You
Additionally, she's been stockpiling on leftover bear meat from the extinction of some of the monsters because she doesn't trust the "generosity" of the gods. She's paranoid like that. Any other fellow paranoids who have desperately hungry characters are free to hit her up because she's not going to be able to eat three whole bears by herself.
So those are a few options!
Also Rey can generate and manipulate fire, so she should also be pretty useful in combating the wendigo spirits. But she'll definitely want to save the afflicted before she resorts to actually killing anyone, provided that they're not beyond all help.

She'll also (grudgingly) lend a gun out in a pinch, but note that she'll probably yell at you if you use up too much ammo. That's hers to waste, thanks.

Cecily Trevelyan
Once she realizes something is Wrong, she's going to consult her housemates in a quiet panic. Once she figures out/hears the details from someone else about what's actually happening, she's going to get as far away from the center of town as possible to keep from hurting people, or worse. Before that, if she's made aware of how best to kill a wendigo, she'll be asking Dorian to do the deed, if it comes to that, because of fire magic reasons. If she doesn't know that fire is the best offense, she'll just be leaving her housemates with Rage's blessing that she'd been given for them to use if the worst should happen.
As far as I'm concerned, the worst will happen, because if she's still herself, she won't allow one of Hope's blessings to be used to heal herself when it could save other people. She wouldn't object to healing magic, though, if there's someone around with that available.
When she's completely lost her mind, so to speak, Inquisitor Lecter is going to be running right back toward town for a snack. If you want your character to be attacked or killed, she can do that. If your character would try and help get her to Hope's temple, they're welcome to try! Dorian and his fire magic are how she'll go down if she's not healed beforehand, but I'm up for all kinds of plotting throughout the event period in the meantime!

Johanna will be turning into a wendigo. She's already not exactly the nicest person in Hadriel, so if your character already knows Johanna, it might take them a little longer than normal to realize that something is wrong. On the flipside, if your character meets Johanna during the event and then encounters her afterward, they might be surprised at how snarly she remains. Both situations should be a good time. Feel free to kill her or try to hurt her in her wendigo state, she probably won't take it personally. Probably.
Arya will be remaining human. I'm offering up her and her sword for wendigo-extermination duty. (finally, that stabbing is going to be put to good use.) She's got experience with the whole killing thing, but it's not experience she particularly enjoyed, so if she knows your character and has to kill them, some complicated feelings will ensue. If she doesn't know your character, she still won't feel great about it, and will probably have a hard time justifying the killing and possibly try to apologize to your character once it's all over.
Feel free to plot with me here or hit me up at

He'll be super torn about killing wendigo that are/were people he knows, for a variety of reasons, but he also knows that as far as canon goes there's no cure and if pushed to it he will kill them. Still, it's a last resort to do so and once he finds out there's a potential cure here he'll be trying to wrangle people to the Temple. I'm good with plotting anything and everything!

He is, however, going to be looking for a way to help the people without killing them, because they used to be people.
People going all feral ghoul on him reminds him a little too much of home. He'll put down anyone who outright attacks him, but until then, he'll be trying to find some way to contain them in the hopes that there is a cure.no subject
this would be the perfect time to have cliff and nick meet in the game right, what with cliff getting infected(no subject)

During the event, he's likely to go around trying to help people who haven't been turned into wendigos and helping spread the wendigo know-how. He's not likely to hunt down any wendigos
because let's face it that shit was terrifying enough the first time no thanksbut if he has the opportunity to injure or kill one, he'll likely take it, even if it's someone he knew :cSo hit me up for anything and everything you might want Mike for!

Lloyd + Cliff + Thom
he can also help with any physical handling infected people might require to get them to hope's alter later or whatever (he'd be hesitant to kill any infected people unless it came down to saving the life of someone else though)
Cliff will be getting infected and i'm kind of equally up for him getting killed or cured, but i'm definitely aiming for him to go a bit animalistic before then either way because i love to prey on my character's insecurities.
Thom will also be getting infected initially, but thanks to his insane immune system he'll manage to notice something is seriously wrong early enough to fix himself up, more or less.
he'll also be available for anyone else's healing needs, though considering the severity of the "infection" he'll be limited on how many people he can fix in a certain amount of time and might even get hit with a power overload, which has the potential to send him into seizures or, if it's bad enough, cause a small power outage within a given radius and send everyone else in that radius into a seizure too (he'll seriously try to avoid that though)

This also seems like an excellent opportunity to meet some neighbors if any unaffected people would like to team up.

ciri & hope
CIRI will not be getting infected because she's still highly suspicious of everything about this place. once the wendigo festival kicks off, she'll be using her skills as a professional monster hunter to do her thing and keep them from hurting others. obviously, a sword alone won't do much damage so she'll be trying to construct bombs as well. if any wendigo want to attack someone and get a fight out of it then here's your girl.
HOPE is also not being affected and has a few things to offer. firstly, he has healing magic so he'll be able to help with halting and/or reversing the transformation for a time. he also has fire magic and an enchantment spell to literally set people's weapons on fire for a short while. got a gun and want to shoot fire bullets? he's got you. how about flaming swords. bam! basically, he's here for healing and support.
Plottins!
THE ALCOHOL DEMON: He can't eat so he's immune. BUT he's been cursed with bad luck from the wraiths so hes not gonna want to do much of anything. He'll definitely be able to be coaxed out of his apathy with the promise of bludgeoning things to death though.

Except it'll be less mercy kill and more "ew gross monster /kills it."
So if you're into that, I'm ur gal.
Amos Kamiya
His best friend in his home world was a magically-induced cannibal. He knows what that looks like, even if he can't sense it.
Wolf + Vaiz + Jinbee
Jinbee and Vaiz won't be possessed though. Jinbee will help protecting people and Vaiz will only fight if he absolutely have to but I'm also up for mercy killings. Or being killed and eaten, for that matter.
