Event Post: Assassin

THE RUNDOWN

Now that everyone has slept off their hangovers and a new crop of poor, unsuspecting souls has arrived in Hadriel, Rage has decided to spice things up a little. She's bored, and who doesn't love a fun game? More to the point, who doesn't love murder?

Starting April 15th, nearly all the residents of Hadriel will be conscripted into a citywide game of Assassin - featuring actual assassination! Beginning the morning of the 15th, when you see your target, you will instantly hate them. The mere sight of them will spark anger that's strong enough to drive you to do awful, awful things. Just look at the way they walk! Only an asshole walks like that. And that shirt? Hideous. Guess there's nothing to be done, you've just gotta kill 'em!

While this rage is not mindless and can be fought, or you can attempt to ignore it and take no action, the only thing that will actually remove it is the death of your target. The moment their heart stops beating, you stop hating them, whether their blood is on your hands or not. Awkward. But hey, you were just playing the game, right? Otherwise, let's hope you can hold out until April 23rd, when Rage decides she's had enough fun and ends things.

So - enjoy the game! Just think of all the fun you'll have! Raiding Rage's armory for murder weapons, trying to talk someone into taking your target out for you, tricking them into the caves so the monsters will do it for you, drowning them in the lake, ignoring your well-meaning friend who keeps trying to talk you down. The possibilities are endless! Thanks, Rage, you sure are livening up this cave experience!

So what happens if our character dies before they hit their target? Does that negate the effects? And they stay dead the usual length of time for dying?

So, Glacius here will be suffering from the pangs of anger and rage driving him to harm his target... but since he is a peaceful creature who is very in control of his emotions, he will not succumb. If you play Cecily Trevelyan and want your character to be injured, however, hit me up and we can work something out; otherwise if you want them to remain unharmed during the event, we can just say that Glacius remained in control and otherwise avoided them.

Also, I am going to have him offer ICE ALIEN PROTECTION SERVICES during this event! Want your character to participate, but not get injured? Or do you want them to get injured but not killed? Glacius is your alien! He's a very competent and powerful fighter who is used to protecting others. He can either come in before things come to blows, or he can intervene in the middle of your character's conflict at your discretion. So if you want your character to just get a couple scrapes and bruises and a good scare, he can intervene early; if you want them to get seriously harmed but not killed, he can intervene later in the confrontation and then take them to get medical help. I'm very flexible, and this allows you to engage with the event as you see fit without having to opt out completely!

Also, in that same vein, I would love for him to get injured protecting someone from their assassin. He's got a very good heart but hasn't had the chance to put that on display yet. If your character would feel guilty over the harm that befalls him and seek to help him out, all the better! So yeah, hit me up if any of this interests you.

I am totally willing to work with whatever you guys are comfortable with!! Lilith has zero hesitation wrt murdering and is mildly OP with her abilities and arsenal of weapons, but she's also fairly reckless and, no matter how much she pretends she isn't, emotional enough for it to be used against her. I'm at smithsyndicate and can talk over PM/email if you guys prefer to plot in private.

SECONDLY! Lilith's a mercenary at heart, so once the whole story emerges ICly, if she gets cut a good enough deal, she'll consider defending your character from their assassin. Positive CR (BB, Maketh, Axton, that means you guys especially; depending on what happens with Handsome Jack in the next few days, this could include Rhys too), she'll do this without hesitation. Feel free to hit me up on Plurk, in this thread, or via PM if you want this to happen with Lili and your character-- I'm willing to handwave an agreement happening, as well!

So this is going to be fun and horribly traumatizing for everyone :D Because Maketh is stuck on her MUST PROTECT THE COMMUNITY BEND, she's going to justify her sudden rage towards Adam because he's a threat - somehow - and must be taken care of. However, she's willing to listen to reason if someone notices what she's up to and questions her logic. Takers?

And just to keep things interesting, Maketh has recently gotten her hands on a rifle.

I'm also up for Maketh getting maimed and/or killed if that's interesting. Let me know! I'm easiest to reach through PM or email.

Regardless of what you and Nick's player decide though, I would love for some "if you die out there I'm gonna kill you, dammit" threading with these losers! Or something horribly depressing if one/both of them dies. :') Additionally, Lilith's very willing to lend Maketh her pistol if needed, as it'll be slightly more portable than the rifle. If Maketh wants to be a little more stealthy.

Miriam Day (Assasin: Sharon da Silva / Target: Rey)

Miriam is going to be very distressed by this event and will do everything in her power to bribe/coax people into protecting her if/when she realizes she's in danger. As for the sudden rage, she's unlikely to walk up to someone and attack them - buuuuut as for subtly arranging misfortune or paying someone to do it for her, well. That's a whole other story.

So Chris is unaffected, which means that he'll just be spending the event meddling and trying to protect friends as well as stop said friends from committing murder. You know, as you do.

Though I'd prefer he doesn't have to kill anyone, he has a gun and will definitely take a shot at someone in defense of a friend. He'll just aim for a nonfatal injury if he does have to shoot. I'm also fine plotting any sort of injuries for him getting in the middle of a fight too, if that comes up!

Laurent is being targeted by Jack Sparrow and targeting Ashley. Laurent is easily angered like... so easily. He has such a short-temper, I'm sorry. And also no chill when angry so.... however you two want to play this! There's also the potential for some Damen intervention to help counter his anger. Laurent is a skilled swordsman, though. But he's also really cruel verbally so it can go both ways.

Blue will be trying to take care of her ravens, which is gonna backfire cause Gansey is her target. So she'll be struggling through that. I'm also open to plotting with Veek about how their interaction would go.


Julia is unaffected but she's got some skilled defensive magic. So like. Hit her up and maybe she'll help guard some people. Maybe. See how she's feeling.

Damianos of Akielos (Assassin: Cho Hakkai | Target: Handsome Jack)

So, Damen is brand new. There are two things about him that are particularly relevant here! The first is that he is a very well-trained and experienced fighter. Whether he's throwing knives, spears, or actual swords, or fighting with a sword in his hands, or fighting with his bare hands, he's comfortable fighting and very comfortable with killing. He's also huge, both in height and in muscle mass, so dealing with him is generally a handful, even at the best of times. Unless you have, either: a group who can help you overwhelm him with numbers, or powers that would subdue him, he's going to be difficult to defeat in combat.

The second thing about Damen is that he is very prone to rage. He has a hair trigger temper, and when fighting, he goes into a kind of battle haze where he kills multiple people all around him and is barely aware of it until he notices the carnage later. He is therefore going to be particularly susceptible to the anger and rage caused by this event, and seeing Handsome Jack is likely to trigger his battle haze. So! Player of Handsome Jack! What are your feelings about this event? I am canonblind to Borderlands! How would Jack fare in a fight with Damen? Do you want them to fight and if so how do you want it to end? Damen would not have enough resistance to Rage's influence to hold back on his own, so he will be aiming to kill if he has you in his sights! About the only thing that could cut through his haze and make him think twice about this is a command from Laurent of Vere, who tends to listen to even when he's not thinking for himself. I've checked with Laurent's mun, and he will be available to help if needed!

When it comes to Cho Hakkai - he will not have any particular feelings about Cho! However, he will not hesitate to fight back against someone who attacks him, and while it's unlikely that a one on one fight would make him lose control of his temper, he'll hit back with force and skill. Again, I am canonblind - how do you want to play this? Will it come to a fight / will Cho resist the impulse? If it comes to a fight, how would Cho fare against him and how do you want that to go down? Unfortunately, if Cho is going for the kill, then so will Damen - he's not the type to run from a fight.

Hakkai is a pretty powerful demon and has killed countless other demons that have tried to kill him on his journey. He's canonly taken down people about 3 or 4 times his size very easily. (Even though he's a scrawny Chinese man). He was turned into a demon by killing a thousand demons three years before the main journey even began through a cold, blind rage.

His body is a weapon. He's a master martial artist and he uses something called a "qigong" canon which uses his energy and charges it into a glowing death ball. He can also use his chi to create a protective barrier (only in front of himself) and heal. (only things like cuts and bruises). He can also use a gun or knives. But he doesn't have any on him since he doesn't need them. He's extremely fast, too.

In his demon form (if he feels the need to take off his power limiters), he becomes so fast that he's barely visible to the untrained eye and he becomes superhumanly strong. His qigong canon increases in power and he gets an added power of using the vine markings on his body and using them for binding purposes.

Hakkai might not be able to resist the impulse since he's so used to killing. He typically refrains from killing humans (though he's done it before), but in this case, he might have a hard time not. He also doesn't back down from fights especially if he instigates them.

Unfortunately, Hakkai is a little OP against someone that doesn't have supernatural abilities. He would probably fare really well against him.

It all depends on you, though! If you don't mind him being killed, then Hakkai is extremely capable. If you don't want him killed, then there are ways to stop him.

Side note: He also has a little dragon that is fiercely protective over him, but he's the size of a large parrot and that's about as much damage he can do in terms of little fire puffs and scratches.

So, basically, Gansey is going to hate every part of this event. He is not naturally violent and he will not like Rage's influence. He will particularly not like that it is making him want to hurt a very pretty fairy lady!!!

Gansey will resist violence by any means possible. To Tinker bell's mun! How would you like this to go? Gansey definitely will not want to hurt her, though I would love for them to argue and potentially come close to fighting before he pulls himself away. Once he knows what's happening he'll fight the impulse - he really hates violence. Emotional control is a specialty of his; it won't be easy, but he'll manage it. And apologise profusely once this is all over. :(

JESSICA (assassin: sam winchester, target: jinbee tsukishima)

I already talked to Sam's player, him trying to murder another blonde Jess in his life is going to be an excellent shitshow (especially with Emily bitching at him for it). So that's a thing.

I have literally 0 clue who Jinbee is though (sorry friend). SO here's where she's at right now:

- Ciri is theoretically giving her a crash course in murder
- murder pact with Emily and maybe Ashley?? so it may just be teens after him but it will be more than one of them
- she's literally just a regular teen girl so

CASTMATES. after this, jess is gonna compose a Shit List of all the people who tried to murder her friends and possibly post it online. just a heads-up.

Jinbee is a loud and polite samurai anime hero protag who swings huge boulders on a stick for at least a thousand times every morning and he's cheerful and friendly. Although he's also got a temper and he would definitely protect himself if he was attacked. Hurting people without having a proper reason though (because being attacked by them is not a good enough reason in his book) so he won't hurt her.

So Lucifer is unaffected this time around and he also doesn't know any of you mortals so he's unlikely to interfere with any of the killing/dying games.

Seriously, he's been watching mortals off each other for eons, at most he's going to make himself a bingo card while he's on the sidelines with a whiskey.

"And there's a knife ... and a gun ... and oh that was a nice bit of throttling there. Wonderful! If I get a poisoning or feeding to monsters I'll have bingo!"

One thing he might do, depending upon if there is interest, is as things progress and he cottons on to the idea that this is something people are being encouraged to do is he might explore that a bit. In a most inappropriate manner. Sort of pop up, right after a character has murdered (or otherwise caused the horrific death) their best friend and be like:

"How do feel now? How did that make you feel when you did that?"

He's just that curious about how these godlets work in this realm.

Murder! Hooray! Aside from interaction with his target/assassin I'd really love to shop York around to anyone who wants a space marine on their case. He's a curious sort of guy and generally likes to try to keep the peace, so if shit starts going off the rails near him he might try to interfere. Want anyone to try and help keep shit calm? He'll do.

He's also going to try pretty hard to figure out what the fuck is going on once he pulls himself away from his target, so if anyone's up for that in terms of putting some Minds together, that'll be great, too. Hit me up here or at dragonpunch!

For his assassin: I took a quick look through those abilities, but I'm not entirely sure how they'd match up. York is sans ammo at the moment though he has his weapons, so he's mostly just an armored space marine who can punch and lift very heavy things and hurl them at people. Thoughts?

This guy can take a whole lot of damage, but unless York is heavily damaged by being set on fire or baseball bats I can't see him being able to do much to him.

Everything is horrible and I love it, a life story.

Ciri is pretty short-tempered herself and can get set in her rage pretty easily. Once her mind is set on something, it's pretty hard to break her off it and she'll find ways to justify why she feels this way!! It's awful. More so, she doesn't like being made a fool of or being manipulated and might try fighting against it if she doesn't go complete bundle of rage. She also won't hesitate to fight and defend herself if and/or when she's attacked. Her powers are also ridiculous, allowing her to teleport around the area and helps with her more fast paced sword style.

She's a talented fighter but does make mistakes and can get in over her head! So I'm absolutely cool with working out anything either of you would like to throw out when dealing with her.

In between all the death and blood, she'll be helping and defending anyone that needs it. She knows there are a lot of non-fighters here and she'll be trying to look out for them especially ones that she has spoken with before. She's also here for crash courses in self-defense aka murder because... hey, gotta learn to protect yourself at some point.

Realistically she's way out of his league (in every way possible) so as much as he tries I don't think Scout could actually kill her with just a bat and a scattergun. But he'll try!

CLEMENTINE (assassin: clear, target: henry mills)

As per the results of my shitshow of a plurk, Clear will be attempting to kill Clementine, get a full clip to the face, and get interrupted by Deadpool who teleports in and breaks his fist on Clear's taint. Clear proceeds to run away crying and that's apparently the end of that because someone else is fucking his shit up.

Henry, meanwhile, is going to be a Super Sore Subject for her. Because despite apparently wanting to murder him hard, Henry was actually her best friend for the first year she was in Haven (her CRAU past game) and she was always hoping to see him again. So she'd like. Point her gun at his face for a long second but then bail and run off, a few times.

YO THOUGH, henry player, if you'd rather she not remember him, we could play this way differently. That's not the only thing keeping her from trying to shoot his face, since I'm pretty sure Deadpool is gonna sit her down for a Controlling Your Murderous Urges talk and will otherwise be trying to prevent it in general.

Adam can't fight, but he's a smart kid and he has weird magic, and he's absolutely available to assist anyone he has cr with. Assistance can come in various flavors, such as: trying to talk them down/logic them out of their anger, helping them hide/get away, performing basic first aid on injuries, and helping them come up with and carry out a cunning murder plot (this offer only available to people he really likes).

Maketh is probably gonna injure him, we're working that out! But protection and help is always welcome, since Adam can't fight. As for Damian, well... Adam would never forgive himself for killing or seriously injuring a kid, and luckily Damien can totally kick his ass anyway. SO THAT'S FINE... MAYBE. He might attempt to come up with a clever murder plot, but if anything I'd prefer to have people talk him down.

Anyone who hurts or kills Ronan Lynch, Noah Czerny, Blue Sargent, Arya Stark, or Gansey will end up on Adam's shit list pretty much permanently. This doesn't mean much except that if he ever has the chance to make their life shittier or, say, leave them to die alone and miserable, he absolutely will. Also he'll probably be a lil bitch to them.

Emma is not affected by this event because I am on hiatus for my last month of the semester, BUT!

she has the ability to make MAGIC BARRIERS and will be willing to use her abilities to help and protect people. I am considering a network post on it but don't want to abuse the nature of hiatus... but basically characters are will be welcome if they leave their weapons at the door and need a place to hide out. it'll be pretty cramped, she and Henry are in a 2 bedroom apartment, but it took a great deal of shit to get through her barrier (two extremely powerful witches) so she's a good option if your character wants to hide out and stay safe.

if you cause trouble you are out of the barrier, more than likely. and she's got plenty of magic to reinforce her mom-rules. sorry troublemakers.

BUT YEAH hit me up I'd love to plot some stuff out!

but YEAH Dorian is an excellent mage, very skilled in battle, and he's also from an RPG so he's pretty much ok with casual murder if he thinks it's necessary, though he'll be pretty embarrassed afterwards when he realizes it wasn't actually necessary. maybe emily will get a fruit basket??

Emily I'm plotting with a bit on plurk, but probably he'll at least injure her! Friends to step in and what have you are most likely welcome, given the very imbalanced power levels here ;; Yu Narukami - well, Dorian will definitely defend himself if Yu genuinely tries to kill him, but he won't go too far with it unless he's pushed there. Also I think the power levels there are a LITTLE more equal, so we could get creative!

Dorian will also be making an effort to protect and help out Cecily Trevelyan, Cullen Rutherford, Cole, and Henry Percy if they at all seem to need it. And he's a pretty decent guy - he's also available to anyone who might need an outside influence stepping in to cut a fight short or protect someone.

He'll be willing to lend a hand to pretty much anyone who's in danger if they ask for it or look like they need it. He's pretty nosy, if anybody wants someone meddling in their murder business.

Amos is a yakuza thug by trade, and has done assassinations before. He's trained in martial arts and has seen combat with a band of mercenaries. BUT he's also a pacifist at heart and will try to talk people down if he sees any murder attempts going on! Strangers and friends alike. Who wants his meddling attempts to help calm everything down?

FIRST OF ALL, Axton is a merc who will probably... take out anyone for anyone else OR help... protect anyone who asks, because holy shit he's missed mayhem like this. :( I am also totally cool with him dying, just because it probably won't faze him very much at all tbh.

OKAY SO

Kylar hope you're ready for a caveman to go ape on you! Koda has been made mindlessly angry before, and he's been proven to be so powerful that three other Rangers could barely hold him down, so. Good luck. He is incredibly strong and runs on pretty quick instincts, but because his brain is less developed for like- rational thought, it might be a bit harder to get through to him.

Also he can probably smell you if you turn invisible.

HOWEVER. Acting in such a terrible manner may cause his Energem to start rejecting him. He is meant to be a protector, and actively trying to kill someone very much goes against this, and his Energem will notice and react in kind. This will probably be his biggest wake-up call that he is not okay; this has only happened in the past when Sledge has somehow fucked the Rangers over.

To Bob: good luck. Koda is a formidable fighter, and even has Ranger armour to fall back on should Bob be unexpectedly strong in face to face.

Jinbee (target: bucky) / Wolf (target: the warden) / Vaiz (assassin: henry percy)

The only oone actually posing a problem here is Jinbee because he's a stubborn anime protag who wants to protect people, and he has a bit of a temper. He's that type of person who will only really get really really pissed off at someone if they hurt other people, like people who can't defend themselves, or people that he cares about, or, well, people in general.

He will protect everyone ever, so if your character needs protecting (or doesn't but you want interference or something), he's all up for it.

But when it comes to attacking others he does not do so unprovoked so it depends on if Bucky appears to be someone he heeds to kill for the safety of others or if he hurts someone.

As for Wolf, he's most likely to simply turn tail as soon as he realizes that he's angry because he doesn't want to hurt anyone, and he has no proper control of his powers so he'll run off and hide.

Maybe lose control of himself in the caves or something, I'm thinking of letting him do that, if anyone wawnts to encounter a rampaging, red werewolf. He would prefer it if he was killed if that was the case but since he's already dead and sort of, well, immortal, that's not really possible.

And Vaiz is that seriously annoying type of lazy character because he seriously won't do anything. It's too much of a bother. Even if he's attacked it's a bother to fight (how did this guy become the strongest in his country) but he'll protect himself but he won't attack back and won't really bother unless he's forced to make an effort. It really all just depends on his assassin's strength and stuff. But he could just imprison them in an unbreakable soap bubble that will only break after some hours unless he lets it break.

If anyone wants to tell him to get off his fucking ass and actually do something besides search for candy or cake or whatever and help people instead, they're free to do so.

...Ha, the bubble sounds like an amusing outcome, ngl. Henry has a temper and an impetuous streak, so he could well confront Vaiz and lash out in overblown anger. But he wouldn't go quite so far as intentional murder -- at least not with someone who wasn't aiming to kill in turn.
