November Event: Hopesgiving

THE RUNDOWN
If there's one thing Hope has learned from the first month of having humans in his city, it's that he has absolutely no idea what goes on inside their little weirdly-shaped heads. So, on November 18th, he'll make a network post asking for help - in his own way.

He will request that, starting November 19th, people bring him a representation of something that brings them hope, whether it's a symbol or the actual thing or just some words written down (if your hopeful item is more of a concept). They should be placed on the altar of his temple, where they'll give him both a little boost of power and some insight into what humans find hopeful. Your characters will be encouraged to strengthen the power of hope within these items by either working together (creating or finding something in a group) or using their item/idea to inspire hope in others (whether simply by showing it to them, explaining it, or anything else). Whoever brings Hope the best/most hopeful thing will receive Hope's blessing, which imparts the temporary ability to heal others, lasting about three months. If enough people participate, a feast with familiar foods from characters' home worlds will be provided to the entire city at the end of the event, November 28th and 29th.

Naturally, Fear can't just let that stand. Shortly after Hope, he'll make his own network post. He'll be getting involved too, stealing Hope's idea like the lazy thief he is, and offering his blessing, the temporary ability to make others see their worst fear, to whoever brings him the best representation of fear. Just as with Hope, characters will be encouraged to increase the power of fear in their items/ideas - for example, by frightening people with them.

What brings your character hope? What frightens them? The gods would like some examples, because they're kind of flying blind here. Your character is free to side with either god, play both sides, or simply sit the entire event out. But don't forget those sweet, sweet blessings.

THE DETAILS
For the extent of the event, there will be special shops that have a heavier focus on trinkets, toys, and art and crafting supplies - things that can be used for representations of hope (or fear). Think Hallmark stores vs Hot Topic. Searching could yield familiar objects from home, as well, though nothing with magical power and nothing too dangerous.

Items set on Hope or Fear's altars will glow briefly, but won't disappear, so if your character would like to use something from home or something that means a lot to them, they can do so safely. On an OOC level, if your character will be using their item or idea to inspire hope or fear in others before showing it to the gods, we won't require proof or linked threads, but we will ask for a brief summary. Winners will be announced around the beginning of December.

There will be a log for the event itself, with separate threads to list the items that are left on the altars. If minimum participation in Hope's part of the event is reached, there'll be a separate log for the feast at the end of the event. If not, you're out of luck, and Hope will go sulk while Fear laughs his way to the bank.

THE OVERVIEW

► November 18th: Hope makes a network post announcing the event. Fear rudely jumps on that bandwagon.
► November 19th-27th: The event goes on! Special shops are stocked, stuff appears in the city, the altars are ready for business.
► November 28th-29th: Given enough participation, Hope provides a feast for the city. Yes, even the people who helped Fear.
