Help wanted!

Hello, players of Hadriel! It's been an awesome almost-two-years with all of you, and we as mods have loved every second of running this game and playing with all of you awesome folks. We would absolutely not be where we were without you, and we want to thank each and every one of you, past and present, for participating in our game!

This OOC post comes with a few updates: we're searching for icon commissions from our many talented artists to represent the Null (and potentially some other creatures) in a few icons, we're discussing the merit of having a gamewide Discord chat, and for the first time since Hadriel opened, we will be looking for a new helper mod!

ART COMMISSIONS
We are extremely lucky to have so many talented artists as players in this game, and we'd like to give you guys the opportunity to show your stuff! We are looking for people who would be willing to allow us to commission several (1-3) icons for current and future NPCs, so that they have more of a visual representation in game!

We will attempt to commission as many artists as possible, though we do have a set budget, so commissions will be on a first come, first serve basis in order to keep everything as fair as we can. We may take some time to fully respond to all emails, so please don't be discouraged if the response isn't immediate!

If you're interested, then please send us an email at hadrielmods@gmail.com with "Icon Commission Information" in the subject line and the text box below filled out!

Please have all emails submitted to us by August 31st. Thank you!

DISCORD SERVER
There have been a few times where players on plurk have brought up the idea of wanting a Discord server for Hadriel. For those of you who may not know of the program, Discord is a cross-platform text and voice based chat service, where users can navigate between various servers that function similar to chat rooms. Each server can have multiple channels with various topics (for example, a Pokemon discord server might have different channels within a single server to discuss different pokemon generations), as well as open voice channels.

Discord is becoming a pretty popular platform, and both of Hadriel's mods use it extensively. It isn't very resource intensive and is useful for coordination. We both really love Discord, but have some hesitations about creating an Official Hadriel Discord. We feel like some players may share our hesitations, and so, in the spirit of Hadriel, we thought we might have a poll on whether or not players would want us to begin looking into opening a Discord server.

Before you guys get out your voting clicks, however, we'd like to present our thoughts on it! Please keep in mind that even if the majority of the poll votes "yes", a server still may not happen for reasons presented below:

Firstly, we would not be available to mod the server, except in extreme cases. Both Manda and Rae would be included as mods of the server just in case we'd need to do things like create channels, introduce bots, or do other odd things, but we simply don't have the time, schedule, or resources to make sure that nothing goes awry in a Discord server. To this end, we would have applications for a few mods for the server- if we do not get enough/any mod applications, we simply wouldn't be able to do it. This means that several of our players would need to step up and feel comfortable with modding, which requires setting rules, deciding on channel topics, and moderating discussions/language/topics in all chats. If we decide to proceed with opening a server, mod applications will come at a later date.

Secondly (and most importantly), we don't want to exclude any players from relevant plotting, resources, or communication with other players. Plurk is already rather demanding on some folks, and the last thing we want is to create a service that people will feel stressed about or excluded for not having. We will still carry out all OOC announcements both on the OOC comm and on our mod plurk, and we would encourage players to utilize gamewide resources like CR memes and the OOC comm for plotting so that everyone would be able to access it. If we feel like a potential Discord server becomes too exclusionary of our players who choose not to use it, we may take steps to mitigate its impact and/or shut it down.

We are aware that we can't prevent anyone from opening their own unofficial Hadriel server if this doesn't pan out, but we want to explore more official options first, so we can ensure that everything goes as smoothly as possible.

Now that all of that has been said, let's have a vote! As a note, we are able to see results in this poll, but results will be anonymous to non-mods. The poll will be closed on August 31st.

HELPER MOD APPLICATIONS
Do you think our game is nifty? Do you want to help us run it? Do you want access to our TOP SECRET folder so you can smile knowingly with us when players get excited at new plot developments? Then being a helper mod might be the job for you!

While the two of us have been able to manage most things so far, as we move further into Arc 2, there are just starting to be too many things to juggle. Because of this, we'll be looking for someone who might be able to help out: predominately as an NPC player and potentially as an app helper, depending on what they might be comfortable with. We are only looking for one helper, but please take note that not knowing how to/not being able to do any specific thing will not disqualify you!

Here is what each aspect of the potential responsibilities would entail:

NPC player

• You will be taking over playing Rage and Confusion for the future. This means that you would be asked to read over previous Rage and Confusion posts/threads to get an idea of their 'voice', as well as read our private blurbs about their personality and mannerisms. You would be given the freedom to extrapolate what you like from their personality, so long as you keep within the framework of the type of characters they are and the relationships that they have with the other gods.

• You will be given access to plot docs to better understand the gods, their history, and their conflict with one another. You will be trusted to keep some of this information a secret!

• You will be asked to make posts from your gods from time to time (generally once every several months) and answer responses to these posts in a timely manner, ideally backtagging all threads until they reach an IC conclusion.

• You will be responsible for keeping up with your NPC's inbox! You will be given some liberty on what blessings you disperse and what deals you can make with various player characters. You will be able to divert NPC notifs into your email for easier tagging of course!

• You will be comfortable with communicating with Rae and Manda both, preferably via Discord, however plurk and other systems are also fine! You will also need to be comfortable interacting with potentially every player in the game via NPC threads!

• You are open to the possibility of adding further NPCs to your list, within reason. You will be given the option to say no, of course!

App helper

If you choose to help us out with apps (we would really appreciate it, but it is not a requirement for applicants), you would have to be willing to:

• Read several apps per application cycle (1st-7th of every month), even apps you are canonblind to. Hadriel usually receives 12-18 apps per cycle- you would not be responsible for all of these, but weighing in on 3-5 apps per cycle would be incredibly helpful to us.

• Use discretion when looking through apps. Some players are self conscious about their applications and would prefer them to remain private. We would need any potential app mod to be respectful of this desire and limit any and all app discussions to just other app mods.

• Be comfortable with app standards and understand what we're looking for in apps. We'll go over this in more detail if you're willing to help us out, but knowing what we want from apps is a big part of being an app mod!

As a note, please only apply if you are intending to stay in our game for the foreseeable future! While we'd love any help that we can get, we'd prefer to keep turnover as small as possible.

For all applicants, please email us at hadrielmods@gmail.com with "Helper Mod Application" in the subject line and the text box below filled out! Please have all applications in by August 31st.
