Aside from a short period of unconsciousness at the onset, everything else is normal. He wouldn't hear his own heartbeat, nor could anyone put their ear to his chest and hear anything, but he still has a pulse and is otherwise normal. His heart is still working fine and doing its job, it's just in a different location for the time being. ;)
