Monthly Rundown: June Edition

Welcome to your new island life! We hope you're enjoying the cloudy skies, rain, and cold surf. At least it's a change from the desert, right? Sure could use a bit of warm weather and some fruity drinks with umbrellas in them, though. But couldn't everything?

JUNE PART 1: ISLAND TIME

Now that everyone's on the new world, the first week or so of June will be dedicated to getting settled in. This is when the boats provided by the gods will begin appearing - there are only about 15 boats overall, scattered around the islands, so everyone's gonna have to learn to share. Or maybe start some boat-building workshops? Either way, at least you can travel between islands now. So go ahead and settle in! Get used to the weather, the ocean, the fact that nighttime is actually dark. It's not so bad here. For now, anyway.

Then, on June 10th, the Door will open and a new batch of Hadrielites will arrive. Along with them you'll find Lava Crabs and Rock Crabs from the video game Stardew Valley.

These crabs are difficult to distinguish from rocks unless they're moving, thanks to the shape of their shells. When they're still, they look just like any rock - until you get close and they scuttle right at you, ready to clip you with those sharp claws of theirs. While their hard shells make them difficult to kill, if you can manage to knock them off a crab's back it'll flee for shelter. Or maybe you should just run?

JUNE PART 2: LOVE YOURSELF

A new sun in the sky, a new ocean - it's important to start off a new location by feeling good! At least, that's what Love believes. Things have been kind of tough, especially with Sorrow's return and the regrets that dredged up. It's time for everyone to feel good about themselves - literally.

Starting on June 13th, the inhabitants of Hadriel will be full of self-love. No, not like that, you pervs. This is about being true to yourself, indulging yourself, making yourself happy. Screw all those obligations that you're sick of! Why not spend the day relaxing in the hot springs instead? What if you ignore the pile of laundry you need to do and spend your afternoon drinking instead? Oh... and that 'friend' who annoys you all the time? Maybe it's time to finally be honest and cut them out of your life. You need to put yourself first, after all. Maybe you'll focus on actions, or maybe you'll just focus on finally, for once, going easy on yourself. You really aren't that bad a person. It's time for you to be happy! You deserve it. Love thinks so, and they're never wrong.

All this treating yourself will last until June 16th, when the weight of all your obligations and responsibilities will come crashing back down. You should still try to love yourself, though. That's like, good mental health and stuff.

JUNE PART 3: HOME SWEET HOME

Okay, so maybe you didn't vote for this world. Maybe you don't like it at all. Or maybe you did vote for it, but you still really wish you could just go home for awhile. Don't worry, guys - Confusion is bored, and she'll help you out.

From June 20th until July 2nd, you'll get a little glimpse of home. How will that work? Well, Confusion will be inflicting waking dreams on people - dreams that affect anyone who touches them, as well. In the middle of their day, people will stand still, transfixed, as they begin to live a day in their own previous lives. From their perspective, it will be entirely normal, as if they'd never left. They can walk around and eat and fight monsters and overthrow governments - whatever they did at home! Meanwhile, back in Hadriel, they're standing in one place, still as stone.

But maybe their friends will get concerned, or a stranger, or someone hoping to take advantage of their state and write an embarrassing word on their forehead. The moment they touch the dreamer, however, they'll be pulled into the dream, to live in that world alongside the person who belongs there. Maybe they'll have no clue what's going on - or maybe they'll believe they belong in that world too. Whatever else happens, it will feel incredibly real. Enjoy your temporary vacations - or not. After all, not everyone wants to go home.
