northerndragon: (network post time)

Jon himself is getting a leather map of the North of Westeros and some map markers -- because it was just about the only canon object I could think of that doesn't really have much use in Hadriel or much emotional significance, and that he didn't already have. It's from his office in the show, but it has, like, zero sentimental value (other than depicting a territory that he's newly the king of). It's just a map that he used for things you would use a map for.

However, the map markers are flat, slate-like pieces of stone that have been painted blue with white markings (that image is desaturated; they're washed-out aqua blue), and those can be all over town. They're not especially useful or interesting to anyone, they're just rocks.

Backstory note, though: Show viewers may remember map markers from previous seasons: they look like substantial chess pieces in the shapes of the sigils of different noble houses (wolf heads for Starks, lion heads for Lannisters, etc). Well, somebody's brother lost the war and lost his head, and along with that, he lost the Stark map markers. So stones are all they have now. These were painted by someone at Castle Black at some point in the absence of money to use for fancy carved map markers.
