As stated in the rundown, an attempt to pass through the mountains without some kind of magical support would almost certainly end in being frozen or starving to death. If properly prepared, crossing them would take another few days. On the other side is a large expanse of tundra, similar to the one surrounding the city. Further exploration across that would require another couple weeks, after which the explorer would reach an icy ocean.

On the ice sheet leading to the water can be found strange creatures that look somewhat like large sea slugs, though they're about the side of a golden retriever. Maybe Atem can try a new kind of cuisine?
