Event Post: Dreamwalker

THE RUNDOWN

Hey, you know who hasn't shown his face in awhile? That silly rascal, Fear! And since it's been a few months since he's stared you all down, he figures that it's time to get back in the game and dish out some truly scary events... namely, he thinks that as long as you guys are having nightmares, he might as well put you in one another's dreams and benefit from it. Double nightmares! But don't worry, the other gods will try to stop him and have your back.

On May 16th, Fear will make a network post, in which he will basically taunt you guys and talk about how he's going to make you experience one another's nightmares. Rude! Luckily, the other gods will see this and intervene, making the event something of a free-for-all.

From May 16th-May 26th, characters will find an immeasurable wave of exhaustion descend upon them at roughly the same time each night- yes, even you weirdos who don't sleep at all! Upon falling asleep, will either be a Host or a Visitor. Hosts will be 'touched' by one of the four gods: Fear, Hope, Rage, or Delight, and have corresponding dreams. Visitors will enter into the dreams of a Host and the two of them will experience the dream together.

Have fun as you traverse one another's deepest nightmares or happiest dreams. Watch out for the angry dreams, and do try to enjoy the hopeful ones.

On May 27th, the gods will declare a stalemate and everyone's sleep schedule and dreams will return to normal.

THE DETAILS

Each character can be a Host or a Visitor as many times as you like, but they can only be one each night, for a total of ten nights. This means you can be a Visitor for seven nights and a Host for three, or a Host for all ten nights, with no visiting. Whichever you like! Visitors may visit multiple dreams per night, while Hosts can have multiple visitors per night. It's up to you guys to decide if you want your characters to be aware of repeating dreams or not.

Likewise, each Host can be touched by a single god as many times as they like, with a rule of one dream per hosting night. Five hosting nights, with five Delight dreams? Go ahead! Seven hosting nights with three Fear dreams and four Rage dreams? Have at it!

As far as the dreams themselves are concerned, here are a few ideas of the types of dreams that each god would influence:

Fear: What are you afraid of? Typical nightmares of monsters chasing you, falling forever, running from something? Worst fears and most terrifying memories are all applicable as well. Dreams of Fear's previous events are also possibilities!
Hope: What do you want? Even if it's not possible- a dead friend or family member to return to you, winning endless riches, or succeeding in a long quest.
Rage: What makes you angry? It could be a dream about someone winning something you wanted more than anything, something completely unfair, or that person whose lights you want to punch out. Hey, maybe it's a dream of Fear's face on a punching bag!
Delight What pleases you? Sunny days, picnics in meadows, your favorite food made exactly how you like it... where will you be happiest? What are your favorite things?

These aren't hard guidelines or anything, either- they're just suggestions, if you're having trouble coming up with something!

As a final note, opting out of the dream event is A-ok! Your character does not have to be affected by the exhaustion waves and/or dreamsharing. You also don't need to have 10 nights worth of threads; both handwaving and opting out on certain nights is just fine! The gods are definitely capable of overlooking a few characters.

► May 16th-26th: Welcome to snoozeville, population: you and that weird guy you met at the store last week.
► May 27th: Finally, a decent night of sleep!

Rey

I do have plans for Rey to be visiting some dreams, but she will also be hosting a few of her own. A bit of warning, as the nature of some of her dreams will be potentially triggering (i.e. themes of suicide, self-harm, and murder are pretty common).

Fear
- Falling dream. Rey is plummeting down an abyss with a hole in her head, and she could probably use a hand in trying to stop. :|
- Being trapped in Glass House - a type of solitary confinement in which the original Rey had been imprisoned within for some time. (Sample Scenario.)

Rage
- (TW: Self Harm) Rey is standing in front of a bathroom mirror, until she has another one of her episodes. A good one for anyone who wants to know about the origin of her facial scars. Ironically, the incident will be a mixture of rage and an odd sense of delight, given the manic nature of her actions.

Delight
- Being in a Chinese restaurant back in future!Chicago, and possibly being visited by her brother. Feel free to join them. :)

Hope
- It'll be kind of a bittersweet scenario of Rey in a frozen hotel lobby. Everything will be illegible/in Russian, as Rey is accompanied by a redhead whom she has certain affections for. They will be sitting in front of a fire as Rey is being given for the past misdeeds of one of her former selves.

There's a lot that I can work with here, and I'm open to pretty much anything!

i've been mulling over just what i'm going to do for this for like the ass end of forever and i think i've finally come to a conclusion. or two. or three. WE'LL SEE WHAT HAPPENS.

sam is going to have two dreams; one fear and one hope.
fear will probably end up being an amalgamation of all the things he's consistently and, maybe, unconsciously terrified of. enter in the fears about letting people that he cares about down, highest on that list being dean and castiel, but a general feeling of being helpless when it comes to being of use to the friends he's made here might also make an appearance. toss in memories of hell and fearing getting shoved back down there again and maybe a clown or two, and you've got yourself a perfectly-tailored nightmare for one ( 1 ) sam winchester. ( and maybe we'll throw in some memories of being a wendigo and getting himself killed because of it. that sounds like fun. )

hope will play heavily on his desire to be useful, no matter where he is or how. i haven't fully hashed this out yet but there will probably be some vague reference to having not finished the trials and wanting to be able to close the gates of hell once and for all, to make up for all the stupid mistakes he ( and dean ) have made in the past. ( like … bringing on the apocalypse. you know. the easy stuff. )

north will also have two; fear and delight. ( because somebody deserves to be happy for a little while, right. )
fear will heavily weigh on having made the right decision to stay with the project once he heard of york's desertion, because he's been wondering for quite a while if his loyalties were misplaced. if york had a good enough reason to desert, it had to have meant something, and granted this isn't such a horrifying thing as one might think but north never really second-guesses himself like he is now, and it eats away at him. there is also the constant fear of his sister getting herself into something that she can't get out of, which he's had his entire life, and this might just amplify it a little.

delight is definitely going to be spending time with his friends, the other freelancers, away from the mother of invention and possibly actually on shore leave. maybe just sitting around, sharing drinks and stories while some old movie plays in the background that no one is really paying attention to. it's nothing grand by any means, but north has always been a simple sort of thing, and just being surrounded by his closest friends and family and being able to take a load off is enough for him. besides, there's no telling when any of them got any of this last. they deserve it.

So, Kate is having three totally open dreams, influenced by FEAR, RAGE, and DELIGHT.

Starting with DELIGHT: blowing a hole in Hadriel and getting the fuck out. Rocks fall, everyone climbs out into sunny LA. Kate ends up meeting her friends and coworkers and chilling out, with no crises or battles or anything.

RAGE: Kate will be trapped in the Colosseum with no way to get out. Alongside her will be the Jabberjays and a woman, her old boss. Said woman will be taunting Kate in various ways, and Kate will probably be trying to beat the shit out of her. NOTE: Julia (Kate's ex-boss) has the ability to absorb powers and will retain it for the dream. Obviously this will not affect anything after the characters wake up, but characters with powers may find them gone if they try to attack Julia.

FEAR: And this time, Kate will realise (thank you dormant telepathic link)* that her best friend brother from another mother has turned up in the Colosseum. She'll dash there to see him and help him fight his way out of the immense number of beasts, but eventually she'll be frozen and unable to speak or communicate with him while something lands a fatal blow.
*Optional: Characters may also get to experience the telepathic link as part of the dream.

During the Rage and Fear dreams, Residents of Spire 4, near room 801, will probably hear a lot of screaming and/or slamming doors/drawers/stompy footsteps after a dream.

Gren

So, I had a few ideas for Gren's dreams, but I'm also down with doing whatever, so if you've got something in particular that you want, just let me know!

I was going to do a Delight dream for him involving the Murderpotato In His Natural Habitat-- the back woods of Denmark, pre-shit going down with Hrothgar days. Lots of snow and pine trees and quiet places, and Gren actually having some small amount of chill. (He may also still try to eat you. Nothing personal.)

For those who would like to see the shittier side of Murderpotato, I was also planning on a Rage dream involving the partygoing asshats of Heorot; namely, Gren on one of his many murder-binges to go mess up his shitty loud neighbors. This will involve him gatecrashing what ends up being the worst wedding ever, where instead of wedding gifts, everyone gets death. Come see the raging murderpotato eat the groom or smth.

The last one I was thinking of doing was a Fear dream, where Gren is at the Business Office in Fabletown, trying to convince anyone who might listen to him to help him look for a missing woman. The woman in question is Holly, pretty much the only friend he has left, and also the sister to one of the women who got murdered in The Wolf Among Us. No one who has the power to do something will listen to him, which is pretty much what happened prior to TWAU.
