THE RUNDOWN

Alrighty kids, hope you're prepared for your seventh god resurrection! Upon the revival of Tranquility on December 27th, the city will be undergoing a change!

Well. Maybe not the city itself, but how you see it certainly will. Along with the clearing of the roads and the addition of new and shiny vehicles, the city itself will seem... cleaner? Fresher, definitely. Instead of being sort of dusty and made of stone, the buildings will be glimmering and beautiful, nestled neatly together in rows. The spires will be replaced by skyscrapers, all steel and glass and pristine. Roads are paved, and the sky- yes, the sky is in an eternal sunset above you, always casting just enough light to be useful, but not too much to be annoying.

What's more, the city is open to the air, with no confining walls around you. Instead, Hadriel is a city on an island, with sand and gentle waves surrounding the buildings and ocean as far as the eye can see.

During this event, from December 27th-January 7th, everyone affected will be living in this paradise of a seaside city. Tranquil and calm, Hadriel will be free from monster attacks or fear events in this time, and everything- the cabinets, the water faucets, the storefront- will be gaining a much-needed facelift.

Of course, it's all a facade put on by Tranquility himself, and none of it is real. Swim too far out to sea and run into an invisible wall, try to fly too high in the sky and smash into the stone ceiling. Can you really feel the sand trickling through your fingers or is your brain playing tricks on you? There are cracks in the surface of it that grow more pronounced as the event carries on, things that might seem off or odd to you- such as the weight of a beach ball that's actually just a large rock, or the smooth metal of a skyscraper suddenly feeling like coarse stone under your fingers. If you focus too hard on the cracks, it might just fall apart and leave the regular old city in its wake- shattering the illusion and leaving you seeing everything for what it is for the remainder of the event.

You can try to convince your friends to leave the illusion as well or just get mad at the gods- either way, would you rather your loved ones experience a beautiful lie or the same old truth?
THE DETAILS
The city's roads were, frankly, not in good working condition. They were undrivable, difficult to traverse, and full of large rocks, broken glass, and other rubble. With Tranquility's resurrection, these roads are now clear and the streets are smoothed down for ease of the vehicles.

But what vehicles, you ask? Well, in a central hub in the city, which will be marked in place by our new map, Tranquility has created mopeds! These vehicles go a max of 25 mph and come in magenta, sunny yellow, sky blue, and peach orange. No black or grey or any colors that aren't bright and cheerful, but you're cool with that, right? The vehicles are electric, and you'll find charging hubs for them in the lot- god-created mopeds have a pretty good battery life though and will only need to be charged about once a week for eight hours or so. Still, none of them can lock or require keys, so you might want to stand guard to make sure that nobody steals your precious, uh, moped.

The mopeds, as well as their charging station, will remain in the city, even after the end of the event when the illusion wears off and everyone is back to grimy, gloomy Hadriel again.

Tranquility himself will also be making a network post to announce his presence early on into the event, so be on the lookout for that as well!

THE OVERVIEW

► December 27th: Tranquility is revived: the streets clear, the mopeds appear, and the cave city becomes a beach city!
► January 2nd: Tranquility network post
► January 7th: Just when you were getting a pretty nice tan, the illusion of the beach flickers and dies... but at least we still have some hip ways of getting from house to house!

HELLO I AM HERE WITH MY SILLY QUESTIONS LIKE ALWAYS.

By "eternal sunset" does that mean that the day/night cycles are halted throughout the entire event? And if so, could that affect anyone's internal clock/sense of time in any way?

While we originally intended it to halt the day/night cycles, we see that people have written starters assuming that the sun actually sets and the stars come out! We'd rather not force anyone to retcon that, so instead the sun will continue on a usual day/night schedule, the difference from normal being that the sky can be seen.

Cool beans, thanks! I assume that the night sky won't show any familiar constellations of the Earth variety?

Not particularly! The constellations will be essentially randomized each night, so what may seem vaguely familiar one night would be completely unrecognizable the rest.

yo is the silent hill zone affected?

Great question! Our original intent for the Silent Hill zone was to have it be a character-created location that supersedes god influence. I think we've made mention in the past that Hope has tried to change it back to normal-city zone, but it just won't take and eventually reverts back to Silent Hill zone in the end.

To that extent, Tranquility may also give it a shot, and the general changes in the city (the architecture, the sky, etc) will be applicable to Silent Hill, however, the area is still under the influence of Silent Hill- ie, there are still fog, sirens, and monsters. Pyramid Head may or may not be wearing a Hawaiian shirt as he eviscerates you, that's all.

Additionally, the Silent Hill zone will start 'cracking' earlier than the rest of the city, and as the event goes on, the illusion will have a harder time maintaining itself in there- so characters who frequent this zone (I WONDER WHO WOULD DO THAT...) may be tipped off earlier than their friends.

I have a late question!

Do items obtained during the Tranquility event remain? Like if a character gets something from a shop, will it vanish when the city changes back?

And a slightly late answer - it won't vanish, but it will turn back into whatever it actually is! So your flip-flops might turn into grubby sneakers and your pina colada mix into regular orange juice.

If someone were to take a photo at this time, would it also retain the illusion?

Yes, the photo would be an image of whatever was taken, illusion and all!
