Event Post: Dead Ringers

THE RUNDOWN

Seeing as to how Confusion and Fear are both glorified internet trolls, it's no surprise that they would team up so quickly to snag a little extra power here and there. Unfortunately, this extra power is going to be at the expense of you all, and it'll probably look pretty familiar...

On January 16th, the city will be flooded with doubles of each (opting-in) character. These doubles aren't a fighting army or anything like that- instead, they're sneaky, duplicitous, and out to ruin the lives of the original. They have all the same memories and abilities as their originals, but their purpose will be to cause hardship and ruin the lives of their originals. They'll do this in any way possible- from simple things like fighting with their best friend, to more drastic things, like hurting someone or destroying something that the original loves.

While they don't necessarily have to be violent, it only makes sense that they would try to remove their original from the picture through murder or imprisoning them somewhere. The more the doubles can give off the impression that nothing out of the ordinary is going on, the more effective they can be- and so any confrontation with their original is ideally going to be alone, where others can't see them. Due to this, it may take some time before the ordinary citizens realize that anything is going on... and by then, it might be too late.

Can you kill someone who looks identical to you? Can you trust anyone, when your best friend may actually be out to kill you and your roommate might be secretly planning to set your bed on fire?

THE DETAILS

Each player will play both their own character and their double for the event. If the double kills the original, then they will have the pleasure of playing an evil clone until the event is over! Doubles will not have network access on their own, but after they've... taken care of the originals, they can use their phones and network ID to continue sowing discord that way.

Additionally, all doubles will be able to recognize one another. Whether they use this to plot among themselves or simply to easier isolate the non-doubled targets is up to you!

Hope will be unable to resurrect the originals (if they die) until January 25th, which signals the end of the event. If the original managed to kill their clone, then they have nothing to worry about- if the original wasn't quite so lucky and the double lived on until Confusion's disbanding, then the originals may come back to live with the memories of what their double had done, though that's up to the player!

THE OVERVIEW

► January 16th: The doubles infiltrate the city, intent on taking the place of their originals or ruining their lives some other way.
► January 20th: By now, it's fairly obvious that Hope isn't resurrecting any of the dead originals!
► January 25th: Confusion finally sends the clones away, leaving Hope free to resurrect the dead remaining in the city. The event is over, and the originals may gain the memories of what their clones did in their absence.

Frisk

Look okay I'm not as hip and cool as the rest of my cast but Frisk's double will be responding from calledforhelp and is...a literal shit heel. A literal shit heel?

Yes.

Given the canon, this double is essentially going to be on the lookout to gain a little more LOVE, and what better way to gain that than to kill basically everything you come across, right? Their LV is 14 (think in terms of pokemon, multiply LV 14 by 5, and you've got your answer on how strong-ish that would be) so they'd be a fresh, fun thing to fight with, and an all around baller of a great person to chat to- full of wit, verve, and extensive bitterness at their lot in life.

Their main beef is with everyone in general. No one is safe.

As an additional bonus things like Self Preservation and Worthwhile don't really exist in Frisk's personal dictionary so once their double finds them they're literally just gonna...lay down and let it kick the shit out of them. Like a good kid.

Rydia's double will just be a copy of Rydia whose final goal is to make other people feel miserable and sad. She will be smiling most of the time and appear friendly like her original self most of the time but do her best to enable people's worst behaviours/humiliate them/make them feel miserable. Sadly Rydia lacks big secrets worth sharing but who says she can't make up things about the real one?

Don't trust that big smile, she only wants to hurt you!

Armand

Armand's double will be indiscriminately drinking blood from anyone with a bare throat and generally being destructive and violent when approached. If you'd like to have your character drunk from but not killed (or if you DO want them killed), let me know!

For the fun part, I want original Armand killed for this event. If you'd like to have your character kill him as a mistake in trying to dispose of the double, I'd be down for that. If not Evil!Armand will get to it first.

You know, given that Rey isn't human I've always wondered what the effects of a vamp drinking her blood would be. While her skeleton is metal and her brain and heart are cybernetic, the rest of her is very organic and contains an immortal cell line that helps preserve her body as well as result in advanced healing.

Otherwise, idk she can set Armand on fire if you'd like, lol. Unless he'd just avoid her entirely since he knows she can do that.

HMMM. Ricepires ingest whatever is in a human's blood and it kind of effects them I guess? So maybe it would all right.

Hell yes, lets do this. Just fuck him up.

Maybe we have it that evil!Armand drinks from Rey and escapes and then real Armand who is trailing the doppelganger ends up in her line of fire? literally

Sato is getting an evil double for the event. How will you know the difference? WELL... that's a good question, isn't it? They are going to act very very similar, with two small differences: evil double is out to ruin the little bit of positive CR he has AND will steal and break his Vita. RIP Vita, you had a good run.

Unfortunately Sato can't kill his double, and his double can't kill him, resulting in a bit of a cat and mousecat hunt across the city, with Regular Sato trying to keep an eye on his double, and Sato #2 trying to kill regular Sato enough to steal his phone and make things even harder on him. So basically, they'll have their hands full with each other -- but if anyone wants to run into this madness and try to tell them apart, that could get pretty wild.

I'm waffling a little on whether I should or shouldn't have a double of Tyki. One, he's already sort of evil and two, he won't be able to kill his double and his double won't be able to kill him. Not to mention he's not exactly going to try to restrain it at all. He's out to impress no one at the moment. A lot of his CR left. The only one that will be capable of it is currently Kanda Yu.

Besides, it would take far too much effort on his part to try to stop it.... orz

His double will be far more aggressive, act less human than Tyki does seeing as Tyki still doesn't give into his Noah entirely. It'll want to kill and kill for pleasure without any restraint on who or what they are.

So Kylo isn't getting a double for this event, because let's face it, would anyone be able to actually tell?

Ushahin is getting one, who is basically him minus all the warmth, and with a lot more of the contempt Ellyl tend to have for all other races. He's basically going to think he's better than everyone else and decide that destroying every positive relationship and making the bad ones even worse is a splendid idea, because the little people don't really matter anyway.

At first, he'll ignore the original, and when Ushahin becomes too much of a pain because he's trying to stop the double, the double is going to gut stab him, thinking that's going to kill him. Since Ushahin is made of tougher stuff than that, he'll rally his strength one last time, and put every bit of his power into frying the double's brain, killing him to protect his friends. Alas, the stab wound is too much, and he bleeds out, dying in a very painful manner.

If anyone would like to hurt him, be my guest, because Nick is going to heal him at some point during the event.

On another note, Ushahin's psychic, so I leave it up to you guys with doubles as to whether you want him to notice they're not quite right. If not, he'll just be unable to because the minds are too similar. If so, he's probably gonna freak out.

Jill Valentine

Jill's double will be her persona from Resident Evil 5. Sometimes referred to as the 'bird woman'. She won't be showing her identity all the time, preferring to move about with a hooded cloak and mask, but expect to see her creeping about. I don't have specific plans for this, but I can hopefully throw both Jill and her double at some people!

Maketh's double just acknowledged to him that she killed both Guard leaders. So he's put out a call on the network to ask who in the guard is still alive and kicking? Here.

Ikaruga is brand new and won't have an evil double. Plus, she's morally questionable enough to not really need one. However, she will interact with any and all evil doubles...so if anyone wants to make a really awful first impression on a new character, feel free.

Cashmere

Evil!Cashmere will be doing a few things: harassing people via network & inbox, getting into (probably physical) fights, and openly flirting with people in inappropriate ways. Essentially she's gonna be a Mean Girl and try to undo all the friendships and alliances she's made.

SO if you wanna be bullied via network let's do it! or hit on etc etc.

Original Cashmere is quick to anger anyway, so she'll probably get herself into trouble too.

I'm open to all sorts of things so lmk!

Curufiin is not going to have a double in this event, since I just got through playing him as a crazed demolition expert in the Rage event. Maybe another time. XD

In the Doubles event, he's going to be the good guy. He's just recently joined the City Guard and taken on patrol and newcomer-protection responsibilities. So when the doubles start appearing, it may take him a day or two but he'll realize that something bad is happening to most of his coworkers. He'll try to make contact with any of them who are still themselves and not yet murdered by anybody else's doubles. (Edit: this network post.)

He'll attempt to defend HQ against Rey's Evil Twin (and Sato's, too?), who is going to try to blow a hole in the building. The gods only know what the result of that will be!
