hadriel_ooc | Monthly Rundown: December Edition

Thank you all for a great first two months of Hadriel! December marks a little kickstart to the game's plot, with the first god resurrection! We're looking forward to seeing who will be chosen to get the first breath of life, and we hope that you guys are stoked too!

Also, please remember to hit up the Current AC post if you haven't done so yet! Characters accepted in November do not require AC proofs, but we do require a check-in on the post!

DECEMBER PART 1: GODS OF FEELINGS PAST

You may remember Hope asking the characters for offerings and ideas of things that made them hopeful in November. Thankfully, your offerings were satisfactory and able to give him enough power to revive the first god! On December 3rd, Hope will make a post and give the characters the lowdown: while he can't send them home due to his lack of knowledge about the Door, another god may be able to help- and it just so happens that he can resurrect one of three options, which he will ask your characters to vote on so he can make sure that he has the majority approval. Which gods will your characters be allowed to choose from?
RAGE: Rage will be the first option. She sides with neither Hope nor Fear, and initially will oppose both of them. If Rage is selected, there will be an event at the end of the month for her revival, which will focus on bringing all those angry feelings out in your character!

CONFUSION: Confusion is option number two! Unlike Rage, Confusion sides with both Fear and Hope, merging her power with either of them for combination events whenever it feels the most advantageous to her. If Confusion is selected, her event theme will run more on the typical jamjar event aesthetic, and she will have her first event at the end of December.

DELIGHT: Delight is behind door number three. As one of the weakest of the gods, she sides with Hope in his battle against Fear, and will throw her power in with Hope's own to create very pleasant events. If Delight is selected, she will have an event at the end of December that might make your characters feel a little more happy to be here!

Each potential god has their own set of pros and cons that they bring to the table, so try to let your characters consider their options carefully! As a note, each god will also have the power to create a unique building in the city upon their revival. Some buildings will be better or more useful than others, and all building options will be presented ICly in Hope's post on December 3rd.

While you guys can argue over which god would be best to bring back, new arrivals will appear in the intro log on December 10th. They're not alone, however- new characters will be arriving with taxxons from the Animorphs book series!

Taxxons are large, grotesque centipede-like monsters, with bulbous red eye stalks and a circular mouth full of sharp teeth. While not intelligent, they are dominated by a single-minded hunger, and will go into a gluttonous frenzy at the slightest scent of blood. So, you know, keep your band-aids handy!

DECEMBER PART 2: RED SNOW

While the newbies get settled in and the oldies try to come to a decision about gods, Fear thinks that it's high time he got a little more appreciation for scaring you so thoughtfully on a regular basis.

Therefore, between the days of December 14th-December 18th, Hadriel will experience... snow?

That's right, kiddos, it's snowing in Murdercave, and Fear is turning the lights out for some spooky winter horror. During the length of the event, the artificial lights will be greatly dimmed and the day cycle will be nonexistent. Snow will start to fall, the paths will ice over and get slippery, and yetis (yetii?) will start to show up. These bloodthirsty beasts blend in well with the snow and are looking to ruin your day by... well, eating you. Yeti can hunt in pairs or by themselves, and overall there will be 5-10 throughout the city searching for a snack. Might want to watch out, or that snack could be you!

Edit 12/1: In addition to yeti here and there, there will also be White Walkers from the Game of Thrones/ASOIAF series meandering about the snowy wasteland as well! These 'ice zombies' are somewhat intelligent and destructive, stronger than the average human, and often using weapons made of ice. However, their most potent ability lies in their reanimation power, as they can raise the dead bodies of their victims to fight alongside them as wights.

While Hope is too busy trying to stockpile his power for the resurrection, he will take pity on your characters' poor, frozen fingers and attempt to help them out by supplying the storefronts with cold weather jackets, hats, and gloves. There's not enough for everyone though, so beat the Black Friday crowds and grab yours before it's gone!

At the end of the event, Hope will strike a deal with Fear: push the monsters out to the outskirts of the city with the rest of them and return the lighting to normal in exchange for a future favor...

DECEMBER PART 3/JANUARY PART 1: ???

The final event of December will stretch into the first week of January and will span December 26th-January 6th. This event is based entirely on which god gets revived, which is a direct result of what your characters vote on. Choose wisely!
