Event Post: Dreamwalker the Second

THE RUNDOWN

Things have been pretty wild lately, both for the gods and for all you poor residents of Hadriel. So it should be no surprise that the gods have decided to put on an event that gives them all a chance for a little power - and it helps that when they did it before, it worked pretty well. No one was even that mad! Just the usual mad levels. That means it's time for the second Dreamwalker event.

How does this work? Well, a lot like the first one, only split in two so all the gods can get in on it. From October 14th-20th, your dreams will be influenced by Delight, Rage, Sorrow, and Hope. After that, you get a couple days to rest, and then Fear, Love, Confusion, and Tranquility take over and invade your dreams from October 23rd-29th. It doesn't matter if you try to stay up, or even if you normally don't sleep at all - at the same time late each evening, a wave of exhaustion will come over you and you'll fall fast asleep.

Once you've fallen asleep, you will either be a Host or a Visitor. Hosts will be 'touched' by one of the gods and have corresponding dreams. Visitors will enter into the dreams of a Host and the two of them will experience the dream together. Hosts can be influenced by a maximum of one god each night.

THE DETAILS

Each character can be a Host or a Visitor as many times as you like, but they can only be one each night, for a total of seven nights in each week. This means you can be a Visitor for five nights and a Host for two, or a Host for all seven nights, with no visiting. Whichever you like! Visitors may visit multiple dreams per night, while Hosts can have multiple visitors per night. It's up to you guys to decide if you want your characters to be aware of repeating dreams or not.

Likewise, each Host can be touched by a single god as many times as they like, with a rule of one dream per hosting night. Five hosting nights, with five Delight dreams? Go ahead! Seven hosting nights with three Fear dreams and four Rage dreams? Have at it! And during the day, everyone goes about their lives as normal - unless they really need to talk about these dreams with someone.

As far as the dreams themselves are concerned, here are a few ideas of the types of dreams that each god would influence:

Delight: What pleases you? Sunny days, picnics in meadows, your favorite food made exactly how you like it... where will you be happiest? What are your favorite things?
Rage: What makes you angry? It could be a dream about someone winning something you wanted more than anything, something completely unfair, or that person whose lights you want to punch out.
Sorrow: What makes you sad? The death of someone you love, a great regret, a missed opportunity? It could be all the miseries of the world, or just very personal miseries.
Hope: What do you want? Even if it's not possible- a dead friend or family member to return to you, winning endless riches, or succeeding in a long quest.
Fear: What are you afraid of? Typical nightmares of monsters chasing you, falling forever, running from something? Worst fears and most terrifying memories are all applicable as well. Dreams of Fear's previous events are also possibilities!
Love: What, or who, do you love? This doesn't need to be romantic love, but it can be. Your parents, your best friend, your boyfriend - maybe even your ex. Or something more ephemeral: a hobby, a feeling, a time in your life.
Confusion: What you fucks you up? An answer you've never gotten, something that might linger in the back of your mind still. Something that twists your thoughts into tangles. Losing something (maybe yourself), getting tricked, being manipulated.
Tranquility: What calms you down? Your home, the quiet presence of a friend, finally getting to rest. When was the most content you've ever felt, and what caused it? Calmer than happiness, more subtle than love.

These aren't hard guidelines or anything, either- they're just suggestions, if you're having trouble coming up with something!

As a final note, opting out of the dream event is A-ok! Your character does not have to be affected by the exhaustion waves and/or dreamsharing. You also don't need to have threads every night; both handwaving and opting out on certain nights is just fine! The gods are definitely capable of overlooking a few characters.

So, thanks to Aren being a dwarf she doesn't naturally dream. (Because of Grey Warden stuff, though, she does have occasional dreams relating to darkspawn.) Is it safe to say that racial issue has been overridden somehow, or would she not be able to create dreams of her own?

There are only two dreams I want to do for sure, with up to three visitors for each:

Fear: being buried alive in her car with her friend and coworker Hodgins. This happened in canon (way back in season 2) and the memory of being buried has been shown to haunt her dreams even through season 9. Hodgins will be unconscious post-compartment syndrome surgery (it was an emergency, she only did it because he would die otherwise, it was Really Rough ugh), and Brennan will be scrambling to somehow get out of what is in essence a grave. She'll appear cool under pressure but is definitely screaming on the inside. c: (One visitor slot reserved for Drake.)

Sorrow: A few days before Christmas 1990, Brennan's parents never came back from a shopping trip. About a week after that, on January 2, 1991, Brennan watched her older brother get into his car and drive away, leaving her completely alone in the world, just days before her 16th birthday. The dream will take place in the house, immediately after Russ has driven away. Being a smart kid, she's going to know what this means for her: because she's a minor and has no legal adult to be her guardian, she's going into foster care. (One visitor slot reserved for Adam.)

Okay, so Kate is definitely gonna host a few dreams because I'm trash.

First up, Love is going to give her a fun Christmas time spent with her best friends from home. So, a lot of cute Christmas shenanigans, presents being exchanged, food and drink etc.

Fear also hosts two incredibly important dreams. In the first, the horror of horrors... there's no more booze in the murdercave. Hadriel has run completely dry. :') what an awful day. In the second, and more seriously, there's gonna be a big motherfuckin' dragon terrorising the city. Because who doesn't like to remember that time they got vaporised in Hadriel?

And for Tranquility ( yes, she has some chill, it's shocking I know ), Kate is gonna revisit being younger and enjoying watching bonfire night fireworks on the roof.

As for the first week, Kate will be dealing with Sorrow and a rather convoluted what if dream which will start with the concept of what if Kate's family was never murdered and she ended up the athlete she always wanted to be?

Only a couple dreams for Eddie to have that people are welcome to come visit.

Delight: This one is simple enough and is almost a cliche of the sunny days and picnics in meadows. It'll be Eddie hanging out with his friends, buying ice creams and hanging out in the grassy areas of the Barrens down by the Kenduskeag river. The sun is shining, reflecting off the water in almost sparkles. It's a perfect time and nothing can burst this bubble of tranquility and happiness. Eddie is happiest with his friends afterall, out of his mother's grasp and with those who don't judge him by what ailments he may or may not have.

Fear: This one is set in Derry's hospital where Eddie is sat in the Emergency Room with a whole lot of other people who seem to be coughing and sneezing a lot. All he knows is he's waiting for the results of tests that he's had because "there's something very wrong with him" according to the Doctor. There's a bonus in that all of the medical staff seem to have unexplained orange poms on their shoes or lapels. The doors are locked and there's no discernible way out, so all anyone can do is sit, wait and try not to have a complete and utter meltdown over how bad it really is. Occasionally what looks like some leper monstrosity can be seem shuffling up and down a nearby corridor with only locked doors separating it and the rest of the waiting room.

Assuming Aren can dream, I figure Sorrow can be responsible for her dreaming of her place of origin, Dust Town. It's a section of the great city of Orzammar, where the casteless live, beg, and resort to crime in order to survive. Great place. Her verbally abusive drunk of a mother and sweet but sad sister would definitely make cameos.

Or Sorrow could show her Ostagar, the site where her fellow Grey Wardens were massacred and everything went to shit. It's a place where hope was answered with brutally crushed dreams.

Rage can be the battle at Ostagar, seeing the betrayal of the Grey Wardens first hand.

It could also be about her first Proving, masquerading as a noble warrior and getting caught, arrested as a casteless unworthy of the tradition.

Hope...I dunno, maybe the coronation? The Blight's over, she gets recognized as a hero, blah blah blah. I'm more interested in the horrible dreams, though, so we'll see.

Love could either be the time she helped cure Barkspawn at Ostagar, or revealing her other huge soft spot, her sister. Maybe in happier circumstances, when Rica's living at the royal palace.

Fear has to be visiting the Dead Trenches again. Who wants to meet a Broodmother?

She could also be nearing her Calling, so people would get to see what happens to Grey Wardens when they've reached the end of their time.

Tranquility could be her at the Blight camp, with all her companions. That's the closest she's ever gotten to contentment, and a feeling of belonging.

Terrence Ephemera/Sharkface

Hell yeah, I've been waiting for this event.

Ephemera will be hosting a couple dreams. First up will be Delight, which, depending on how your character feels about heights, might not be so fun after all. See, Ephemera is a former ODST and used to jump out of spaceships for a living. No, they did not use parachutes. His delight dream will be a training jump with his former squad, miraculously not dead. Have fun! And try not to scream too much on the way down.

Next up will be Hope, which is going to feature a what if scenario where one of Ephemera's teammates (specifically Chica) doesn't die. Canonically she drowns after losing her helmet and getting dropkicked into the ocean. In this particular dream, Ephemera drags her out and with your character's help, can revive her.

And lastly there will be Rage. This is going to be a particularly violent dream, revisiting a memory of when Ephemera and his team took revenge on a group of mercenary soldiers who attacked and seriously hurt Ephemera and two of his squad-mates. It's not going to be pretty.

Maketh Tua

This will be Maketh's second time with this event and she is not pleased. But I am, so let's do this thing!

Currently I'm planning on doing three dreams for Maketh. The first will be Sorrow and revisiting a scene from her post-Academy days. In this particular dream, a very young Maketh will be serving on a battleship, the Kalu that is attempting to take over a small mining colony. She happens to be the one who suggests dropping a bomb on the main settlement and then murdering the survivors. Her advice is then followed.

Next up is Fear, where an even younger Maketh (age six) works with her mother (the blind, former bounty hunter) to deal with the local raiders. They play a game called paint the target.

And finally there will be Love, which will take place in the speakeasy while Rey is tending bar. Maketh will be sitting in a corner, drinking whiskey and watching everyone get along. It's the promise of a better, saner life.

:o I know that you're throwing Maketh at one of Rome's dreams, but I'd love for him to visit her as well! Seeing as how Fear/Love is in the same week as Tranquility, maybe he could visit her Sorrow dream? Up to you though, whichever you'd like him to see!

Rey, for starters, will be having Love-themed dreams with Maketh Tua and Nick Valentine (separately, you sick puppies).

Other than that, some definite reoccurring dreams will revolve around Concordia and the sky prison! These dreams can fit into the Confusion and Rage category (but not on the same nights). Anyone who wants to experience the synthes from Rey's world (very relevant, given the presence of the recent Null) will have the perfect chance to find themselves either imprisoned or wandering around a subarctic city populated by synthetics. These locations will bare only vague semblances to the type of prisons and cities that a human person will be used to, with winding and confusing labyrinthine streets and passages. Humans and synthetics alike will be found locked up, tortured physically and psychologically, and experimented on into warped versions of their former selves. Definitely not for the faint of heart, but fun times nonetheless. More info on Concordia and the sky prison can be found in the link above.

Fear related dreams will involve a synthetic woman named IV. During the 4th Wall event last year, IV had made a brief appearance and caused a bit of trauma and unrest. Rey fears that she might come back someday and be a threat to those close to her.

She is also very available to visiting other people's dreams as well. I'm trying to think of some Delight and Hope-themed stuff for her, though, so she can have some nice things too, haha. :|

Ravine doesn't sleep, and therefore tends to be more of a visitor or than a host for dreams. But for the sake of the event, she will be hosting a couple, but they will be lucid -- in that she'll be fully, mentally aware that she is dreaming, even if she might not give this away.

Tranquility will revolved around her time of being alive and human in Neo Babylon. This is a good chance for characters to get to know that she is really That Old, as that isn't really something she would otherwise share. Want to hang out in an ancient dead kingdom? Now's your chance! Also she will be addressed by her birth name, Yehudit, as a prophet and advisor to the king.

The Sorrow dream will take place in the 1800s southern America, involving a girl named Elizabeth who is on her death bed with tuberculosis. Ravine has to reap her departed soul afterward. This girl was one of the first to inspire any sort of emotion in Ravine since before her own death, due to the compassion she had shown to Ravine.

Rosen, Delmar, Whistler

Rage :Rosen in his prison cell with people trying to convince him that he's insane and that his ALPHAs never existed.

Delmar: (Essentially open but please speak with me first cuz this one is IMPORTANT for delmar's character)
Love : This dream is going to, ideally, be what approaches the subject of Delmar's sexuality and his romantic history. It will involve young Delmar as well as Delmar's infatuation with James in canon and it will not be happy funtimez. and he will likely be initially horrified that anyone finds out.

I am going to try and be very careful with the handling of this one because i want it to eventually work towards something progressive for Delmar, not regressive.

Whistler: (OTA)
Confusion or Fear : This dream will be mainly from the final heist of Cosmo's complex. Primarily all the other member's of Whistler's team were captured and but Whistler gets overlooked because he hid under the van's work table, so its the confusion of what is going on, Whistler doesn't know who is taking his friends where and what on earth he can do about it, for all he knows everyone is about to be shot and thrown in the bay.

Ronan + Rome

Ronan (greywaren) is used to having crazy fucked up dreams, but he's for the mmmmmost part not used to folks walking around in them. So he will be having a Hope dream during the first half of the event! Ronan himself will not be in the dream at first, but his daughter psychopomp angry dream forest child brought to life... uh, a small girl with deer hooves who eats sticks will find the visitor and ask them to help her play hide and seek through the magical, barn-dotted farm of Ronan's childhood home! Together they'll go through some of Ronan's shit and eventually find Ronan himself at the end of it. Cute stuff.

Which will then be contrasted by his Fear dream later this month! Ronan's fear dream takes place inside of a forest slowly being consumed by night horrors, which are basically bird/dinosaur/whatever monsters that canonically represent Ronan's subconscious and try to murder him sometimes!

Though he's usually pretty good on the dream front now, Fear's influence will bring these horrors out in droves where they will attempt to kill anyone nearby. Ronan can and will save folks by sacrificing dream versions of himself and watching them be torn to shreds, which is all kinds of healthy. There may be references to suicide/self harm/etc in this one, so tread lightly!


Rome will be flipping it around and starting off with a Sorrow dream. The usually-stoic military dog will find himself and the visitor in one of the moments he regrets most in his life: a point where, acting on orders, he and his platoon eradicated a peaceful colony of werewolves. Dream/memory Rome will be actively hunting your characters and the other people around them while dreamer/Hadriel Rome intervenes and tries to save you while also trying to block this whole thing out because emotions are difficult and messy.

The second time around, he'll be having it... sort of better? With a Tranquility dream that's actually mostly about death. The dream will be about his first handler, who was rather abusive and is the reason Rome is so- y'know, the way he is. Anyway, the guy is dying in a darkened hospital with only Rome and your character at his side. Rome is there only because his duty obligates him to; when the man passes, the room around them goes just a little bit brighter.


I'm also more than willing to change any of these around! They're also subject to change from my end, and as I've only done 2 for each for the express purpose of being flexible enough to do more! If folks were interested, bonus options include some drag racing, murder witnessing, or demon possession on Ronan's end, and some childhood training, losing the only person he's ever loved, or some sparring practice with Rome! Just suggest something if you'd like something else too, I'm so excited for this event and I want to do all the things!!!!!

Taako and Alphys

DABS MY WHOLE WAY INTO THIS EVENT, both my characters will be getting a couple of themed dreams, so here's what's up. As a warning, some of these have sensitive topics, and will be marked appropriately.

ALPHYS
She'll be focused on round one, and will be getting dreams from Sorrow, Delight or Love, and Hope.

Sorrow: (CONTENT WARNING: SUICIDE, BODY HORROR) Before Alphys came to Hadriel, she was tasked with the goal of exploring a magic called Determination, in an attempt to free monsters from where humans locked them Underground centuries before. Unfortunately, her experiments went hella bad, and the (supposedly dead) monsters she was experimenting on came back to life and literally melted into one another, losing their personhood. Alphys had locked herself away in her lab, hiding from telling everyone what she had done, until the Human arrived. In a bid to win their favor, she asked her friend Mettaton to pretend to be their adversary so she could save them... and it ended up getting him killed. Before showing up in Hadriel, Alphys 'disappears' from the Underground, off the edge of a waterfall, and the Amalgamates starve to death because no one else knows they're trapped in her lab. Obviously, this is a big goddamn pain point, and the dream for her will center around her mourning- for her decisions,for the Amalgamates, for Mettaton. This one's gonna be serious as hell.

Delight/Love: IN HAPPIER NEWS, Alphys will also be getting a dream centered around Hadriel at the end of last year- back at the start of the year before the Doubles event, when all of her friends were living with her (Sans, Papyrus, and Undyne) and everything did not yet suck so bad. This may also include little nods to the skelebros prank war shenanigans last winter. The timeline's going to be a little woogedy (Undyne didn't show up until February, for example) but yeah. I haven't decided exactly which god this is going for yet, but it could be either depending on if I wanna do top levels in both halves of the event or not.

Hope: This one's going to feature a happier thought of a future, where she gets to go back home but a) isn't super dead and b) everyone gets to live happily ever after (a la True Pacifist ending). She needs something Nice.

TAAKO
He's getting a couple prompts too, based around Fear, Rage, and Confusion.

Fear: (TAZ spoilers through episode 47) So without going into too much detail, Taako used to have a traveling cooking show a number of years back, but that ended when he accidentally served a poisoned dish in the final episode and killed 40 people. He found out pretty recently that he wasn't actually responsible (he didn't do the poisoning, but he certainly wasn't kind to the guy who did it to get back at him) but he gets night terrors and still thinks about this pretty often. May or may not involve seeing some faces of the friends he's made here in the crowd.

Rage: Taako and his twin had a really scrappy childhood, being on their own from about 12 years old traveling between caravans and cooking to earn their keep. Obviously, this was rough as hell, and there were more than a few fights along the way. But also, like, cute child elves with noodly arms and ears way too big for their got damn heads.

Confusion: (TAZ spoilers through episode 66) About ~12 years ago, Taako suffered a huge memory wipe due to magic, causing him to lose the memories of about 100 years of his life and the memory of his twin sister. He's gotten those back lately, but the confusion dream is actually going to be around remembering what it was like to forget- and how hazy everything still is surrounding that time period, because boy howdy is that some mental stress. I'd like to play with scenery and the dream becoming very out of whack in this one, so it could get very weird.

Raidou, Prussia, Ed Grayson

Raidou is going to be visiting dreams. Don't worry, he won't make fun of you or tell your secrets to everyone.

Prussia is going to be getting a Tranquility dream, I'm thinking something related to Frederick II and flutes. I feel like being nice to him. It'll be sweet. Please tease him mercilessly later.

Ed is not so lucky. He gets either Fear or Sorrow. Which is too bad, because he literally hasn't slept in over 50 years (for reasons) and he'll be so happy to be doing it again, even briefly. Anyway, Ed will be dodgy about his past so this is a good time to air out some stuff. There's a lot of sorrow bringing him down in relation to the deaths of his wife, his only student and his best friend. Mostly his student, as it was the most recent and the most horrifying. It involves zombies loose on San Francisco, a whole lot of casualties and the FBI.

Washington

I've got a couple dreams I *definitely* want to do for Wash and will outline them below, but am open to tossing more abstract things up as well! If anyone would like to learn something about him in particular.

Confusion - a memory: Post-Epsilon's implantation, Wash is imprisoned in a Freelancer facility. He's literally in a padded room, kept drugged lest he follow Epsilon's example and kill himself, though he doesn't know why they want him alive at all anymore. He hallucinates, he self harms, he attacks the medics. He doesn't know his own name and no one comes to save him.
Warning: There's gonna be a good amount of trauma and triggery shit in this one, notably themes of torture, suicide, and using people as lab rats.

Hope - an impossibility: Wash is fighting the Meta, Sigma hovering nearby telling him to give up, that Agent Maine is gone. The Meta gets Wash by the throat, lifts him off the ground, and as a last-ditch effort he activates his EMP. Like in real life, the AI fragments that make up the Meta are destroyed. Sigma disappears. But in the dream, Maine was still in there somewhere. He comes back.
Warning: Though this one ends happy, it'll be very violent first.

Love/Delight (???) - a hypothetical future: Chilling with the Reds and Blues and Carolina somewhere, maybe Chorus in a rare moment of downtime. They're playing cards, sharing rations, making terrible jokes and Wash feels like he belongs. Like he means something to these people, like he's more than just a soldier.

Drake Holloway (SPOILERS)

Aaaaand here's what I've got planned so far, watch out for spoilers!

Love - a memory: He's in his mother's apartment with Liv, fixing the sink as his ma fusses over putting makeup on her. It's all very cute and domestic and they have a moment in the car afterwards as he washes the terrible makeup off her face. (It was really terrible makeup.)

Sorrow - a memory: Imprisonment in the Max Rager basement, stepping forward to protect the other prisoners and knowing that he's never going to see anyone he loves ever again. This dream will end with the needle sliding in, so there's no certainty that Drake is dead and no actual evidence of him being a zombie, the guards will only mention that he's being "cured."

Fear - a hypothetical future: In Hadriel, Hope's brains stop sustaining them and Drake goes into full on zombie mode, a raging starving Romero, and bashes Ephemera's head in.
** This dream I'm gonna require that you discuss with me first if you want your character to see it, since knowledge that Drake is a zombie is a really big deal for him. **

Richie Tozier

Richie is primarily going to be visiting other people's dreams, so please hit me up if you want a soul mouthed kid coming your way. I only really have two ideas for any potential visitors!

Delight: Friendship, basically. Richie's dream will take place in the arcade in Derry, with all six of his friends (Eddie Kaspbrak cameo!) surrounding him and looking a him kicking some major ass at Street Fighter. So much so, he gets the top score and writes 'ASS' as the winning name. It's every 80s kid's dream, especially since he's just taken the top spot from Henry Bowers, local bully. It doesn't matter that Henry Bowers doesn't even play Street Fighter, this is a dream, right?

Fear: the house on Neibolt street. Richie will be desperately trying to run from something and his only chance is into the house--what he's running from is never said, though despite the bright daylight there will be wolf howls. Either he gets in or your character helps him get in, and once they barricade the door the house will have his missing person's mposters plastered on the walls. Dream!Richie won't be able to explain anything fully, especially since the further into the house they go, the more and more clown memorabilia will show up until they're met with this clown room. Compelled to walk to the center, Richie will pull off the drape to reveal a small coffin, opening it only to have all of the clowns come to life and swarm him.

Trafalgar Law

Given that I've always figured him to be the type to have nightmares, especially coming so soon on the heels of everything Dressrosa, Fear is gonna have a field day with Law.

He'll be visiting all y'all mostly, I'll peruse the offerings after I get back to the computer but as far as his hosting, he'll do one night of Hope during round one and one night of Fear during round two.

Hope is going to be a wacky mishmash of things he'd never own up to feeling in real time - Corazon being alive again and able to see how he's grown, giant snuggly bear hugs from Bepo, and a whole hell of a lot of cameo appearances by Luffy whether he wants it or not. His dream is going to be a bit on the weird side, as things careen wildly from one to the next, so anyone who stops in can feel free to include surreal bits like idk wielding bananas as pistols and flying and stuffed animals talking to you.

Fear is the real doozy, and lolspoilers for One Piece. It's all Doflamingo. Doflamingo in the murdercave stalking people, Doflamingo on his ship, Doflamingo in Dressrosa like a memory, etc. Also a good deal about the Birdcage, trapping people in whatever place they're in. Probably a few cameos by Kaidou as a callback to the Bad End vision since he did frequently tell people he actually thinks about this bad end being a real possibility. It's a good time to learn why Law is so closed-off and grouchy and poke at the secrets he's never telling anyone.

So y'know just as a heads up if anyone's looking for opportunities to poke at his fresh wounds.

i definitely want her to pop up in a few dreams so i'm not throwing down a ton, but i do have some tentative ideas:

hope: pulling the sword from the stone! kind of a weird one, since she views it as a negative thing now, but at the time she was hopeful she could lead britain into prosperity (and did, for a while).

fear: and, by contrast, her death against her 'son' mordred on the hill at camlann--the end result of everything else. after days of fighting, the two finally confront each other; saber impales mordred and mordred cuts off half her face with clarent. then saber basically screams "hey this is some goddamn bullshit!!" and makes a contract with the world to fight for eternity to fix her mistakes. her own death she's fine with, but britain's destruction was/is her greatest fear.

still not 100% on these, but if anyone wants to find out she's king arthur, here u go.

I'm planning on having Hayden be a host for about half of the god prompts, and then a visitor for all the rest of the nights. All potential visitors are welcome, of course, and let me know if you're interested in having Hayden in any of yours! He'll probably make a huge mess of things since it's his special skill.

Here are the things I currently have in mind:

Sorrow:

There are letters and papers everywhere, strewn over the desolate earth beneath Hayden’s feet. They’re falling from him as he gets the beating of his life, bigger, stronger demons laughing and kicking him while he’s down, but no matter how hard they hit him he doesn’t try to stop it. He doesn’t even seem to notice them. He tries to pick up the papers again, because it’s all he has is this job. It seems hopeless, he looks defeated. More fall out of his reach whenever he manages to grab a handful. And the more it goes on, the more the papers are rising up like the sea around them all.

Hope:

Hayden stands before a large church. The stained glass windows seem to go up and up for miles. Nervous, he makes his way inside. Everyone in the pews stops and stares at him. They whisper, and Hayden can’t help but shy away, but a bright light at the front of the room beckons him forward. It’s a long walk, and Hayden nearly turns back around many times, but when you finally reach the source, you find that the light has taken the form of a gently smiling angel. “Let’s go home,” it offers.

Fear:

You find yourself with Hayden in a big, dark office. Something you’d find belonging to a big shot CEO. Satan, as it proclaims him by the plaque on his desk, looms behind his desk. Even though he’s sitting, his shadow curls around the atmosphere, making the whole place seem suffocating and punishing. “You’re fired,” he indicates, and the floor breaks away from under you, and Hayden’s falling, screaming, crying, until you finally find yourself in some deep dark reach of Hell, everything hot and full of misery.

At some point, you come across a black-gated Manor, and his sister Helen greets you with a stern expression. “I told you to never come back,” she says. “You know what’ll happen if they find me with someone so weak and pathetic.” And suddenly, in a blink, her body is being ripped apart by unseen forces. No matter what you do or say, Hayden ends up covered in her blood, and he seems inconsolable.

Confusion:

Hayden’s sister Helen stands with her back to Hayden. “I can’t be seen with you anymore,” she says. “Goodbye.” She doesn’t walk away, but a distance stretches farther and farther between them. Hayden tries to follow after her, but no matter how hard he runs, the distance only keeps growing, and she never turns back around. All the time he calls out to her, asking for her to stop and wait, asking why, because he doesn’t understand what he’s done to make her leave.

MICHAEL

Rage/Delight: (Heads up this dream is gonna be a lot of violence.) This will be a joint dream between Michael and the Visitor (not the dream-walking visitor, Michael's unwanted head-guest). In the first part of the dream (you're welcome to come in late), the Visitor will be hunting and attacking someone Michael knows, prime candidates being anyone who has admitted to murder in his presence, or anyone who has pissed him off. Feel free to have your character see themselves get eaten, so long as Michael has met them, but otherwise it'll probably be the last person the Visitor killed.

Second part of this dream will go one way on certain nights, and another way on others. Version 1 (Delight): you get to have fun experiencing the joy of murder, as the Visitor triumphantly devours its prey and Michael gets that long-awaited temporary silence after a kill. Version 2 (Rage): Michael attempts in vain to control the Visitor and stop it from attacking its target. They have a spat. Things get nasty. I mean, either way, things get nasty.

Tranquility: In this dream, Michael is at work, but, even though it makes no sense, he's working alone. Unfortunately(?) for everyone visiting, his job is working as an autopsy technician. Your character can find this interesting, creepy, or maybe they'll Get It. Either way, yeah this one'll also be gross. Sigh I can't have nice things apparently.

TUCKER

Fear: Time to give a demonstration of the difference between werewolves and shapeshifters in Tucker's canon! He'll be dreaming of a time when he was 12 or so, and he stumbled upon a transformed werewolf with a fresh human victim. The lycanthrope invited him to join in, mistaking him for one of its own kind, and things got Scary when he admitted to not being a werewolf after all. There will probably be a chase or a fight involved. Again, this one'll be a lil bit nasty.

Delight: Tucker will be in wolf form for this dream, roaming around in the woods, doing wolf things, being all free and nature-y and shit. I think it'd be fun to play around with characters experiencing the world with his animal senses, or even experiencing this dream as an animal themselves (if they can shapeshift too, or even if not).


Both of them will be visiting others' dreams as well, and I am open to additional ideas if you've got any!

I am SUPER DELIGHTED by this event, because it seems like a great introduction and CR-builder. :D So, some Evan options for you:

Sorrow: Mixed with Delight, in its way. Evan's old farm in Kansas ("Kansas"), except empty--no Ma, no Pa, no Uncle Cluster visiting. But all the sights and sounds and smells of home, including fresh-baked pie.

Hope: Superhero adventures, please and thank-you, with all the flying and defeating bad guys that you'd expect from somebody who basically wants to be Superman.

Fear: There's nothing Evan's more terrified of than growing up to be this guy. So how about a night of dodging Evan!Apocalypse? Completely out of control and bringing about the end of the world for all non-mutants (and any mutants who try standing against him, for that matter).

Tranquility: Time for a fuckin dance party.

cecily was here for the last go-round, but that doesn't mean she's off the hook!! the inquisitor will be suffering from dreams of confusion, tranquility, love, and fear. luckily for her, confusion, tranquility, and love will be kind... and, predictably, fear Will Not. she'll be having those first three in a row, which will weaken her mental guard, making the fear-inspired dream all the more... impactful. :')

dany is still fairly new and has lost her roommate, so things are already not going well. she'll be having dreams of rage, hope, delight, and sorrow. hope and delight will be pleasant, while the other two will deeply upset her.

i haven't gone into specifics because i'm still thinking through things, but just let me know if you want to see cecily or dany's happy or sad dreams, OR let me know if you want either of them to wander into your character's dreams!

Adam & Rhy

I'll be throwing both of my boys out there, hitting up plenty of other dreams, so I'm only planning to host a couple for each!

Adam will have a Rage dream, which lets me explore a part of him that doesn't often come up in game - his helpless anger at his own upbringing as compared to the privilege some people were born in. This will involve spending some time in the halls of a fancy private school, listening to the other students talk about their boatloads of money and easy lives & dealing with, well, the lack of all that. Also, rich boys being huge shits to you.

He'll also have a Tranquility dream, a very dreamlike dream of walking through a forest that changes around you, seeming to change with your thoughts and desires. It'll definitely be possible to run into him in either of these dreams. Also, I'm down for plotting anything else - he has a lot of material for Fear dreams in his abusive past, some good Delight or Love material with Ronan and his other friends, and Sorrow based on the death of his mentor. I'm happy to throw any of those in if someone wants, but will only for sure be doing the two above!

Rhy will also get two dreams. The first week will be a Delight dream, featuring a party - drinks, dancing, excellent food, all in the palace he grew up in. Of course, since it's a very happy dream, it'll also feature his parents and his brother, having a lovely time.

He'll then get some down time with a Fear dream, starring an unfortunately very familiar fear: being dead. Any visitors here will walk the halls of the same palace, only in mourning - and dying as well, beset by an enemy no one seems able to fight and abandoned by their prince. Awesome. If desired, I can also throw in a Hope dream involving - basically - the opposite of the Fear dream, or a Sorrow dream involving his greatest heartbreak and his brother leaving.

I'm also down for plotting ANYTHING ELSE and will be throwing these two all over the place.

I'm running on like. idk a 4-3 ratio of hosting vs walking? i'm playing a little fast and loose and just kinda seeing what happens with open posts/etc. i'm also tossing out a little mix of both general dreaming and straight-up more or less memories. COME SCOPE SOME OPTIONS YO

delight 1: join merle doing what delights him most! well i mean. he's a guy who delights in pretty much anything as a personal choice, but this is one of them: ADVENTURING, SONNN. and it's pretty straightforward! merle and his group of choice out traveling on the road, just a stone's throw away from a coastline. just. nice peaceful weather, changing scenery. people in this dream party will probably swap in and out as the dream goes on, nothing super consistent bc it's Merle. the most likely candidates showing up will be his two kids, mavis and mookie, who people can pseudo-meet in both this dream and the love dream below, and pretty much anyone from that ol' IPRE crew. who doesn't wanna hang with dream davenport??

delight 2: MEMORY TIME?? it's definitely in one of the most spoilery parts of canon, but it's a good'un. i guess the basic gist is merle's hangin with the avatar embodiment of a Big Evil Thing for the umpteenth time and he gets to give a very heartfelt good little speech about what brings him joy. it doesn't end like super great but he does get in a badass line that he's still proud of, so.

sorrow: get your ass down to Goldcliff's city center, we got a sendup to the end of the Petals to the Metal arc from merle's fresh and very guilty perspective on the entire affair. we got a big beautiful cherry blossom tree raining petals! we got genuine gotdang regret that... merle probably wont talk about tbh, but come hang with him anyway. ill provide a link to background music for a mood setter.

hope: its straight-up memory time dawg. in the adventure zone there's an arc called "the suffering game" and in that arc there's a scene titled "arms outstretched", which you can experience firsthand from the merle perspective! i'm gonna write it as emotionally as i can and i'm gonna provide a link to mood music for this one too. plus maybe a link to an animatic to give a full perspective? idk.

fear: man hey you know whats great to dream about? basically the bad ending that that one mirror showed you in that one event where the world where your kids live gets got and you're left truckin' like you never even lived there. Love That. merle could actually show some actual genuine bad emotions and be really not about this? sounds fake but ok

love: CHANCE 2 TO MEET MERLE'S KIDS IN DREAM FORM STEP RIGHT UP. because this dream is deadass just hanging out on the beach with people from his life that he loves and/or likes. a big long steady stream that basically adds up to a huge beach party that people are wandering in and out of! merle could in fact make some shitty beach jewelry to give away. mavis and mookie (his kids that he is a dad of) will probably be the most consistently present throughout the entire dream. the IPRE crew (which does include taako and lup and magnus, yes) will also probably feature a lot! as for the rest, It Is A Mystery. im still figuring it out. merle has a lot of love ok

confusion: once upon a time merle got like 100 years of memories wiped the heck out of existence, which included even vaguely recognizing the kickass found family he made over all those years. they all got flipped turned upside-down and forgot each other. which was like super awkward bc it happened while merle was hanging out with his good bud. this is gonna be a weird, hazy kind of dream shenaniganry. half-memory, half-static, half-merle not making any dang sense, all confusion, and also on a ship hundreds of feet in the air.

Angus is going to be visiting other people's dreams, and will be having two or three of his own:

Delight: Back home, Angus was a legit detective who solved murder mysteries and tracked down serial killers. There's nothing quite like the thrill you get from solving crimes and catching criminals, so this dream is gonna be an action packed rooftop chase! And since this is a dream, he isn't going to be Angus McDonald, Boy Detective, he's going to be Angus McDonald, Cool Teen Detective, who can reach things on high shelves, keep up with runaway thieves, never gets patronized or talked down to, and can also turn into a dragon because Angus is an 11 year old boy who thinks dragons are cool.

Fear is going to be a mishmash of Ango's many insecurities, and his life before joining the Bureau of Balance. We're getting into headcanon territory here, but Angus came from a very rich, unloving, and mostly absent family that... basically hasn't noticed he's been living on the moon for like a year at this point. He's gonna get the crap kicked out of him by some old schoolyard bullies first, and everyone he talks to in the dream (except the visiting guests) will be telling him to either grow up or go back home, because he's only going to get his co-workers killed with his incompetence. The McDonald family home will be looming in the background wherever he goes, radiating loneliness, and at some point, his surroundings will melt away and he'll just end up in the empty mansion.

Tranquility: This is just gonna be a chill memory of his time at the Camp Goodfriend company retreat, hanging out with his coworkers/de-facto family, getting piggyback rides from his one co-worker who's an awesome robot, making lanyards, probably getting pushed into the lake at some point... fun camp stuff!

Yay, I've been looking forward to this! Kain will likely have at least one dream from each god, but I'll also leave him open some nights to go hop into others' dreams as well. I'm finding that there's some overlap in places so I may not play them ALL out, but will assume dreams have happened for all gods! Some potential plans for him:

Delight: Flying on a dragon!!!, being under the open sky on a mountainside, being IN THE SKY, basically... he misses the sky ok. :( This one will be bittersweet for sure.

Rage: This will probably involve Kain fighting/killing Cecil, watching Rosa/Cecil kiss, other manifestations of his jealousy

Sorrow: Reliving his father's death, betraying everyone, Rosa/Cecil being a couple- ah, hell, that issue will come up a lot throughout this. Also, reliving his OWN death and being helpless to help his friends in Dissidia.

Hope: ROSA. He'll finally win her over. Probably something with winning his father's approval or defeating his darkness somehow could show up too.

Fear: MIND CONTROL, Golbez/Zemus taking him over, fear of Chaos taking him over, fear of being a traitor, fear of his inner darkness... This dream will involve imagery like Kain being a marionette pulled by strings showing his puppet-like nature. Enclosed spaces will also likely feature here, probably something creepy wherein he's buried/undead just because that level of confinement would play nicely into his fears... also it's October, time to be spooky!

Love: ROSA. Here we go again, ahaha!

Confusion: MIND CONTROL again, maybe. Also being trapped in the endless war of Chaos... and something really confusing and mind-warping that reflects his experiences with amnesia.

Tranquility: This would involve being at home in Baron, in some time period prior to all the mind control. Being with his friends, being with the dragoons, things like that. Maybe also hanging with his Dissidia friends and feeling like he belongs among them... perhaps they even appear in his home!
