Monthly Rundown: February Edition

Good morning and happy Sunday! We know that you're all curious to see what's going to happen now that the fires and the debris has cleared out a little. The good news: we're all (well, most of us are) still standing and super mad and ready to do something about it!

What, you're not? Well, get angry, because it's time to strike back!

Sort of.

FEBRUARY PART 1: I'M REVOKING YOUR MEDICAL LICENSE

As the month of February starts, certain things in Hadriel are slowly starting to come back online- so to speak. Revivals (not that many of you are dead, I hope) will resume their normal efficiency and stores are beginning to be stocked with non-food items again, so stock up on that toilet paper! Electricity is also beginning to come back to the city, albeit in small sections and it's not super consistent.

Well, we hope that you're all well rested from all that extra sleep you got, because starting on February 10th, we're in for a bunch of newbies! As the latest batch of newbies careen in through the door like newborn fauns, we'll also get to deal with nurses from the Silent Hill franchise!

Whether your nurses are hunchbacked and infested with parasites or weirdly sexy in a way that you're hoping won't awaken anything in you, these ladies are attracted to light and noise and carry melee weapons with them- knives, pipes, anything that will hurt you. It's possible to kill them, but engaging in hand to hand combat might not be wise, as they can take a bit of a beating. Luckily- or unluckily- after escaping from the arena, these nurses will flee off to our own Silent Hill zone, as if recognizing exactly where they belong. If you see a bloody nurse lady making her way downtown and walking fast, you should... well, probably just let her be on her way.

FEBRUARY PART 2: FIELD TRIP

It's no small surprise that the attacks have left the city weakened, but recovering. In the wake of Sorrow's death, Delight's imprisonment, Fear's power usage, and Hope's serious injuries, a few of the other gods have attempted to step up to the plate to help out: namely, Love, Tranquility, and Confusion! You've seen Confusions contributions last month with the age-down event, but now Love will be spearheading the attempt to help reboot Hope!

On February 16th, Love will make an announcement in an attempt to organize trips across the planet to various other former cities. These cities will be much like the one Hadriel currently inhabits- same sort of structures, same architecture, though some will be even more derelict and destroyed than what you're used to seeing. Hope was not able to restore these cities as he restored Hadriel, so people who go on these trips should anticipate seeing the full spectrum of what the Null have done.

What's the purpose of these trips? To go to the other Hope temples, of course! Hope will provide empty glass spheres, similar to what can be found on our blessings page. These spheres will be left on the altar of the Hope temples for a week; during that week, your characters are free to go to other cities with other Hope temples, or to camp out and wait. After a week's time, the spheres will begin to emit a soft purple glow, at which point they will be recollected and brought back to Hadriel to present to Hope.

This trip will take some time- Fear is generally the god capable of transporting other matter and he's not quite feeling up to it. Luckily, Tranquility has upgraded some of his mopeds to hooded motorcycles, which will allow you to grab a few friends and make a road trip of it!

There is no specific start-end date for this event, as characters are free to make trips whenever they like until Hope's needs are sated- characters can even leave in the middle of another event if they like, just to get away from it all. There will be monthly catch-all logs for the trips taken, each with different cities and prompts. The first catch-all log will be going up on February 17th.

FEBRUARY PART 3: KISS ME KILL ME

And while the cyclists are away, the gods will play... you didn't think that you'd be getting off easy by staying home, did you? Those who decide not to go on this trip (can't really blame you!) will be subject to Rage's fits of- well, rage.

You see, she doesn't take too kindly to you imprisoning her girlfriend, nor does she take kindly to betrayal and/or heartbreak. So while the others are gone, those affected by this event will feel a dark sense of rage blossoming where you once might have felt love. The love and affection will still be there, but will become tinged with an unhealthy obsession with this person you love- and nobody can make them suffer but you.

In anime, this trope is typically referred to as yandere, in which an obsessiveness with another character can lead to the character becoming sinister or violent. During the event, both platonic love and romantic love will be affected- your character will feel jealous and possessive over their close friends as well as any potential romantic partners. This obsessiveness has lead many to do truly dark things- beating your romantic rival senseless in a back alley? Sure. Locking your friend in their room so they can never leave the house? Alright. Straight up murdering someone so they can never look at anyone else but you? Well, that's a bit extreme, but still plausible.

Heyo! Are the phones/the network still usable for the characters who have gone out on the field trips, or is there any sort of limit on the range?

Sorry for the wait! As answered in the OOC post, they will work but their connection will be spottier the further from the city people go.
