Monthly Rundown: March Edition

We hope you're enjoying your adventure across the surface of the world! Still enjoying all that sun, sand, and... well, no surf? Yeah, we thought so. Keep it up until the end of the month, and you'll all get to reap the rewards of your efforts!

As always, if you ever have any suggestions or feedback you'd like to offer us mods, remember you can always drop us a line here! Also, please remember to hit up the Current AC post if you have AC for the month! Characters accepted in February do not require AC proofs, but we do require a check-in on the post!

MARCH PART 1: ADVENTURING 2.0
At the beginning of March, we'll put up a log for the Field Trip threads from that month. If your characters didn't go out exploring in February, March might be their month! There's still plenty of orbs to collect, and we will be RNGing March Field Trip events in the next couple days. If you're interested and haven't thrown your name in the hat yet, now's the time!

As usual, on March 10th, the Door will open and deposit our next crop of newbies. Along with them will arrive a bunch of Mimics from the video game Prey, suggested to us by Kai!

Mimics are small alien creatures which can disguise themselves as inanimate objects. All the better to then leap upon you, shove a tentacle down your throat, and devour your flesh. No one likes the bad kind of tentacles. Afterward, on March 12th, we will have our bimonthly CR meme.

MARCH PART 2: THAT'S MY RUBBER DUCKY
The Door doesn't always stick to its tight schedule. On March 14th, it'll act up again - but this time it won't bring in people or monsters. No, instead one item from each person in Hadriel will appear in the city, but unfortunately, the Door doesn't seem to care who ends up with what. No item appears in the home (or hands) of its rightful owner - so how are you supposed to find who that ugly sweater belongs to? Well, when you touch the item, for a few seconds it will give you a glimpse through the eyes of the person it's meant for. Even if you think it's cool and want to keep it, is it really worth suddenly seeing its real owner popping pimples in their mirror? Yeah, we didn't think so.

These items can be anything, so long as they are both portable and not powerful. That means the size can vary - it just needs to be small enough to pick up and carry, or push around at the very most. And while slightly magical or somewhat technologically advanced items are allowed, anything particularly strong or powerful is not. Also, if you want, rather than being something that belongs to your character it could be a possession that belongs to someone close to them. Their husband's wedding ring, maybe? Their best friend's favorite shirt? Or maybe just their very own teddy bear, finally reunited with them.

This event (or variations on it) was suggested by both Alexis and Nico. Thank you! There will not be a separate OOC post for it (though there will be a log), so if you have questions about the event or about whether an item would be allowed, please ask below.

Not long after this, on March 16th, there will be an NPC post.

MARCH PART 3: FLU SEASON
Hey, that was nice! A present from home! But this is Hadriel, and nothing can stay nice for that long. Remember after the Null attack, when Fear used all his power getting everyone out of danger? He still hasn't completely recovered from that, and if Hope's getting a power-up, it's only fair if he does too. So get ready - and let's hope you're all stocked up on Kleenex and orange juice.

Starting March 20th, something like a flu will start circulating through the city. It starts off like a normal sickness, with coughs and sneezing and sore throats, and escalates into something much more serious. Once the fever sets in, so does paranoia - terrifying, overwhelming, and unavoidable. You'll be sure that everyone is out to get you. Your neighbor? Probably spying on you. Your friend who brought you chicken soup? You're sure it's poisoned.

The flu-like symptoms fade as the paranoia sets in. Even that will be gone after a few days, and you'll just feel kind of (physically) shitty as you recover - well, as long as you didn't do anything awful under the effects of that paranoia. Best case scenario, you hid in your room with the door locked. Worst case? You decided to take down everyone plotting against you. Oh, and don't forget: this illness is extremely contagious. Any cough, sneeze, or shared fluids will pass it on, so if you're the caring sort who wants to look out for your friends, then it's only a matter of time before you get sick too.

This will end on March 30th, as the last of the symptoms fade.
