Event Post: Senses Fail

THE RUNDOWN

Sorrow already let you guys know that it's just about time to move the city again, so we're sure you also know what that means. Who moves the city? Fear. What does he need in order to get that done? Yep, you got it. Fear. So it's time for you to feel just a bit - or maybe a lot - terrified. And Fear doesn't do things by halves.

He's changing the game a little this time, and taking something from you. Rather than an object, this is a part of you: a sense, and ability, a limb. Something you use every day, something that seems vital to you, and now it's gone. Will it come back? Probably, but... well, you can't be sure, and even if it does, you've still got to figure out how to live without it for awhile. Or maybe forever.

Vulnerability can be the most terrifying thing of all.

THE DETAILS

What will your character lose? Well, that's pretty much up to you, as long as it falls under the general idea of a sense, power, or ability. They could lose a sense, or part of one - going half-blind, being unable to taste. They could lose a power - their magic, their ability to stay in human form. Or they could lose an entire limb - an arm or a leg, or maybe just a finger. They could even have more than one thing taken from them, if you really want to be mean. One eye gone at the beginning of the event, and just as you're getting used to it, the other disappears? Yikes.

Fear won't take anything that will cause them to die instantly, however. No vital organs, no ability to breathe. He also won't take physical objects or memories. He's interested in causing fear, and dead people can't feel fear. Though, of course, he won't much care if you happen to, say, stumble into the river and drown because you suddenly can't see. That's really your fault, after all.

All missing things will be restored at the end of the event, and please remember that this event is optional - your character doesn't have to be affected if you don't want them to be. Have fun!

OH BOY... man. i'd love to do something with the two of them but idt harlan would let law actually help him? the self harming happens on his thighs and he's super nah about people touching him there/seeing that, plus michael is gonna stitch him up a bit so... he's... fine... probably........

BUT, HM. if all else fails you could have law hit up harlan's open network post? that'll go up on like the 18th i'm thinking. alternatively harlan will be flitting around town periodically in an attempt to distract himself so they could run into each other at some point?

Curufin won't be losing anything, except on the night of the 15th, when he loses his ability to keep an intruder out of his dreams, and Caedra gets in. Because of that, he'll be in a horrible mood all week, but you might not even know that because he'll try to conceal it. But he'll be available for Guard duty regardless, and he'll be around to support people who are in bad shape.

Alas, your otherwise capable newbie Jon Snow currently has no knowledge of how to handle weapons other than his fists (and, like, the basic "hold a bladed weapon by the handle, not the blade"). He'll be useless to the Guard for the duration of the event, but will be back as soon as he knows what he's doing.

As for the other Tolkien Elves, I asked and the answer is as follows:

Maglor can't talk, but he can still fight. So he's available.

Celebrimbor can't hear, but he can still fight. So he's available.

Fingon is missing both hands, so not available. His player comments that he could probably hold a sword in his teeth, but that probably wouldn't end well. XD

Maedhros is blind, deaf, and having PTSD flashbacks, so he's not available either.

Drake will be showing up to duties and physically capable (though he's losing self control so fighting will be risky in other ways) until Lup is takes him out of play at the end of the event! We didn't decide on a date, let's say late on the 18th?

Kain will be really struggling but stubbornly trying to keep fulfilling his duties through the 17th (but he'll be on and off having a very hard time walking, so he'll be collapsing now and then, and probably ought to just give up... not that he will, that easily). From the 17th through the end of the event, he's totally out of commission as he's completely unable to walk by that point.
