Event Post: Senses Fail

THE RUNDOWN

Sorrow already let you guys know that it's just about time to move the city again, so we're sure you also know what that means. Who moves the city? Fear. What does he need in order to get that done? Yep, you got it. Fear. So it's time for you to feel just a bit - or maybe a lot - terrified. And Fear doesn't do things by halves.

He's changing the game a little this time, and taking something from you. Rather than an object, this is a part of you: a sense, and ability, a limb. Something you use every day, something that seems vital to you, and now it's gone. Will it come back? Probably, but... well, you can't be sure, and even if it does, you've still got to figure out how to live without it for awhile. Or maybe forever.

Vulnerability can be the most terrifying thing of all.

THE DETAILS

What will your character lose? Well, that's pretty much up to you, as long as it falls under the general idea of a sense, power, or ability. They could lose a sense, or part of one - going half-blind, being unable to taste. They could lose a power - their magic, their ability to stay in human form. Or they could lose an entire limb - an arm or a leg, or maybe just a finger. They could even have more than one thing taken from them, if you really want to be mean. One eye gone at the beginning of the event, and just as you're getting used to it, the other disappears? Yikes.

Fear won't take anything that will cause them to die instantly, however. No vital organs, no ability to breathe. He also won't take physical objects or memories. He's interested in causing fear, and dead people can't feel fear. Though, of course, he won't much care if you happen to, say, stumble into the river and drown because you suddenly can't see. That's really your fault, after all.

All missing things will be restored at the end of the event, and please remember that this event is optional - your character doesn't have to be affected if you don't want them to be. Have fun!

it's not really a sense, but charles here gets to lose whatever grip on reality/mental health required to not see people like this !! it's not something super new to him, but it's definitely weird.

Kylo will be losing his Force sensitivity over the course of the event.

This means he'll no longer be tuned into the energy of the Force and won't be able to use any of the abilities previously available to him. No more mind reading, telekinesis, and so on. It's pretty akin to losing a limb. Or several. This is a power that's largely defined his life and the loss of it will drive home the horror of this place quickly and effectively.

It's going to leave him vulnerable, physically as much as emotionally. He'll still be pretty down to fight but his chances of making it out without injury aren't good. So. Kick his ass. It also makes getting drunk easier. If that's relevant somehow?

Once the event starts, he is going to be driven to test and confirm its absence. Volunteers are welcome. Who wants to be ineffectively ordered around?

Kelson, Will Solace and Seel

Kelson's going to be losing his magic, and this will effectively turn him human.

He'll actually be stupidly taking a sip of the tainted wine the Door gave him in a previous event, as it only effects those with magic. With his magical genes turned off, it's a minor sedative. He will freak out.

While he's only been aware of his abilities for the past four years, they've become part of who he is, and in fact he needs them in order to keep his crown. He'll be terrified of the loss and what it means for his kingdom and his people. In addition, he actually uses his magic to augment his fighting abilities, like archery and fencing, so his aim is going to be a bit off.

He'll also be stupidly trying the tainted wine after the event is over when his powers come back, since it's the only test he has access too right now to ensure he's really fully functional again. So, he'll be looking for some good, trusted people to watch him while he's .....really completely out of it and drugged to all hell.

Will and Seel aren't going to lose anything but are there for plotting if anyone needs a helping hand!

hmmmmm Seel doesn't have any plans yet this month and they haven't talked in a while! How about him? I'm not entirely sure Kelson is ready for dead pharoh, but that could be fun too!

oh what a shame! Kelson would have finally see him as the Pharaoh and stuff, but it's good, surely there will be another chance.

Just imagine me hopping up and down in the background waving my hand all 'Pick me! Pick me!!!!!' haha. Nico's whole power set is based on him being a son of Hades so he dealt with dead people all the time back home but he hasn't been able to do much with that here because people get resurrected instead of staying dead dead lol. Nico would absolutely be able to talk and chat with Spirit Atem and even interact with him like a normal person. He's grabbed ghosts and physically dragged them away in canon before, hahaha.

And feel free to have Atem do ghosty things around Mokuba, he wouldn't be able to see him but I am all up for Mokuba getting freaked out a bit until he puts together what's going on haha.

Yusuke will be losing his sense of sight, which would be distressing for anyone, but is even moreso for an artist. He'll need people to help him out and encourage him..... since he'll basically jump to the conclusion that his life as an artist (and therefore his life in general, bc what is life without art) will be over unless he can get his sight back.

I don't have any specifics or threads planned out yet, though, so I am down for anything! If anyone wants to catch me for plotting, you can grab me at moonsilver.
