Event Post: Senses Fail

THE RUNDOWN

Sorrow already let you guys know that it's just about time to move the city again, so we're sure you also know what that means. Who moves the city? Fear. What does he need in order to get that done? Yep, you got it. Fear. So it's time for you to feel just a bit - or maybe a lot - terrified. And Fear doesn't do things by halves.

He's changing the game a little this time, and taking something from you. Rather than an object, this is a part of you: a sense, and ability, a limb. Something you use every day, something that seems vital to you, and now it's gone. Will it come back? Probably, but... well, you can't be sure, and even if it does, you've still got to figure out how to live without it for awhile. Or maybe forever.

Vulnerability can be the most terrifying thing of all.

THE DETAILS

What will your character lose? Well, that's pretty much up to you, as long as it falls under the general idea of a sense, power, or ability. They could lose a sense, or part of one - going half-blind, being unable to taste. They could lose a power - their magic, their ability to stay in human form. Or they could lose an entire limb - an arm or a leg, or maybe just a finger. They could even have more than one thing taken from them, if you really want to be mean. One eye gone at the beginning of the event, and just as you're getting used to it, the other disappears? Yikes.

Fear won't take anything that will cause them to die instantly, however. No vital organs, no ability to breathe. He also won't take physical objects or memories. He's interested in causing fear, and dead people can't feel fear. Though, of course, he won't much care if you happen to, say, stumble into the river and drown because you suddenly can't see. That's really your fault, after all.

All missing things will be restored at the end of the event, and please remember that this event is optional - your character doesn't have to be affected if you don't want them to be. Have fun!

I think what I'll do is keep an eye out for your toplevel (if you do one) or you can hit up mine, either way she won't do anything at first until she discovers he's been blinded.

After that, depending on how much time we have before I go on hiatus on the 18th either we can thread it out since she can alter the dream in response to however his dream-self reacts to things, or if it's looking like a bit of a crunch I'll write up a general summary for you with their previous conversation and that information you've just said there in mind, since that's the sort of thing she would absolutely take advantage of.

Kyna will be losing her sight, too! They should definitely talk about it!

Boss will be losing her voice. Anything else wouldn't be inconvenient enough, honestly. It's a bit of a callback to when she first joined the Saints and didn't say much of anything - So it's kind of one of those symbolic loss of progress and strength things.

Anyway, this isn't going to make her scared as much as it is pissed and rowdy. Without a more "civilized" way to discuss things (in person at least - but trust and believe she can't text worth anything; she absolutely texts like a mom) she's going to resort to shoves and punches and obscene gestures to get her points across. Sorry, y'all.

In order to continue the tradition of him having shitty birthdays in Hadriel, Henry will only be affected for the last day. He'll wake up with both arms missing, because being unable to fight is unthinkable to him, and he'll just hole up in his apartment and freak out, not showing up to guard duties and lacking the means of giving warning. For the rest of the event he'll be available to react to other people's losses!

Just a reminder: I'd appreciate it if guardsmen could note if & when they won't be doing their work. I'll look through and try to compile a list, but if you want follow-up from guardsmen who aren't struggling, let me know and I'll spread the word.

Finally, the evil spawn she wanted has come home to her! He'll be wary toward her at first but she's so bad that he'll turn around and probably follow her everywhere--at least during the event. Anticipate him getting uncomfortable real fast and ditching the second the effects wear off, but until then...please encourage him to be bad, he'll do all of your bidding Caedra.

AHH man okay if Caedra wasn't losing her witch sight this event... well, clearly she'll have to run into Atem another time to see him being all Pharaoh-y if that's his true form or your equivalent to it!

Also... holy shit it would be real funny and awkward if she ran into Atem while he was possessing Law, though.

Fingon will be losing his hands, which is probably predictable considering his own role in certain in-canon amputations.

Fear might not be getting a meal out of it, but I imagine Rage probably will. Pity there's no Guilt; that one would be full all the time

Ianchus will be losing his strength, endurance, and stamina. All of his life, even if he hasn't had the most prowess in something, he's been able to push his body through it through sheer willpower and whatever strength he has. And now he won't have that, at a point where people will need his help, in all likelihood. He'll be upset, terrified that he won't be able to help people and will be useless (which pushes into his fear of being unneeded and unable to help).

He's also not used to being unable to tolerate pain. Another problem. Without giving his body to others, who is he?

Maedhros will lose a few things! First of all, he'll lose his sight and his hearing.

In addition, he will forget being freed from Thangorodrim. So, his last memory will still be of hanging from a cliff, on a mountainside, by a wrist.

He will be very distrustful of everything, have fun with a confused and probably violent Elf!
