Hey Hadriel! This is Ana, player of Pell/Drake/Wash, bringing in someone new... someone with a very familiar face. Yes, DiMA here is Nick Valentine's twin brother, they were prototypes the Institute made to experiment with synth personalities. But unlike Nick, DiMA isn't a human imprint! He was allowed to develop his personality through experience and choice and it took him awhile to figure out who he was. He's now a peaceful, super patient and understanding guy, who highly values all forms of life and just wants to keep everyone safe. He is willing to take extreme measures to do so, though, which makes him pretty morally grey even if he struggles with the reality of the things he's done. He's ~complicated~ and I'm very excited to have him.

I'm linking a visual reference post because uh. He's quite a sight to behold and I expect characters to recoil at just how visibly mechanical he is, considering how much he's had to modify himself to keep running. DiMA is physically wrecked -- being so old and unwilling to harvest parts from other synths means he has a lot of mechanical issues, and his brain operates at nearly full capacity so he constantly has to choose which memories to offload so nothing is lost. Off the bat he's going to be reaching out to science-types for some help with all that! Also, someone get him real clothing because DiMA plz.

Oh man I'm so excited to see DiMA? I loved Far Harbor so much and DiMA was just great. I'm also just horribly obsessed with Fallout in general and I'm always happy to see a FO character around!

Haha according to Grimme (our Nick player, who is awesome and piqued my interest in Fallout) I am the first and only DiMA in dwrp. But yeah I was in love right away, and I hope I can do him justice!

I have some plans but I'm going to be playing it by ear to an extent, since there's no predicting who tags him and characters may turn out to be friendlier towards him than I expect... but with the Null and all, right now I'm guessing his appearance is going to freak people out and he'll have to spend awhile just being a gentle old robo.

Man Rey is gonna be... something. She is aware of DiMA's existence due to having dove into Nick's memories a couple of times (particularly their escape from the Institute), so she might be able to pin his voice once she gets over the fact that this guy's got the same face as her dadbot wtf.

Yeah, Nick's canon point means DiMA's existence is going to be a real stumbling block for everyone, we think. But I'm really excited to watch it play out in game!

At least Rey will immediately have a better idea on who and what DiMA is than... pretty much everyone. Albeit him looking much different from the version she saw in Nick's dream/memory. Who would've thunk we'd actually get to do something with it? Hehehe.

He's definitely a character that pings a lot of my interests, since Rey turned out being pretty close to the gen 3 synths of Fallout which was the basis for her CR with Nick. Fortunately for that Rey won't be inclined to whack DiMA in the face with a shovel when she first sees him like she almost did when she met Nick. That'd be awk.

That's good, because he's kind of a fragile old not!man and we don't have a Faraday to cobble him back together if he breaks a component. He will appreciate the lack of shovels!

YEAHHHHHH she's better off just. Not. I mean, she can help with Nick since she has some mechanic/engineer skills, but DiMA's got some augmentations that she would definitely ???? over.

And also breaking someone only to put them back together would just be weird. (Not that she hasn't done it before, but.)

It seems like Faraday just worked with what parts he had to keep his crush leader alive and he uh. He had next to nothing so. 8'D Maybe someone would be able to improve on the modifications eventually, that's a long-term goal.

Oh definitely. I know it's been brought up with Nick since Rey's figured out that he has that limited memory problem already, so DiMA might be in luck, there.

It's more or less canon, there are journal entries of several Acadians that are like "Faraday plz." This is just the first one that came up on a quick search.

I brought DiMA in with a single memory bank! So if Rey (and/or Alphys) wants to help the synths, they have existing tech to base that off of.

Man, I remember those. I know some could interpret that as "teasing" but then there are parts like when DiMA mentioned a "private moment" between them and other stuff so it's like HMMMM.

Oh cool, I'm sure Rey at least would definitely trust Alphys to figure it out.

There's also that potential conversation where Faraday straight up tells the SS there's no point to his life without DiMA. Smh this poor man.

Technically neither have I, friend, C (our Jill, who is wonderful!) played it for me and let me make all the decisions and dialogue choices. And then of course I watched every other possible conversation and outcome and flailed in circles.

DiMA is a very patient fellow, he'll answer any and all questions. You have to expand your definition of alive, little one.

(Though the concept of human cells being individually sentient is going to be quite a stretch for him, too.)
