Hello!! And congrats to everyone here on you folks being my first foray into DWRP! I'm an IJ convert so I'm still getting my wits about me here, but this seems like a great place to cut my teeth with a character that has trouble emoting (and that's an understatement), so here I be!

I'm Kait the struggling and starving grad student, bringing in Daryl Dixon from early on in his Walking Dead canon (just after Sophia has gone missing and he's fallen down a ravine trying to find her), and no I don't wanna talk about the recent seasons let's just pretend Negan doesn't exist, ok shall we?!? He's a bit of an angry, aggressive, impulsive wreck right now and he has a hellish past full of abuse that has stunted him emotionally, so feel free to let me know if writing with him will be at all triggering and I can either adjust my tags to omit as much of that as I can/avoid explicit references to it, or we can work something else out. No problem!

Daryl doesn't know where he fits right now, either in his world or this one, and is dealing with the loss of the first group of people he's ever grown even a little bit close to (besides his emotionally abusive older brother), so right now getting close to Daryl will be like trying to pet a mangy stray cat that's been in the rain too long but desperately wants your attention. However, he is also a deeply compassionate protector-type who's drawn to those he can look out for, so I'd love to get him involved with the security group in the future once he's levelled out and grown up a bit more, probably after a canon update or two.

And Daryl sees dead people too, so. :| They'll get along, especially because he can't help but look out for teenagers and kids.

Sal's dead people don't try to eat him but he did find out his school was serving bologna made of people?? Either way Sal is going to be aggressively friendly and likes to look out for people's emotional/mental well being so watch out Daryl.

I'm Ana, I was very excited to see Daryl, and I have this guy Drake here who is both excellent with the angry stray cat types and secretly a zombie, sooooo..... eehh? Good deal, right? Not going to end in tears for anyone? He also has a hand in training for the Guard so that could be a good in for down the line.

I just spotted you in Jake's intro and realized I did not mention that Drake is also... a cop.... oh dear.

He never opens with that, though, because people typically have Negative Reactions to law enforcement, especially in association with the Guard.

LOL well Daryl has a pretty good eye for cop-attitude, and even if he can't tell for sure that might still put him off, but the more I canon update him the more his brotherly relationship with Rick and his respect for him will mitigate this initial aversion to folks like Drake. Cops have always been people he's only understood as making his life more difficult rather than actually looking out for the weak and in need, so it'll be great to play that through and see his mind change.

It's highly unlikely Daryl would be able to tell on his own, honestly. Drake was deep undercover for years with Seattle's biggest crime boss and nobody had a clue. Not even his own girlfriend. He'd have to mention it.

But he is 10000000% just looking out for people, he actually is pretty generous with what he reports and is genuine friends with a lot of shady folks that he recognizes are just trying to get by and need guidance... as a cop, he's going after the Actually Bad People. That usually comes across quickly and might endear Daryl?

Welcome! I'm Kara, and while I havent watched the Walking Dead in years, I'm happy to see him! I play characters from books no one has ever heard of! I have Seel har Parasiel from the Wraeththu books, they're kind of magical hermaphrodites? And Kelson Haldane from the Deryni books, an 18 year old 12th century king from a world that's a little bit like GoT's. He could super use a protector/father figure type! Even if Daryl is a little.....different than what he's used too? LOL No 12th century knight this guy is.

Hello!! You are indeed right that I have not heard of them, but both sound very fun (and I'm a big GoT stan so I guess we're fan-neighbors in that way??). I would freakin' love to build that type of connection between them, especially if Kelson is more of a gentle soul? Daryl is like... what a modern knight would be if the knight was raised eating squirrels and fighting off his own dad but... still somehow didn't lose his sense of chivalry?? Whatever, I'm so down to see how Daryl's rough edges bounce off of him, so bring it onnn!

Yes! That sounds awesome. Kelson is much more of a gentle soul, although life has tried to beat it out of him. Being a medieval monarch doesn't exactly lend itself to kindness and rainbows, it's a bloody business. :( Some of the best relationships and scene's in Kelson's canon are his talks with his father figures/protectors. Kelson could use the guidance, even if he is 18 and vacillates between 'i'm invincible and know everything' and 'omg the world is over, i screwed up, kill me now'.

I'd love to see what happens with his relationship with Daryl! He's used to some rough edges, some of his scottish border lords aren't exactly polished smooth! I think he'd get along with him!

Kelson's mother's kind of a self hating religious racist, so they got a bit in common there too!

Oh goddd, Daryl is exactly like that as well, except the world came really close to succeeding, so they will have a surprising amount in common once Daryl gets to a point where he feels comfortable sharing. I'm looking forward to this!

It's pretty straight-forward and lowkey as far as zombie settings go! I thiiiink I might be leaning towards wiping their TDM interaction because I'm curious to see if Daryl can figure out more of the world's dynamics in an action-based way (since actions and real evidence are the only things he trusts), but they should run into each other again anyway!

I am Shade and I play Leo here from a kind of obscure YA series Monsters of Verity, who might look human, but is really a demonic-looking monster who subsists off the souls of sinners.....which come to think of it, I don't think Daryl qualifies at from the canonpoint you're mentioning. So he's friend potential, not food! Leo is also very bad at making friends but needs them too, so maybe they can be awkward together?

WELL, Daryl has only very, very recently turned over a new leaf, and mostly out of necessity because he lost his brother-in-crime and bad influence and is realizing he has different instincts without Merle hovering over his shoulder, so that could be something interesting to talk about!

Daryl tends to get along best with other outcasts, so that would be raddd.

Thanks! Oh that's exciting, and haha whooopppss Daryl is going to have to go through a lot of readjusting interacting with characters like Nick (or even, like, wrapping his brain around them). He's ready to believe and accept pretty much whatever he sees though, thanks walkers and chupacabra hallucinations, so I'm excited to write it out! Perhaps it can be a few interactions with Nick that eventually convinces him the Guard is where he'll (eventually) belong.
