let's talk fragments!

Can I just get a quick check on which boats / characters handed their fragments to the lab, Kate or Alphys after returning? And how many they obtained? ALTERNATIVELY, please feel free to chime in if your character kept their fragment, handed it over to Sorrow, etc.

( Also this is just general discussion for what is going on with the fragments because it feels like we're all a little lost regarding who has what and who is involved in holding onto them etc. )

Fragment #Current LocationObtained By

Law's ship brought back either one or two and delivered it/them to the lab. We had the retrieval of one threaded, and then received a mod prompt for September with another, but didn't want to hog two if someone else didn't have the opportunity to get one, so I think the plan was count that ship as one fragment unless not enough came back and then count them for a second.

As for general lab stuff, Caedra has been lurking around the lab a lot. Initially to meet the people involved so she knows who to hold responsible if any of the fragments go missing, knows who's intending to study them and what about, etc. Also, she and Nate spent some time trying to see if they could decipher any of the writing/patterns on the fragments' surfaces.

Lance was in a group with Nate, Taako, Lup, Barry, and Kravitz, and they turned over their shard to the Lab. Otherwise, Lance hasn't been involved with that stuff; he's probably been more focused on shuffling Name around since the Lab's been busy and such.

Connor didn't have anything because fuck that, HOWEVER he has definitely been lurking around the Lab to keep an eye on things, or more specifically to look out for Alphys. He doesn't think having a whole bunch of magical artifacts that people have been getting all mad at each other about in one place with no security is a good idea.

Yep Law's ship had one but the second one is ??? because of the way the prompt was worded. We didn't thread out anything besides that first one so there is an option for handwaving a second if and only if there is one fragment unaccounted for and no one else was planning to thread it. ICly Law would have made sure all of them were picked up but idk where other boats/parties are with that.

Curufin had one for sure as well, idk if Jill's prompt meant they also got a chance at a second or what.

Lab-wise Law isn't lurking any more than usual but he's being public about turning them over to the lab because he wants the entirety of the city to act as a fail-safe to guarantee that all fragments are accounted for and no one can hide anything. He's not pushing Kate and Alphys to do anything but he fully understands, after touching one, that they're probably going to have to go Sorrow's route and he's not going to complain. Anything to get a Door.

harlan wasn't involved with fragmentquest but he's asking for this info icly here!

newt is in the lab all the time, so he's at least aware of what's all been going down. he'd chip in to help if alphys or anyone ever asked him to though, and he's looking to get more involved after sorrow's post (if there's anything to get more involved with beyond the door studies in general).

both of mine are in favor of shipping the fragments off to sorrow, btw!

Jon and Daenerys would have turned over a fragment to whoever it was assumed they should turn them over to when they went out.

One caveat, though: we didn't get finding a fragment in our mod prompt, we got finding the island with the recent ruins, and because of the way the mod post was phrased and the way August kind of got away from both of us as players for personal reasons (rough times!), I don't think we realized/remembered that whether or not they found a fragment might have been dictated by prompts. I think, when we were trying to get back up to speed in September, we only went back and reread the parts of the initial post that discussed what equipment was available, and I think we had the impression that generally the gods' boats would have pretty good luck with finding the general area of the fragments, but the specific/precise locating on the ocean floor was up to the characters. Because the trip went on longer than we initially intended it to (also for personal reasons), I think we also kind of figured they had to have found a fragment to just not screw the game over on how long they were out with one of the boats. Potentially a big oops on our part!

We didn't thread that out, and have only mentioned it, so if there are more fragments than there should be, then they didn't find one after all and we can just retcon our assumption that they would have (sorry about all that diving, Jon). If, however, there aren't enough fragments and it's ok to assume they found one... go ahead and do that! And I'm sorry for the mistake if there was one -- yikes.

Curufin's boat collected one Door fragment. Jill Valentine and Curufin dived for it. Once they had returned, Curufin met up with Kate on West Island and they turned the fragment over to Alphys at the Lab.

Taako went out as Lance previously mentioned with that squad, though I have it on pretty good word from Barry's player that the shard was taken to the Lab.

Alphys has been doing her best oh god everyone thinks she knows what she's doing and she doesn't god help her she has no idea. I pinged the mods for if she's picking up anything else from getting to study the fragments, but I'd love to hear if people are studying them in the Lab, or wanting to come in, or anything! She has to have gotten some people to help her watch them, because she's not dumb enough to leave them out of someone's sight at all times. THAT SAID, please hit me up with this, I really want everyone to be able to get involved and she will be full ass panic if left on her own.

The Bluehaus contingent of the RvB cast + Kyna had a fragment Wash's expedition brought back, they held it while discussing if it was safe for PCs to poke at but ultimately decided that was a Decidedly Unsafe Endeavor and handed it over to Sorrow. Sorry, lab folks. Humans poking at alien tech sure is a thing for Halo canon but it always came with trouble. Add in magic and it's going to the gods.

Hey all!! So for those helping Alphys in the lab (I think this pertains mostly to Barry and Newt), but I got some info from the mods about what the fragments do and how they react to stimuli! Please note that unless you've been helping, this is OOC info, not IC stuff. That said:

Sonya and Floki found two of the fragments. It was never threaded due to time, but Sonya would've definitely handed them into the lab as best she could. Their box was only large enough to hold onto one of the fragments, so the smaller one she's tried to wrap in as much fabric as possible to dampen the effects.

She was able to get them to the lab when it was all said and done, that's the main thing.
