THE RUNDOWN

You know that embarrassing moment you can't seem to forget? Or maybe your saddest moment, or your most fond memory? The things you hold close, the things that keep you going or possibly just contribute to the kind of trauma you should be talking to a therapist about? Well, it's time to share them, whether you like it or not. Starting November 14th, even the most casual physical contact can transmit memories.

A handshake, a hug, a kiss on the cheek - even just an accidental brush past. When skin touches skin, you might get a glimpse at someone's most precious memory. Or they might see yours... and you might have no control over what they see. So start wearing gloves, or don't. Maybe it's a weight off your shoulders to share these things. Maybe this will finally let you understand your loved ones (and your enemies) better.

THE DETAILS

An accidental touch means any memory could be shared (including the most embarrassing ones) but if the character is thinking about something specific at the time, that will be what they're most likely to share. However, it's also possible to share memories deliberately, and in that case they'll get to choose what they share. All the character needs to do is focus on the memory they want to transmit and touch someone - easy!

If two characters brush against one another, then it's up to the players whose memory is transferred - or it could be that both characters get memories from one another. The effects of the memory sharing are instantaneous, with the character 'viewing' the memory experiencing it in its full duration in their mind throughout the course of several seconds in real life. They cannot affect the memory, only watch it play out, and whether it's from the perspective of the person whose memory it is or from the perspective of an outside observer is up to you.

Characters will only be able to deliberately transmit memories that they actually remember, but accidental transmission could unearth forgotten or even deliberately suppressed memories. Of course, the person who's memory it is won't remember - so enjoy that awkward moment where you try to convince them that really did happen to them!

Sharon da Silva

Much of Sharon's past is littered  with dark themes, not including childhood abuse, sexual abuse, disgusting beliefs, gore, body horror, and the like.  I'll warn which memories contain what so you can avoid it but I feel like a blanket warning is necessary given her canon.

Alessa Gillespie

Typical School Day | CW: child abuse
Abuse from both teachers and fellow students.  It will include religious references, being hit by authority figures, name calling, shoving, hair pulling, and just in general a young child being ostracized by a whole community for nothing she can understand.

Butterflies.
A moment during school where she finds a group of butterflies and, unconsciously, she causes them to move in dancing patterns in front of her.  It ends with a rock being thrown at her.

Ritual Burning | CW: child abuse, attempted child sacrifice, burning
The lead up to and the subsequent burning of Alessa by Christabella and the Order.  It will start with Alessa being dressed up by her mother, led in a quiet procession to a hotel, and then taken from her mother, tied down, and burned.  It will end with Alessa forcing the ritual to end early, snapping the chains that hold her above the fire pit, and setting the room on fire, causing the cloaked men and women to panic.

Dark Alessa

Birth of the Janitor | CW: burns, body horror, vague mentions of sexual abuse
Dark Alessa promises Alessa revenge and then sets to it.  This will be focused solely on the horrors Dark Alessa puts Colin through, torturing him, wrapping him in barbed wire before turning him into the real monster he is, never to be free from pain.

The Church Massacre | CW: everything, blood, gore, gross sexual violation
The focus in this one will be Alessa/Dark Alessa's revenge.  A little girl dances in the blood of a woman her other self has literally ripped apart from the middle with barbed wire.  A whole church of people get brutally murdered and it's just an all around horror show, save for Alessa protecting Sharon + Rose and not murdering Dahlia.

Sharon da Silva

Mom
A totally chill memory of Sharon resting at the base of a large tree with her mother, Rose.  They play games and Sharon babbles as she draws and eventually they fall asleep and it's cute and nice.  Nothing bad, all good sweet tranquil shit.

The Church | CW: ritualistic burning, child abuse, gore
Sharon's mom comes to her rescue after the Order has tied her up, prepared to burn her.  Rose gets stabbed, bleeds out, somehow survives, and things get bloody.  Unlike the Massacre from Dark Alessa/Alessa's PoV, Sharon closes her eyes and only witnesses a handful of the murders.

First Day
Sharon's first day at All Hallow's High, including her being sassy af, Vincent Cooper, and a hallucination.  It's just your typical day for Sharon.  Er.  Heather.  Heather Mason.

The Mall | CW: body horror
Sharon is waiting for her dad when her stalker finds her.  The world gets weird, people turn into monsters, someone gets murdered, and Sharon has a panic attack.  It's a fun ride, especially for any CR that only gets her Imma badass facade.

And there are other memories that are smaller bits like moments where she can see the other reality but believes it's just a hallucination, her father murdering someone in front of her, waking up home as a child after Silent Hill with no memory, Dahlia's apartment before she's kidnapped, the Red Nurse (Lisa), or just a typical cult school day! If you want something specific, feel free to ask. Note: A few of these I can give video reference for because Sharon comes from a movie!

Both would be great ways to move their CR and give Jo an inside perspective on Sharon. I guess it depends if you want Jo to deal with more horror and fear or just general high school anxiety and only a pinch of horror (what are we joking high school is horror)? And would we like to do this like an exchange or memories? I know we talked about Sharon seeing a memory of heaven from Jo?

Yes! I can put up a closed starter for Sharon. Heaven is going to feel pretty perfect, other than being alone and feeling too perfect. Sharon can ask about it, ha.

i'd also want something that makes Atem remember the conversation they had tbh! Not the conversation itself but something that triggers it? maybe something that shows her being these three people?? aaah

I like the idea of triggering the memory for him. The only real memory Sharon has of them all together is the church scenes which are all pretty brutal and seeing it from all three perspectives would give him emotional whiplash, if you're into that. I could give him the memory of Alessa creating Sharon and Dark Alessa dropping the child off at an orphanage? I could also write up one of Sharon's childhood nightmares where she sees the other two and they clearly see her as that happened pretty regularly before she went to Silent Hill.

I can give you the memory of Rose in addition to one of those memories, I'm totally down for that, and I know I definitely want to Sharon to see something from Atem's life. I tend to lean towards awful because Sharon can relate to suffering but an exchange of cute memories could be cute af too.

Don't worry about the brutality or the CW of the memories, Atem is a tough cookie and has seen some shit, I think it'd help understand her a lot more and be more protective and careful around her. I also like my fair share of gore and other stuff no worries, just yeah, not all the time lmao! I think the balance between those two memories could work wonders, all I can offer is headcanons of his childhood, unfortunately, but she might be able to see that he and his dad were really close, with no mom figure around if that's a thing to be noticed. Awful memories go from finding out his uncle lied to everyone when he created the Millennium Items—wiping an entire town to do so— to him fighting Zorc, see all his loved ones die while protecting him and maybe eventually giving his life to save his people, compared to Sharon's memories they are not as graphic I must admit. There is also the millennia he spent inside one of those Items, wandering alone without knowing what was happening and eventually forgetting himself.

Now that I think about it, I've been avoiding tho get too detailed about the whole "sharing a space with a demon for millennia" thing, it's all headcanon and not the good kind but maybe we can poke that too.

And of course there are card games, so many card games... "if you lose the duel your lose your soul" kind of card games!

oh hey i just remembered, he did not forget absolutely everything from Hadriel. the worse thing he's gone through was Yukari nearly killing him, it'd probably lead to Sharon judging him really badly if she found out he's living now with the guy lmao, too trusty this one... but yeah those are my options! i might try to think of more! sorry!
