ENDGAME ANNOUNCEMENT
PLOT
Good morning, Hadriel! As March comes to an end, we want to inform all of you that the plot of Hadriel is beginning its endgame stages. We know that there will undoubtedly be a lot of questions and concerns as a result of this, but we will do our best to address everything in this post- if there's something you're still confused about, please let us know in the comments and we will be more than happy to answer.
Our game has always had three plot arcs planned out: the Revival, the Conflict, and the Resolution. While things may have gotten bumpy and been rewritten at times along the way, we have always adhered to this three arc setup and in turn, always had intended on closing our game in 2019. As it is now, the game is set to close at the end of June, with what we hope is a satisfying resolution of the game's plot. This gives everyone three months from the time of this post to hopefully get some closure to meaningful CR and character development.
What does this mean in the immediate future? For one thing, our April app round is the last app round we will accept new characters, as we do not want players to feel as if their new characters will not get enough development or CR before endgame. Our April Test Drive Meme will be the final one. We will have an app round in May, for reapped or returning characters only, in case anyone decides that they want to bring their previous characters in to see how the game ends. Additionally, April will have the last Activity Check for the game.
As far as a post-endgame is concerned, we will not be managing one. While it depends a little on how Hadriel ends, there is likely to be open-ended content and you're welcome to continue playing within the Hadriel setting, either in Hadriel itself, or with the assumption that the Door will transport your characters back home or to one another's worlds. We will not continue playing NPCs however, and there will be no further planned plot for the game to follow.
PLOT
While we've been setting it up for awhile now, April is the month that we begin our endgame plot in earnest. How will the characters and gods handle the ever-present threat of the Null? Will they simply try to leave the galaxy and start anew? Will they try to change something vital about the Null to allow them to coexist? Will they attempt an assault on the Null hivemind to destroy as much as they can?
These (and more) are all possible scenarios that your characters can pursue, and we have potential plot threads to offer volunteers with interest in ending this conflict. It cannot be said enough- please reach out to us if you want to help, as we want this to be as character-driven, with as many character ideas as possible. We encourage multiple paths to be taken in our road to endgame and we hope that you continue to enjoy the game as it winds to a close. If not enough characters volunteer their ideas, then we will simply have the gods come up with their own ideas on how to resolve this conflict and seek out volunteers to go on missions in order to bring about this endgame. We've got contingency plans, so no worries either way.
As the characters begin to put the various plans into action, the Null will attack again at the end of May, this time for a full-scale war. We were lucky and were able to pick our planet based on the expeditions which revealed maps of the galaxy- now we have to stand our ground.
The Null slaughter is unprecedented and there's nowhere to go to hide from them- it's now, more than ever, that we need those plans to come through. If enough ideas and plots are successful, then June will be spent fighting and then in recovery, rebuilding and bringing about closure... if not, then June will be spent in hiding again, running and sustaining heavy losses before Sorrow decides to send everyone home through the Door and face oblivion.
More detailed rundowns will of course happen on a month-to-month basis. We hope that you continue to enjoy this game, and we're excited to see how it all ends!
Thank you again- we've had so much fun over the past three and a half years and it wouldn't be possible without any of you. We appreciate everything that you guys have done for us, and the dedication that you've shown to playing in our game. With that being said, let's open up the final chapter in Hadriel!
potential plotting ideas!
Steak is interested in making aggressive strikes on the Null and being proactive. He was a voter for the Null planet in the last poll and would definitely want to investigate the possibility of what they could do by entering that planet and being close to the Null base. So if anyone's interested in trying to get to kick some Null ass before the full-scale attack, that is an option!
Kate, along with Alphys, is going to be interested in The Door and how they could use that to defend the city against the Null. We have a couple of vague ideas for how they could do that, but we'd love to get other characters involved! If you were involved in any of the shard/fragment/Door research last year, I'd be especially interested in hearing your ideas and input before we forward a plan to the mods!

more ideas
I would first need to touch base with the mods to catch up on what Law would know and be able to do by now, but he's also been forbidden up until this point to share his research. He'd have to ask Sorrow for permission to work with other science-types to work on literally any of these solutions. So I'm putting it out there to see what other science folks (medical, technological, or otherwise) would want to get in on that and try to find a way to either gutpunch the Null or end the conflict so that neither the gods nor the Null would have to fight each other anymore.
additional plotting fodder!!
the basic summary is:
- found one or two particularly weak points in null robits (the core as an obvious one, and the hinges that connect any freshly-attached extra machinery bits) for erryone picking fight over flight on that front.
- found what appears to be a COMMUNICATIONS HUB command center! characters are able to fiddle with the consoles enough to view charted maps of 3 galaxies (including the one everyone is in) and real-time null activity tracking?? (in, of course, an alien language with menus that are difficult to navigate).
- stumbled onto what seems to be a way to upload information directly to the null hivemind (which they didn't/would not try to test out because no one wants to be That Person who inadvertently led the massive galaxy-swarming army directly to the doorstep on this special occasion).
they would have gotten back... somewhere in the first week of this month ish? the 8th at the latest. kind of in that "too late to comfortably backdate an ic info-drop post" zone. so if you wanna assume it's been filtering around through word of mouth, or that there's been like a basic report sent out after PvP event recovery started to kick in and things settled down a bit, or literally anything that works, i would say go for it for sure.
we wanted to make sure and get it put out here because it's good interesting info that should be open season heading into endgame!! and i am super sorry that it's on the later side doing this!

So Alphys is really, really determined to not kill all the Null, and as much as she worries about modifying them in any way, she's decided it's better than uhhh all-out murder. That said, a few others (like Law) have put the idea out there to see if she can modifying their code, and after talking to [Name], they've offered to help in creating this! We're still threading but I pulled the mods aside to get some clarification on how that would go down:
- [Name] is in a lot of the same place as Alphys, where they don't WANT to modify anything but it's probably better than them all getting wiped out
- [Name] can modify and upload a code
- BUT... if they do this, they'll be killed.
Alphys DOESN'T know the last part there, but she's worried about it, but this seems to be her game plan right now as much of what she can do. Which is likely going to lead to Alphys telling Hope about [Name] before the Null attack. She's also spoken to Cecily, Kate, Ignis, Jo, and Lucretia about different efforts, namely them looking into using the Door to maybe drive the Null nuts when they invade OR send them somewhere else entirely, along with other ways to fight. I wanted to make sure all this info was out there because PLS COME GET INVOLVED, I don't want to rely on my tagging speed to get this all out there so IF YOU WANNA BE INVOLVED pls hit me up and we'll find a space where we can get everyone in there!!!!
YEAH COME AT ME YEAH!!!

Mettaton will support whatever Alphys wants to do but??? I feel like if they talk about it he'll probably be like UMMM IS. THIS REALLY A GOOD IDEA HONEYBUNNY?!
So I would adore to play a little of that out. |D

Nate is trying to weaponize the environment as quickly as possible in preparation for the onslaught. He's basically doing a headcount of people who are combat trained and work well in brutal environments, and intending to arrange areas to manage any assault based on the topography of the landscape around the city.
This is going to be extremely rough guerilla warfare-style fight-and-flight, makeshift defenses, traps, that kind of thing.
I'm posting about it here so people can see and respond, but also, I'd like to get some feedback from the mods about the topography in question. I intend to throw together a map for people to reference asap. I'll pp the mod account for more details.
Thanks!!
