what's up hadriel, it's mel and this time i'm bringing in thom creed from perry moore's novel hero and clifford norman from the webcomic wilde life

.

thom is a probationary super hero who spends a whole lot of time in his head and as a result doesn't have all that great of a grasp on reality. basically he's a kid who tries hard to do the right thing, but manages to fall short all too often and is singularly talented at sticking his foot in his mouth and making an awkward situation even worse.

on the other hand he's got the ability to heal people with a touch, so that will probably come in handy, right?

cliff isn't actually technically a werewolf, but even he doesn't actually know what he is yet, so that's what we'll go with for now. he's also a completely shitty individual that smokes, drinks, steals, and really really doesn't like being touched.

he enjoys bbq, stealing people's hoodies, playing go fish with ghosts, and long runs in the woods as a giant fucking wolf.

no worries, late applicants to the werewolf club are always welcome and i mean, cliff isn't even actually a werewolf it clearly isn't a terribly selective club if they're letting his likes in.

thom is literally the first time i've brought anyone with any sort of healing expertise or capability to a game so i'm kind of pumped tbh. the fact that he's a socially awkward idiot only makes it better, obviously. i only bring hadriel high quality, you're welcome.

it's great to see that i'm not the only one who remembers this book! hero was like a gift to me in 2007 because before then it was basically impossible to find a good gay ya book where the plot wasn't all about the character being gay.

that fact that thom is a magnificent little failboat of a human being only makes things better, of course.

Hehe. I think Thom was the first queer superhero I encountered, which blew my mind at the time. I got into comics pretty late, you see. I bet Thom's a fun character to write, too.

I have a feeling Maketh will be charmed by him, though probably show it in awkward ways if at all. She likes young people. Somewhat.

HI AGAIN so I see you playing a werewolf boy.

I'm Suz, and I play Amos, an OC! Amos comes from a world where every flavor of mythology is true and runs amok in the flesh in his world. People also can have unique innate talent. Amos's is that he can talk with animals, telepathically. In-depth info here.

How this concerns Cliff, here, is that since he's not fully animal, Amos won't be able to read him, and will recognize his wolf-form as Not Actual Wolf. But a question! Amos could possibly get a sense of more "animalistic" thoughts, if you'd be okay with that? If you aren't, that's fine too. :3 Thanks!

to be honest, cliff can actually talk just fine in his wolf form too, so getting a feel for his thoughts isn't even necessary.

and ACTUALLY, okay so here's the real deal with cliff and his wolf self. he's not actually a werewolf, he's an "animal person" from native american mythology. what this means is that he's not affected by silver, not affected by the full moon, and can honestly change into his wolf form whenever he wants.

if he does choose to change, the change is instantaneous, because he's not actually changing shape he's just temporarily inhabiting his wolf body instead. both bodies exist at any given time, whether he's "wearing" the body or not and, honestly, between himself and a werewolf he's probably far more genuine wolf despite the fact that his consciousness never shifts.

so while cliff wouldn't actually possess "animalistic" thoughts for amos to get a read on, the wolf exists in/on/through/etc him at any given time and amos is more than free to read that on him, however his powers would apply to do so.
