Event Post: Hopeful Future

THE RUNDOWN
The poll is over, the results are in, and it's a tie! Love and Delight tied for first place, because apparently everyone in Hadriel is already plenty confused on their own. In the event of a tie, Hope casts the deciding vote. Naturally, he chooses the one more likely to help him out: Delight. That means it's time for him to prepare for another god resurrection. The last one - Rage - wiped him out pretty well for a month or so, and he'd like to avoid that this time. What better way than to inspire a burst of hope from the inhabitants of Hadriel?

On the morning of March 14th, a small hand mirror will appear next to each resident of Hadriel. Upon looking in the mirror, they'll see a vision of their most hopeful future, the best outcome they could hope for for themselves and the ones they love. What a nice thing to do for everybody, right? Hope doesn't want his gifts to go unused, so they also carry a mild compulsion - for the duration of the event, anyone who sees a mirror (whether it's their own or someone else's) will want to look in it. This compulsion can be resisted, but don't you want to see a few happy scenes? Who cares if you're violating someone's privacy?

On March 18th, the compulsion ends, but the mirrors remain. You can still see that vision of your possible future in them, if you care to look. Do what you like with them - treasure it and look in it every day, hide it under your bed and only take a peek in your weaker moments, smash it to bits. They're all yours.

THE DETAILS

The only stipulation on what you see in the mirror is that it must be possible and it must be hopeful. No one living that the viewer knows for sure is dead, no suddenly growing wings in a world where that never happens, no seeing their family lying dead around them or seeing themselves fail miserably, etc. However, the one viewing it doesn't have to believe it's possible themselves - maybe they never thought their true love would look at them twice, maybe they never believed they'd get their dream job. Maybe they finally caught all 721 Pokemon. Nice!

If the viewer is dead in their world, they can still see a hopeful future, if a slightly different kind. They can see their ideal afterlife, if they're inclined that way - or they can see the ones they love and left behind having a perfect, if bittersweet, future. They can even see a version of a happy future in Hadriel, perhaps - but they'll see something.

The mirrors are no sturdier than normal ones, and can be smashed with no ill effects - except that Hope won't fix it if you break it. That was a gift. How rude.

THE OVERVIEW

► March 14th: A mirror appears next to everyone in the city, with a compulsion to look in them
► March 18th: The compulsion ends, the mirrors remain
