Event Post: Silent Hill

THE RUNDOWN

Delight's poll has closed, and Sorrow is the winner, a decision that we're sure no one will regret! But before the gods quite have a chance to get anything rolling this month - resurrection or a run-of-the-mill event - they have it taken out of their hands.

Sharon Da Silva (unitas) has had her fill of god nonsense, and on June 15th she will be handling her anger and fear in a healthy and constructive way. Yes, bits and pieces of Silent Hill will be affecting the city of Hadriel, summoned via her connection and powers. The gods, not expecting this at all, are going to need a bit of time before they can figure out how to fix it, so until then, well - we hope you like fog.

The city will be shrouded in it most of the time, the light above dim and somber. There may be one or two monsters in the fog, but generally it's pretty safe. Just creepy and kind of depressing, that's all! But stay alert. Intermittently, you'll hear the sound of an air raid siren - and that's when you want to maybe think about running. The city will temporarily change to a darker version of itself, staying that way for anything from a few minutes to a few hours before changing back again. You might see sigils on the walls of buildings, blood and bodies, rust and scorch marks, a twisted reflection of the usual Hadriel. And, of course, monsters.

THE DETAILS

When Hadriel changes, the barriers Hope uses to keep the monsters in the caves simply stop working. Anything from the bestiary can be found roaming the city, free to cause damage and stalk their prey and make life worse. As if that and the new Satanic aesthetic weren't enough, there's also the chance that you could have your own personal monster stalking the streets looking for you. These creature will be disturbing reflections of your subconscious - fears, regrets, and desires given twisted, uncomfortable form. This part of the event is opt-in, you don't have to have your own special monster if you don't want to!

When the sirens go off and the city changes, the only safe places in Hadriel are the god temples. No monsters can pass through the doors, although that does mean you'll be affected by the emotion of whichever temple you might choose to hide in. Still, you'll be safe. Unfortunately, there's no way to predict when the sirens will go off, and the temples have no food or other conveniences inside them. If you want to camp out there for the whole event, you can, but it's not gonna be easy, and hopefully you'll have some braver friends willing to go out and get you food, you weenie.

If you would like to try to talk Sharon down or stop the Silent Hillification of Hadriel some other way, feel free to plot with Lunare! But if no one else manages, the gods will finally figure out how to shut that shit down on June 20th. The fog will lift, the monsters will be safely locked away again, and the gods will be left with one hell of a headache.

THE OVERVIEW

► June 15th: The city gets foggy and weird. What is weather?
► June 15th-20th: Fog, intermittent cave monsters, freaky too-personal monsters, good times for all!
► June 20th: Everything goes back to normal and you can all leave those shitty temples

Muscovy's monster will try to freeze to death anyone whom he is friends with, talks to or even just stalks for long enough. Which opens the playing field to everyone, if you want to plot.

Outside of that, it isn't aggressive. It doesn't even look particularly monstrous, lack of clearly defined legslegs and general ghostliness aside, unless it does it's thing - you know those figures where you press a button and the face spins into a different expression? This monster's face does that, and there seem to be a lot of different faces, though it mostly ends up on four: A Mongolian looking man, two Nordic looking male teenagers, and his own.

Since Muscovy's first instinct will be to try and run from it, he'll be all over town until someone tells him of the temples being safe, though he'll still come out after to find food.

As far as the event goes, first order for Henry will probably be a network post to get the guard to check in and organise their efforts, provide somewhere for those in need of the guard's help to post and for any guard member who wants to help to respond. Maybe in conjunction with Maketh, Fade? Obviously the guard's priorities, as Henry sees them, will be rescuing/escorting people to the temples, aiding supply runs and monster hunting. Let me know if anyone wants to thread any of them!

He'll also have a monster. No image yet, but one will be forthcoming. Henry's canon character arc is all about how a blade needs a sheath (him metaphorically being a bared blade) and he's been repressing issues related to the death of a loved one for 6 months now because he knows he has a volatile temper. So, naturally, his monster will be a manifestation of a violent loss of control -- a bestial knight. It will be humanoid, roughly his own height/build, broken portions of rended plate armour melded into warped flesh, and instead of a face, a metal plate that takes the form of a heraldic lion's head. Likewise, its weapons will be melded into its flesh. While the way it fights is rooted in the same knightly arts Henry himself is trained in, but it fights purely with violent impulse and instinct, relentless and wild, without any measure of control or strategy. It is a rabid beast with no trace of humanity left. It will attack anyone and anything it comes upon.

Soooo....Maketh may or may not have been making some bombs that she failed to tell Henry about. Which could come in handy with Henry's monster, plus give them something to talk about concerning Maketh's track record of bad decision making.

yo, hello. alayne's monster will look something like this, imagine an awful creature with a crown, it will shift between looking like a boy and a female but it is generally awful.

she will be petrified, of course and will try to escape the thing so if anyone wants to save a medieval princess, here is your chance!

Dundundun, late as ever but, let's see, I'm opting out Shadow for this particular event because it'd end in so many tears (from me), but of course he will be helping anyone who needs it, because hmph you humans are useless.

He will be horribly protective of those he already likes, so expect the hedgehog fight for them already, or simply take them (AT SOUND SPEED) away form danger.

Hopefully no one he cares about will die on him........ /winkwinknudgenudge

Sharon da Silva | Ashley

SHARON DA SILVA will have Pyramid Head as her personal monster/guardian. He will, obviously, be the film incarnation of him. He will never be found too far from Sharon, ready to answer her call for violence or protection.

HE IS AVAILABLE FOR OTHER CHARACTERS TO COME ACROSS, FIGHT, OR BE ATTACKED BY, without needing any input on my end (good (cw: gorey af) references). He will be especially aggressive towards those who have been in, and out of the Temples, focusing on them when there are multiple characters. He is both vicious, and unkillable; should he be critically injured, he will retreat, and shrug off any further attempt of attack.

Sharon will be making a post some time after Hope has informed characters of the safety of the temples. It will likely be a short, to the point post telling people to avoid the temples, and, instead, seek safety in the buildings when the darkness comes. She will assure people that this is for the best. She will also be available to come across in most game locations in the log, as well.

If you'd like to have your character try to talk Sharon out of things, kill her, bitch, what the hell ever, give me a shout. I'm open to any plotting ideas you have in mind!

ASHLEY's monster is based upon this concept by Michael Dickerson. She works similar to that of a witch from the series Left 4 Dead in that she sobs as she moves, but any curious individual will be immediately attacked. If she catches you, she pulls you into an embrace with all of her hands, and chews her way to the heart, devouring it.

The best way to kill her is to sever all her arms, essentially killing the parasitic red blob nestled in her throat, head, and chest.

For most of the event, Ashley will likely reside in Delight's temple with her housemates, pretty much refusing to go outside after the first siren sounds and changes the environment.

Since no one else has offered here yet, IIIII would love to have Glacius attempt to talk Sharon out of it. I haven't seen Revelation so I'm a little bit spotty about her backstory, but he's a creature that has been through a lot of pain, anguish, and judgment on behalf of humans, so he would be able to empathize with her if that is part of the reason why she's doing all of this and try to at least start steering her towards a different path. If you think that would work, or if there's a different path you think would work better (that's still IC for him of course), great! If not they can in the very least have a clash of ideals.

OH BOY SILENT HILL everyone loves that place, right

Cecily's monster looks sort of like a Grand Cleric (second from the left), except... messed up. "She" will have blinding green light leaking, almost oozing from her eyes. Her left side will be in varying states of decay while the right will be well-dressed and in one piece. The left side will vary from simply having a hand consumed with that same, green light to having the entire left side of her body decomposing and burning beneath unending green fire. She's called "The Fanatic" and will also hum/sing/garble bits of the Chant of Light.

She isn't purposefully hostile toward people, but she seems very intent on "blessing" them, which means putting her ruined and dangerous hand/arm on nearby folks. This will result in anything from a small electric shock to... being touched by an on-fire person, depending on what state she's in. There is also the chance, however harmless, that anyone who hears her verses will find them stuck in his or her head throughout the rest of that day, but it won't do any other damage and will fade after about a day, depending on how long they spent in the Fanatic's presence.

Cecily will be avoiding her monster for sure, but she'll also be helping others to fight theirs, particular Sharon, who is her close friend. I'm open for any plotting and injury, either by Cecily's monster or to Cecily herself, but she isn't going to die this event.

Maketh and Miriam

OMG YES.

Okay, Maketh will be busy rounding people and supplies up, as well as maintaining a defensive perimeter around Hope's temple. She's going to suggest that they camp out there for a while and will be going after stragglers/people in trouble as needed. Her monster will be a Force ghost that looks a hell of a lot like the Inquisitor. It won't be particularly violent or even dangerous unless you make eye contact, but try not to listen to anything it says. It might just hypnotize you into revealing your deepest secrets. Or get you to walk off a cliff. Fun things like that.

The important thing? Try not to stare.

Miriam will be sticking very close to the temple and her friends. If at all possible she won't leave the temple. Willingly, anyway. Her monster will look like a cloud of black dust just kinda floating around and chilling. Harmless, right?

Well, let's just say you better not inhale it.

Buuut if you do, you'd be introduced to the weapon that the Sons of Plunder used to seize power. It's called the Black Sun and it resulted out of a truly horrible idea someone had to stick an eldritch abomination in a gas canister, weaponize it, and then unleash the result through the air vents on a ship with 10,000+ sailors on board. If you're unfortunate enough to inhale it, the Black Sun will gather in your lungs, then the particles with solidify and puncture whatever happens to get in their way. The host generally dies within three hours of exposure. After death, the Black Sun virus takes over, and essentially raises the corpses as a zombie hive mind. Have fun with that.

Given Johanna's bs scary story time over in Delight's temple, I have actually considered that Emily might end up moving over to Hope's temple. Maybe after a day or two. Maaayyyybe. Depends on how many threads I have going.

Yikes, so Inquisitor + Darth Vader's bastard son and #1 fanboy. I do enjoy the idea of the Inquisitor getting Hux to reveal some of those secrets he's been holding back from Maketh and or leading him to a nasty end.

And of course, Hux's lovely little ghost is going to be Kylo Ren which could present some interesting trauma for Maketh to have to deal with.

dean's monster is going to be a fully fledged demon who looks a little something like this. Or this!!!

that demon happens to look a lot like dean, so you say? that's because it... does, yes. dean's biggest fear (right now and ever since he went to Hell basically) is turning into this mess of a terrifying creature, something all manner of strong as shit, happy to kill everyone and everything and with absolutely no reason to stop. when I say strong as shit, i literally mean it - he's capable of taking down all manner of creatures, can heal, and can happily have his head removed. as long as he's able to plop it back onto his neck, it'll reattach and he'll keep himself going. so have at, but just know he will keep going without issue.

and probably hit on you in the process.

dean will be absolutely gut wrenchingly terrified of himself, but will be trying his damndest to keep himself away from... everyone else. because he's a violent fuck and he's looking to kill everything in sight. so come at me if you're interested in a demon fight, let's do it. at some point at least, dean will probably try to intervene and is going to spend a lot of time having the shit beaten out of him before he goes crawling away in fear for a little bit longer and hyperventilates into a paper bag because this is actually a thing he is going to become. as in, he's truly going to turn into this demon eventually. probably. if he doesn't start killing people.

SO YUP. cas will be involved at some point, but apart from that i have no other plans apart from bloodying up dean as much as possible and torturing everyone i can with demon dean.

Cas will have a monster of his own, but it is super interactive so anyone who wants to have horrible things happen get in here.

SO. Castiel's monster looks like your loved ones. Or, well, that's its nasty ability--it looks like a loved one to you. Someone you hoped or feared would show up? A friend? A dead parent? A lover? Someone you want, someone you'll willingly embrace. Yup.

Not to Cas, however. To Cas, his monster will look like this Leviathan which is basically just a more human looking version of this. Adorable, right?

The monster will want to join with Cas, i.e. turn itself into black goo and get inside him, which is NOT A GOOD IDEA. Don't let this happen! Possessed!Leviathan!Angel is NOT GOOD. Although if it does happen the solution is to forcefeed him borax. Welp. In any case this idea terrified Castiel absolutely, and he's not going to be any good at fighting them either. In fact, he would rather be as far away from the Leviathan as he possibly can be.

Unfortunately, when he sees the thing getting all friendly with people who think they've been reunited with their bffs, he's going to have to intervene, and try and convince them that it's a monster. Consequently, the monster will recognize its quarry and throw aside whatever player character there is right there in order to pursue the angel instead.

Leviathan are practically unkillable, unless you come armed with soap. They're also super strong and put-an-arm-through-you violent. Older than angels, they're capable of killing even Castiel's own kind. But worse still, if it seems like the player character will be getting in the way of its ultimate goal of angel!bonding, it will turn into Toothy McGee up there and reveal its true nature. At which point... At which point it may just try to eat your character's face off. Tasty!

Please save this angel from his own psyche, guys.

Later on, Castiel will understandably be hiding in one of the temples, where he'll be available for Healing of any character who needs it...which is probably not unlikely considering the situation. If anyone would like Castiel to heal them, I'll be writing a separate starter for just that purpose!

General Hux

Oh lawd, Hux is definitely going to have a monster. One who bears a striking, albeit much more exaggerated and scary resemblance to Kylo Ren

He will be aggressive and will come with that damned broken ass ligthtsaber much to Hux's chagrine. I'm waiting to hear back from the mods about whether or not he will have some semblance of say a Force-push or grip. Essentially, if you have not seen the movie, Kylo Ren is a ridiculously powerful Force-user who has zero impulse control and is prone to violent tempers when he doesn't get his way.

Which means, to anyone unfortunate enough to come across him, he will probably be demanding to know just where General Hux is and will get violent if not given the answers he wants.

Unfortunately, for Hux, this is the first sort of invasion he's ever faced in Hadriel and he might not necessarily mean he knows to head for one of the temples. While he's not going to bravely go running out into the fog to save someone, he might end up trying to hole up in his apartment in the spire. Hopefully he makes it out of there before the Kylo Ren wannabe tracks his butt down and kills him with great justice.

Amos will not be having a personal monster, mainly because a. I have no clue about Silent Hill and b. I honestly can't think of anything because Amos is Very Weird and kinda Mary Sue like that. He's scared of mostly everything anyway, so there's no One True Horror really....

ANYWAY he will be chilling at Hope's Temple for the most part, but if he sees you venturing out into the fog he'll go with you, because safety in numbers, right? Right? Well... Amos is not much of a fighter, but for this he'll bring out his gun. He can also use the jabberjays for reconissiance, or any other regular normal animal companion.

Ai

Ai is going to have a monster chasing her around for the event. It's something of a riff off the Dancer shadows in P3 and P4 (I'd link pictures but apparently their so tedious no one bothered to cap them.) But basically her monster will be an entwined couple with mirrors for heads wielding a bullwhip in their joined hands. Despite having mirrors for faces her monster/shadow will be able to talk and shall do a lot of berating of her general behavior and a great deal of spilling how badly she wants to be loved. It may also toss out some of her less savory thoughts on people she's met and spoken too in the last month if she and it cross paths with your character.

If it happens to catch Ai or anything for that matter shield your eyes as the mirrors will reflect what little light there is between them and burn out everything inside their skull leaving some lovely char marks around the eyes, nose, and mouth. Best thing to do is run, since by rule of Persona the only way to get rid of her monster/shadow is for Ai to accept her dark side (which she's technically done back home but details) after another Persona user has totally wiped the floor with her shadow.

And when she isn't running away from her shadow/monster she'll be camping out in a temple, likely Delight because Delight is a good feeling. And/or she'll glue herself to the side of whatever stronger and more capable fighter she comes across outside of the temple. Good luck with her.

Victor isn't going to get his own special monster this round. He's got a lot on his plate.

I'm going to tag around with him and have him harass other people and their monsters though. Less hero and more authoritative jerk who isn't having this.

He's not going to be very effective he is so out of his league.

Clear and Hakkai

Hakkai is going to catch a mental break this go around. I figured after the nightmares and the trying to kill an innocent person thing, I don't want to overload him with mental trauma because he is the type that snaps if it gets to be too much. And no one wants that, trust me.

He will, however be helping people that can't help themselves. He has healing powers and he works at the clinic now, so he'll be doing that. He can also kick a fair bit of ass, so he can fight stuff off. But his main focus will be Goku and Gojyo and especially Goku and not as much Gojyo.

Clear had a good dream, so I need to bring him nightmares. His monster will be his little brothers . Awwwwww. They look almost identical to Clear save for the charm points that are on Clear's face and the clothes. Like Clear, they utilize song as their powers, but for the silent Hill effect, it's not going to be pretty in any way. Their songs are going to have a numbing and crippling effect rather than forcing complacency. It will sound horrible, too. It will have discord and disharmony. Also like Clear, they have robotic strength and speed and healing factor. Though they can be destroyed or broken. Clear's own song can break them.
They will be ambling about with sparks shooting out of their heads asking for their "big brother". And if anyone knows Clear, you'd know who they're talking about.

Bianca, AKA The Actual Latest

Bianca's personal monster looks almost exactly like her, and it's hard to pinpoint exactly how it's different. Maybe its lips are just a shade too red, its smile a shade too wide, its eyes a shade too black, its walk just a shade too theatrically slinky? Whatever it is, it's enough to tip it squarely into Uncanny and Horrifying Valley.

It won't attack Bianca. Instead it simply follows her, flickering in and out of existence, whispering things she doesn't want to hear out loud. If there's anyone accompanying her, it'll wait till they're distracted and grab at them with long, icy fingers, trying to scratch or strangle. It doesn't do a lot of physical damage itself, but it never stops whispering and it has a slight wraith-like chilling effect, and it tends to attract other monsters.
