Event Post: Silent Hill

THE RUNDOWN
Delight's poll has closed, and Sorrow is the winner, a decision that we're sure no one will regret! But before the gods quite have a chance to get anything rolling this month - resurrection or a run-of-the-mill event - they have it taken out of their hands.

Sharon Da Silva ([personal profile] unitas) has had her fill of god nonsense, and on June 15th she will be handling her anger and fear in a healthy and constructive way. Yes, bits and pieces of Silent Hill will be affecting the city of Hadriel, summoned via her connection and powers. The gods, not expecting this at all, are going to need a bit of time before they can figure out how to fix it, so until then, well - we hope you like fog.

The city will be shrouded in it most of the time, the light above dim and somber. There may be one or two monsters in the fog, but generally it's pretty safe. Just creepy and kind of depressing, that's all! But stay alert. Intermittently, you'll hear the sound of an air raid siren - and that's when you want to maybe think about running. The city will temporarily change to a darker version of itself, staying that way for anything from a few minutes to a few hours before changing back again. You might see sigils on the walls of buildings, blood and bodies, rust and scorch marks, a twisted reflection of the usual Hadriel. And, of course, monsters.

THE DETAILS
When Hadriel changes, the barriers Hope uses to keep the monsters in the caves simply stop working. Anything from the bestiary can be found roaming the city, free to cause damage and stalk their prey and make life worse. As if that and the new Satanic aesthetic weren't enough, there's also the chance that you could have your own personal monster stalking the streets looking for you. These creature will be disturbing reflections of your subconscious - fears, regrets, and desires given twisted, uncomfortable form. This part of the event is opt-in, you don't have to have your own special monster if you don't want to!

When the sirens go off and the city changes, the only safe places in Hadriel are the god temples. No monsters can pass through the doors, although that does mean you'll be affected by the emotion of whichever temple you might choose to hide in. Still, you'll be safe. Unfortunately, there's no way to predict when the sirens will go off, and the temples have no food or other conveniences inside them. If you want to camp out there for the whole event, you can, but it's not gonna be easy, and hopefully you'll have some braver friends willing to go out and get you food, you weenie.

If you would like to try to talk Sharon down or stop the Silent Hillification of Hadriel some other way, feel free to plot with Lunare! But if no one else manages, the gods will finally figure out how to shut that shit down on June 20th. The fog will lift, the monsters will be safely locked away again, and the gods will be left with one hell of a headache.

THE OVERVIEW

► June 15th: The city gets foggy and weird. What is weather?
► June 15th-20th: Fog, intermittent cave monsters, freaky too-personal monsters, good times for all!
► June 20th: Everything goes back to normal and you can all leave those shitty temples

Glacius

As far as the event itself goes, Glacius is going to be very, very unnerved by the appearance of the Otherworld... but luckily for the citizens of Hadriel, he isn't the type to cower. As soon as he figures out there is danger present he will likely begin patrolling the city trying to deal with the influx of monsters, and once it is established that the temples are safe zones, he will do what he can to bring people to them, defend them, and keep them well-supplied. This will provide plenty of opportunities for characters to encounter the normally reclusive alien. Want to fight monsters with him? Sure! Will your character need help getting to safety? He's your guy! Want to approach him as he returns to the temple with supplies and show some appreciation for everything he's been doing? That would be wonderful! I'm up for anything, really, so hit me up and let's plot it up!

As far as his monster goes, I will have some art up for it by the time the event rolls around... but it's going to be an anguished, writhing mass of three bodies: one representing the fiery convict he was forced to kill to win his freedom from Ultratech, one representing the grief and sorrow that act caused in him, and one representing his fear of what that deed potentially makes him. If he comes face to face with it, he'll likely have a hard time galvanizing himself to fight back, so if anyone wants to help him deal with it that would be swell... and could potentially open the door to helping him actually come to terms with what the monster represents, too, if your character is the type to try and offer continued support.

Basically this is like one of his dreams: an inside look at some of the darker shit that occupies his mind and the chance to directly effect how he deals with it, which is pretty exciting because opportunities like this do not come up with Glacius often given how tight-lipped (gilled?) he can be about his past! So if this interests you, hit me up via comment, PM, or Plurk and let's work some stuff out!

I'd loooooove for either Nick or Carlisle to help out with this. Maybe Carlisle, given how cagey Glacius is about himself.

(At some point, they need to talk about dream stuff in a non-dream setting, too. SO MUCH CR, SO LITTLE TIME.)

I'm up for either or both! What sort of stuff would you expect to happen if your chars encountered the monster? I'm assuming that Nick would help Glacius fight it, what about Carlisle?

Nick would definitely go the "attempt to help Glacius fight it," but Carlisle is more likely to be moral support, given he has lots of feelings regarding how he views himself and what his deeds make him. It's not much of a stretch that he'd get where Glacius is coming from with that. He'd also probably want Glacius to have to fight it rather than... you know, compelling him to do it, since that's a big no for him, so Carlisle would definitely have his reasons for wanting to encourage Glacius to handle it.

Hmm, both of those could sound fun! Encouraging Glacius to handle it might be better than just helping him kill it right away, as in order for the alien to be galvanized to deal with it he'll probably have to be talked through some of his own guilt. It would probably be the more unique of the interactions, but I'll do whatever sounds most fun to you!

Talking about guilt is up Carlisle's alley, so let's go with him! After all this, the two of them should have, like... some casual conversation to make up for all this trauma.
