THE RUNDOWN

After months of being badgered about it, Hope and Delight have finally decided to try to manipulate the door and see if they can send people home. How nice! That means that on October 10th, when the Door opens to bring new people in, its effects will be... somewhat different.

Rather than the usual crop of monsters, newbies, and random objects, the Door opens more widely than it ever has before. Along with the newcomers, it brings in dragons - four of them, nonetheless. And these dragons are not particularly happy to be in Hadriel, away from their usual food sources and unable to escape. Just like you guys! No wonder they're grouchy.

So, as the newcomers get settled in, there'll be another problem to deal with: what the hell are you going to do about these dragons?

THE DETAILS

The dragons are no pet-sized creatures. They're at least as big as a house, far too big to fit into the tunnels around the city, and there are four dragons to contend with. Each has its own special abilities:

Red: The red dragon. This guy, predictably, breathes giant columns of fire that can raze buildings to charred ash. His scales are fiery hot to the touch and can burn anyone who makes contact. His blood is molten and will burn through any blade that tries to cut him down. Heat cannot harm him.
Blue: The blue dragon. This one's a lady and the largest of the four. There's a frozen aura around her that can slow reaction time and, if you're fighting her for too long, can freeze you to death. Her breath can freeze most things in the city solid and her scales act as frozen armor that turns most weapons brittle.
Purple: The purple dragon is a boy and is the smallest of the four. He could be considered the easiest to take down, as his scales and blood have no significant protective properties, however, his breath isn't a breath so much as it is a bright beam attack that can reduce most buildings to rubble and obliterate most things standing in its way.
Black: The final dragon of course, is black. Unlike the others, the black dragon does not shoot any death beams out of her mouth and she prefers to fight with tooth and claw. She's extremely durable and has a passive regeneration that, while it is not instant, she will not sustain damage beyond a single fight. She's large, fast, and powerful, and prefers to swoop down and pick people up in her claws to eat later. Fun stuff!

The dragons will be flying around the city to hunt, but will make their homes on one of the crumbled, unusable spires- Red near Spire 1, Blue near Spire 2, Purple near Spire 3, and Black near Spire 4.

Though powerful, they can be killed, either by another powerful individual or by a group of people working together. If you are interested in volunteering to kill one of the dragons, please comment here and let us know what character or characters will be involved. If we get more than one volunteer per dragon, RNG will be used to pick the victorious heroes, with the chances slightly weighted towards groups rather than individuals (i.e. a group of characters taking down the dragon together will get two entries in the drawing, while an individual will get only one). We want as many people to have fun as possible! And of course, new characters are also welcome to volunteer - start your time in Hadriel off with a bang! Signups will close and our heroes will be chosen on October 9th.

Even if your character isn't going to kill a dragon, we fully encourage people to interact with, fight, and be terrorized by them. If there are not enough volunteers to kill all four dragons, well, they can't fit in the tunnels! They'll settle down in their nests outside the spires they've chosen and terrorize the residents until someone kills them or one of the gods gets annoyed enough to do it themselves. And who knows how long that will take?

Kate... is dying. :| She'll probably end up following Faith since Faith is an idiot who wants to fight dragons and Kate is also an idiot who can't let her regenerating friend fight dragons alone. Yep. |D;

SANS will be having a hell of a time, hoo boy. People from his home are arriving, and for those not in the know, the Confusion event was sheer hell on most of his positive CR. He won't be killing any dragons - he does not need that EXP or LOVE, thank you very much - nor will he be fighting any at all if he can avoid it, which he tends to.

He will, however, be getting pinned down at various points. Confusion really exhausted his magic with him getting all up in those laser-y skull blaster-y displays, and he'll still be recovering from that.

There's potential plans for him to get stuck with Newt and Hermann because we're all messy jerks who love drama, but if you wanna get stuck with a skeleton who is...incredibly exhausted, maybe a little frazzled as he tries to keep the people he cares about safe, and undeniably overtaxed, go ahead and HIT HIM UP.

For awesome ooc reasons Shadow will be back in time for this event, and be completely useless tbh...

But he will try and fail horribly to fight any of the dragons because he simply is still too drained from his powers/vital energy thanks to the Confusion event. He will try to help people, and fail at it, if you want your character getting hurt because he's basically being stubborn, go for it, he will also need someone to save him at some point lbr and someone to tell him to stop overdoing it, again. Yes, that's all.

Chris is going to be hanging out at UD house and having ~discussions~ because although dragons are cool, no. Just no. He is, however, available for healing since he'll still have Hope's blessing through this event, since he's barely used it in the time he's had it and so hasn't worn it out yet. He might also end up out of the house at some points due to that there's seven people there and they run through their supplies really fast, so if anyone wants to run into him we can totally figure out a way to plot. c:

Also, he's updated the emergency app to include Confusion's GPS, so that's a thing for anyone who needs to make use of it during the event!

Kain here is totally new, but he's going to be all about tackling dragons. It's kind of what he does! As a dragoon, his whole job class is designed to jump around emulating dragons... and to be overall capable of fighting them... so this event is pretty much made for him.

He can hold his own in this sort of battle, so if anyone needs some help against the dragons he'll be up for it!

Edited to add: YAAAAAY he's killing the black dragon! :D Of course, I'm up for interacting with anyone who wants to join in on fighting the dragon before that. great CR builder, fighting dragons together.

Rey can't be burned, so the red dragon ain't got shit on her. But it would be interesting to see her try and tackle any of the others with some difficulty (like maybe the blue icy dude). Either way I've volunteered her for the dragonslaying task.

Either way she is a hot tempered firebug who is equipped at dispatching large enemies of both size and numbers, so she can offer offensive aid when dealing with dragons. Chances are she'll try to go about one solo at first and it won't end very well, so I'm more than okay with her teaming up with anyone!

He may be convinced to become live-bait for anyone wanting to hunt a dragon down though. This won't be easy to do since he'll think it's a stupid plan. But if he likes you enough, he'll reluctantly agree to the task. Hit me up if you'd like a bird-brain sidekick for the hunt this month!

Lea is brand new, but with the power to manipulate fire he's pretty well equipped to take on some dragons. Or protect some people who are doing their best to avoid said dragons. He has a penchant for collecting small adorable people, so if you happen to be a small adorable person in danger of being nommed by a dragon, it's Dark Rescue to the... rescue. Yeah that's still a dumb "middle" name, Lea.

Tina isn't interested in killing the Dragons herself buuut she is going to use the situation to have some fun!

Tina is going to be following those of you fighting the Dragons, she might get in your way or she might distract the Dragons so you can get 'em! She will be playing a real life version of Dungeons and Dragons even if you didn't sign up! So expect her to be throwing dice at your characters, narrating what's going on and throwing extra monsters she's been capturing into the mix!

Emily is not about the dragon fighting life, especially since she used up Rage's blessing during the zombie invasion last month. So! She'll be staying at UD house and having a Screaming Match with Mike (pending Zee's agreement; otherwise, Emily will be her normal self and spend most of her time avoiding conversations that should be had and probably having sex with Matt lbr she is so not sorry.) Best bet is to talk to her during the dragon event is to hit her up at her IC inbox or on the network.

Faith is gonna be a Hero and will go fight the dragon she thinks is most dangerous, the purple one, because what is self-preservation when you have a regeneration ability. She will be witnessing the death of her idiot friend, Kate, who doesn't seem to understand that Faith will be fine, goddamnit and will sacrifice herself for Faith or something equally stupid (Kate PLS). This will upset Faith A LOT and will send her into a sort of BSOD state where she'll be fucking lethal against the dragon. Doesn't matter if she makes the kill or not, or even if she survives the fight (I'm game for either), the point of this is to fuck her and Kate up a little wahahaha. This is also where Shadow finds out these two are friends WHOOPS. If your character is fighting the purple dragon, feel free to witness her dumb ass going full phoenix here lol

TBQH idk how much I'll be able to actually thread for this event, because I'm in recovery mode from being more active than I am in an entire month lmao, plus I have old threads to wrap up. HOWEVER, I am super game for handwaving things for this event with both Emily and Faith, so pls hmu! ♥

Cas may end up accidentally in a fight at some point because I always enjoy that, but actually, I'm mostly here because he is around for on the spot healing if your character has been mauled by a dragon and is bleeding out somewhere. Because that's what angels are really good at.

It would be kind of cool if team science (YO ALPHYS AND SIMON) could get up in on that as well? Maybe they design a fire or ice proof shield? Something scale piercing? PLEASE?

/Slides in late. Ushahin is basically a hippie when it comes to dragons because of events in his canon where he went inside the mind of the oldest and last dragon in his entire world. Very sad stuff, so despite these dragons not being sentient like the ones from home, he's really going to hate seeing these four go down. Make love, not war with the dragons, man. He'll try going inside their heads to see if he can convince them to stop destruction and death. Can't you all just get along?

Undyne will want to fight all the dragons, but will encounter the Black dragon and fight it. Being capable of both long-range and melee attacks, she might actually stand a chance against it! Except she won't try to kill it, because this is Pacifist run Undyne and she's trying to turn over a new leaf. (Thanks for the positive influence, Frisk!) HOWEVER... when she realizes they're eating people, she won't make any promises. (I realize people have already been picked to deliver the killing blow, but it's not too late to volunteer to be part of one of the groups fighting, right? Undyne'll fight any of the dragons!)
